Today on our 2014 Ford Expedition, were going to be test fitting the Thule Helium Aero, a tilting 2 bike rack for 1-1/4 and 2 inch hitches, part number TH9042. To begin our test fit, were going to slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, while we hold out on the attached pin. Once our pin holes are lined up, well let this pin slide into the hole. Well then turn the black knob. This will engage our anti-rattle device, further securing the rack to our vehicle. In this position, well take a few measurements. We will have about 18-3/4 inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 2-3/4 of an inch and overall, weve added about 18-3/4 of an inch to our car. more

Yakima StickUp 2 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2014 Ford Expedition

Today on our 2014 Ford Expedition we're going to be test fitting the Yakima stickup. A platform style folding rack for inch and a quarter and two inch hitches part number Y02420. To begin our test fit we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch. We'll line up our pin holes, throw in our anti-rattle bolt, and tighten it down with a wrench. With our rack in this position we'll have about 18 and a quarter inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of the vehicle is about nine and a quarter inches, and over all we've added about 10 and half inches to the length of the Expedition. Pulling the red knob at the base of the rack on the left side will allow you to tilt the rack away from your vehicle into the platform position. In this position you have about 27 and a quarter inches worth of ground clearance at the rear, and over all we've added about 34 inches to the length of the vehicle. In this position as you can see you do have full access to your rear hatch. By pulling the red knob on the center mass we can stand it into it's upright position. We'll now move the frame hooks to the top of the mass and undo our wheel strap. We'll grab our bike, place our bike into the cradles, secure it first with the center frame hook, then with the real wheel strap. And just like that we're ready to go and that will complete today's test for the Yakima stickup part number Y02420 on our 2014 Ford Expedition. more

Well slide it in the way we lined up our pin holes, and then let the attached pin follow into the hole. Well then tighten the black knob to engage our anti-rattle device further securing our rack to our vehicle. In this position, we will have about 18-1/2 inches worth of ground clearance. more

Then we can tighten that down with a wrench. Let's go over a few clearance measurements here. You will have about 18 inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of the vehicle is about 4 1/4 inches and overall we've added about 13 1/2 inches to the length of the Expedition. Pulling the gray lever at the base of the mast will allow us to tilt it away from our vehicle, and as you can see here it does give us full access to our rear hatch. more

Well line up our pin holes and thread in our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it down with a wrench. In this position, well have about 17-3/4 of an inch worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is going to be about 8 inches away and overall, weve added about 16-1/2 inches to the length of the vehicle. Pulling the gold pin at the base of the rack will allow us to tilt the mast away from our rear hatch and as you can see, this will give you full access. With our mast back in its upright position, well pull the pin at the top of the mast. This is going to allow us to swing out our dual cradle arms. more

In this position, we have about 23 inches of ground clearance at the rear of the rack and overall, were adding about 30-3/4 of an inch to the length of the Expedition. more

Today on our rack we'll be testing it on the two-bike configuration, Part Number PS63138. To begin our test fit we're going to slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch. We'll then line up our pinholes, tighten our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it down with a wrench. In this position we have about 18 and a quarter inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle's about 6 inches away and overall we've added about 25 and a quarter inches to the length of the Expedition. By pulling the two outside pins on the rear of the rack we can tilt down our wheel cradles. By pulling the silver pin at the base of the mast we can tilt it away from our vehicle and as you can see this will give you full access into the rear hatch. more

Speaker: Today on our 2014 Ford Expedition we're going to be test-fitting the Kuat NV, an aluminum platform-style two bike rack for two inch hitches, Part Number N101. To begin our test fit we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pinholes, slide through our pin and secure it with the provided lock. We now turn the black knob here at the rear, this is going to engage our anti-rattle device and further secure the rack to our vehicle. In this position we will have about 18 1/4 inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the vehicle's about 5 1/2 inches and overall we've added about 16 inches in length to the vehicle. We now pull the orange lever on the right side of the base of the rack, this will allow us to tilt our rack into the platform position. In the loading position we will have about 26 3/4 of an inch worth of ground clearance here at the rear. The closest point has now become about 8 3/4 of an inch away from our vehicle and overall we've added about 36 inches in length to the car. Let's go ahead and load up our bike. more

To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch. We'll line up our pin holes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt, and tighten it down with a wrench. In this position, you'll have about 20-3/4" worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 7-3/4", and overall we've added about 26-3/4" to the length of our vehicle. Pulling the two black outside pins on the rear of the rack will allow us to fold down our wheel cradles, and by pulling the center pin, located on the center mast, we can tilt it away from our vehicle. As you can see in this position, it does give us full access to our rear hatch. With our mast back in its upright position, let's go ahead and check the ground clearance. It's changed slightly, as you can see, here at the rear of the rack, we now have about 23" worth of clearance. more

The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about six and three quarters of an inch and overall we've added about fifteen and three quarters of an inch to the length of our vehicle. Pulling the yellow t-handle at the base of the rack allows us to tilt it away from our vehicle. As you can see here this will gives us full access to our rear hatch. more

The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 9-1/2", and overall, we've added about 16" in length to the vehicle. Pulling the black pin and clip at the base of the mast will allow us to tilt the bike rack away from our vehicle, and as you can see, this does give us full access to our rear hatch. With our mast back in its upright position, we'll extend our dual cradle arms. We'll do this by loosening the two black knobs, extending our arms into the appropriate slot, and re-secure with our knobs. more
