Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today we're going to be checking out our best trailer wiring options for your 2017 Acura RDX. So today we're going to be checking out a total of three different wiring kits. Over here we have Tekonsha kit, here in the middle we have the CURT wiring, and over here we have the Hopkins wire. Now, before we kind of get carried away and some of the differences and things like that, I just want to point out which one I would choose. And just a little bit why. more

Hopkins Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2017 Acura RDX- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Acura RDX we will be having a look at and showing you how to install the Hopkins Plug-in Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number HM11143265.Here's what our wiring looks like installed. As you can see, this wiring is designed to be stored inside the vehicle when it's not in use and that'll help protect it from the elements. This wiring harness is going to give you the basic lighting functions that are required by law in order for you to safely and legally tow a trailer. The white wire is our necessary ground connection between our vehicle and our trailer. The brown wire is for our taillight and running light circuit. The yellow wire is for our left turn signal and brake light and the green wire is for our right turn signal and brake light. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2017 Acura RDX- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Acura RDX we will be having a look at and showing you how to install the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with a Four-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number 56008.This wiring harness gives you the basic lighting functions that are required by law in order for you to safely and legally two a trailer. On this white wire here, we have our necessary ground connection between our RDX and our trailer. The brown wire is our tail light and running light circuit. On this circuit we have six amps of total power output. Those six amps will be sufficient enough to have a few incandescent light bulbs or several LED lights. LED lights draw less power than incandescent lights, so we're able to run more off of this circuit with that. more

Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2017 Acura RDX- Video
Speaker 1: Today on this 2017 Acura RDX we will be having a look at, and installing, the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number 118569. Here's what our wiring looks like installed.This wiring harness gives us the basic lighting functions that are required by law in order for us to safely tow a trailer. This black wire here, with the white stripe, is our necessary ground connection between our RDX and our trailer. The wire with the brown stripe, that is our taillight and running light circuit, and on that wire we have a total power output of 7.5 Amps, which is more than adequate to run several incandescent lights, or basically as many LED lights as we want, because they do draw less power.On our black wire with the yellow stripe, that is our left turn signal and left brake light. On that circuit we have a total power output of 4.2 Amps. Tekonsha does recommend a maximum of two lights on that side, so if you have incandescent lights, limit them to two. more
