Shane: Hi, I am Shane with etrailer.com. Today, on our 2012 Dodge Journey, I am going to walk you through how to install the etrailer.com class three trailer hitch receiver. Adding a hitch like this onto your Journey is going to allow you to make more room inside the vehicle. Putting a cargo carrier on it, move items out, put them on the cargo carrier, make more room for your passengers. Put a bike rack on it. You want to put your bikes on the bike rack instead of putting them inside the vehicle, trying to fit them inside the vehicle or trying to put them up on the roof. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2012 Dodge Journey - Curt- Video
Today on our 2012 Dodge Journey we're going to review and install the CURT class two 1-1/4" receiver tube hitch, part number C12134. Here's what our hitch is going to look like once installed. As you can see, hangs down below the rear fascia. It's got a nice round crosstube design and a fully welded steel construction, which chain hold downs on either side of our receiver tube. Going all the way through our receiver tube is also a pre-drilled 1/2" hole for your hitch pin. Then we've got a 1-1/4" by 1-1/4" receiver tube for this class two hitch. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2012 Dodge Journey - Curt C13201- Video
Today on our 2012 Dodge Journey we're going to review and install the CURT class three 2" receiver tube hitch, part number C13201. Here's what our hitch is going to look like once installed. As you can see, not a lot of the hitch is hidden but it is tucked up under the vehicle nicely. We've got a round crosstube that goes into our fully welded constructed receiver tube. The whole thing has a nice black powder-coated finish so it hides with the underbody of the vehicle. We've got our chain hold down on either side of the 2" by 2" receiver tube. more

All right today in our 2012 Dodge Journey we are going to install part number 13335 from Curt. This is what this hitch looks like once it's installed on the vehicle. Next, we are going to use some measurements that will help you out in selecting some accessories such as ball mount, a bicycle rack or a cargo carrier. From the top of the receiver opening down to the ground is going to be 13-3/4 inches. And, from the center of the hitch, pin holes to your outside edge of the bumper will be 2-1/2 inches. Today in this 2012 Dodge Journey we are going to install part number 87487 from hidden hitch. This would be the hitch looks like once it is installed on the vehicle next well give you some measurements to help you out selecting some accessory such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack or a cargo carrier from the center of a hitch pin hole to the outside edge of the bumper is going to be about 1 inch from the top of the receiver opening down to the ground between 14 and 5/8 inch now we go ahead and show you how the hitch to install. First thing we needed to do is go ahead and lower the exhaust well spray down the rubber hanger with some lubricant because we go ahead and remove them. well move this ground strap for our tube. We also run a strap underneath the car to cradle the exhaust while we lower it. And since this is kind of a close quarters work and you can pry them off but maybe easier if you go ahead and get the correct tool to remove the hangers with. more

Well spread down the river hanger for some lubricant and then well go ahead and remove them. more
