Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Gen-Y shock absorbing fifth wheel king pin. Now, the biggest difference between this king pin and the factory one that might be on your fifth wheel is that these are going to have rubber torsion springs built into the head, so that when you're going over those bumps, or you start to get some chucking when you're going down the road, this is designed to help absorb most of that. You're still gonna have a little bit of it. What I've had experience with, I've got one of these on my trailer. I actually have the gooseneck version, but what I have seen happen is that the chucking will start, and this will eliminate it almost immediately, and if you've ever had chucking, or what most people will call porpoising, which is you feel either the weight of the camper coming down on the truck, or you can feel it pushing after you hit a bump, and it just keeps going, that is what this is designed to help with. more
