Today, on our 2015 Toyota Highlander, we're going to be taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Traveler Hitch Mounted Bike Rack.One of the big questions we get asked all the time, in regards to hitch mounted bike racks, is if you're still going to be able to have full hatch access to the back of your SUV. Now, this one does fold down out of the way. It gives us the ability to do that. First thing you want to do, is take this little thumb screw here, just back that off the turner to pull out the pen and pull the remainder of it out. This will drop down and we can open up our hatch. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Toyota Highlander we're going to be installing Swagman's XTC2 two-platform bike rack system, part number S64670. This is an easy way to get your bikes on the back of your vehicle and take them down the road with you. You'll be able to put two bikes on this rack and secure it with three different points. There's wheel cradles located on each side for your tire and secured with a rubber strap. Each of the wheel mounts is adjustable to accommodate various size bikes, so from your larger mountain bikes all the way down to your children's bike you'll be able to bring anything with you.To further ensure your bike's safety, the third point of contact is going to be on the frame right here. It's got a nice rubber coating to protect it from any scratches or abrasions. more

The first thing we're going to do is come here to the back of our bike rack, and we're going to squeeze on our handle. That's going to disengage and allow us to tilt our bike rack away from our vehicle with our bike fully loaded. Then we'll be able to open up our hatch and gain access. more

Today on our 2015 Toyota Highlander we're doing a test fit of the Thule Apex Swing Hanging Style 4 Bike Rack. That part number is TH9027. Now we already have our bike secured down. We're first going to show you one of the key features of this rack, and that's going to be our swinging feature. We're going to start by taking out our T-pin here at the back, and just letting that hang down for now. We'll loosen up our knob, we want that so that it's completely loose and hanging down. That's not going to come out. more

This is going to help to prevent our bike from swinging back and forth and possibly making contact with the other bikes. more

We're going to pull down on the lever, and that's going to allow us to tilt our bike rack away from our vehicle, with our bikes fully loaded. In this position, we do gain full access into our back hatch. You'll see we're not going to have to worry about our handlebars making contact. more

Thule Hitching-Post-Pro Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Toyota Highlander

2015 Toyota Highlander, we're going to be test fitting the Thule hitching post-pro for a bike rack, part number TH934XTR. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look, and show off some of the features. How this bike is actually attached to the rack, we're going to have 3 points of contact. We're going to have 2 straps up at the top here, and 1 off to the side. That's going to serve as an anti-sway strap to keep the bike from moving too far back and forth and possibly colliding with each other. The cradles themselves are padded and have these grooves on the inside, so you're cables and everything sit inside there and your bike will not get scratched once it is put into place. They are adjustable on the lengths of the arms, to make loading a little bit easier. more

As you can see we've already got our bike loaded up so you can kind of get an idea of what it's going to look like on the back of your vehicle. First thing we're going to do is start off with a couple of measurements. Our first measurement is going to be our closest distance and that's going to be from the rear of the bumper to the front side of the rack, it's going to be about 4 7/8 inches. Overall distance that we've added to the back of the vehicle is going to be about 32 inches. more

We'll start off by getting a few measurements. Our closest distance is going to be our first measurement. From the front side of the rack to the back side of the bumper. Now it's going to be down here on the bottom where you have the round part of the assembly for the upright piece on the bike rack. more

Today on our 2015 Toyota Highlander we're going to be doing a test fit of the Curt Premium 4 Hanging Style 4 Bike Rack, part number C18064. As you can see, we've already got our bike up here and in position so you can see what it's going to look like and how it's going to interact with your vehicle. We'll start off by getting a few measurements, starting off with our closest distance, which is going to be from the T-handle down here to the back side of the bumper at about 6 and 1/4 inches. Overall distance, from the rear of the bumper to the back side of the rack, is going to be about 34 inches. Our ground clearance down here on the bottom is going to be about 13 and 3/4 inches. Now that we've got those measurements out of the way, let's go ahead and talk about how our bike is secured to our rack. We're going to have three straps securing our bike to our cradle arms. We have the rubber strap here on this side and two on this side. more

Yakima HoldUp Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Toyota Highlander

Today on our 2015 Toyota Highlander, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Yakima Holdup Platform Style 2 Bike Rack. This is going to be part number Y02443 and as you can see we've already got it up here on our vehicle with the bike in place so you can see what it look like once you have it installed. It does come with a 2 inch shank for your 2 inch hitches only and we're going to start off down there on the shank with our closest distance first for our measurements. Our closest distance is going to be from this point here in the bend, from the start of the bend in the shank to the back end of the receiver and that distance is going to be about 3 5/8 inches. Overall distance that we've added to the vehicle with it down in the ride position is going to be about 32 1/4 inches. With our rear ground clearance being about 21 1/2 inches. Now a great feature of this at this point with your bike on the rack is going to be that tilting feature. While you have your bikes on, you will be able to tilt it away from your vehicle and open up that rear hatch. more

The first thing that we're going to do is come down to the front side and get a few measurements, starting off with our closest distance first. This is going to be for your class 2 . For your class 1, 2, and 3. As you can see it does have that inch and a quarter with that 2 inch adapter here. more

We've got our adapter on here for our 2 inch receiver here today. We can go ahead and begin by inserting our shank into our receiver then line up our pin holes. All right that looks pretty good. Then we'll take our included anti rattle bolt then I'm going to thread that through on the driver side here. more
