Yakima Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2020 Ford Ranger- Video
Collin: Hey everyone, it's Collin here at etrailer, and today we have a 2020 Ford Ranger. We've been testing some hitch mounted accessories on it, and right now we have the Yakima HangOver installed and we've got a bike loaded up on it. This is a four bike rack and it's kind of unique. It's not necessarily a hanging style rack per se, where you have the two arms down here where you set your top tube on it. Yes, your bike is hanging, but it's not connected at the same points.So this has been designed for mountain bikes or fat tire mountain bikes that have the suspension forks up on their front wheel. Now, if we come up here, we'll just see how our bike up here isn't installed. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Ford EcoSport- Video
Hey everybody, Rob here at etrailer.com, and today we're going to be taking a look at the Thule Helium Pro two hanging style bike rack on our 2018 Ford Eco Sport. Now, our helium pro bike rack is going to allow us to take up to two bikes to and from the trail, and it's going to alleviate the problem of having to cram our bikes inside of our Eco Sport or having to get a bike rack and put it on top of the roof, because if you're like me and some other people, it's a lot easier to put a bike rack on the back of your car, rather that having to lift them up over your head and then unload them. Now, the nice thing is if you do have to take your bike rack out or whenever you take it out to store it, it is going to be extremely lightweight because our Helium Pro is actually made out of aluminum.So it's going to be lightweight, strong, and rust-proof. And since our Helium Pro is a hanging style, our bike is going to be held securely at three points of contact. We're going to have two on the top cross tube here, and then one on the vertical support. And the one on the vertical support is going to prevent the bike from swaying too much, preventing that bike to bike contact. more

This is going to be able to hold up to two bikes and it has three different tie down points per bike. You have these wheel cradles that are adjustable up and down this rail right here and it's a zip tie style strap, and then you also have an adjustable frame hook. On top of that you have this nice little adjustable cable just for added protection.Let me just go ahead and show you guys how to take your bikes off the rack. You can start by undoing this little strap, and I do suggest leaving the hook for last as it does hold that bike upright, you wouldn't want it to hit your car or yourself. more

But, if you need to carry more bike it is available in also a three, and four bike carrier.One of my favorite things about this rack is that it's going to be very compact and easy to move around. It also looks very modern, and because of its size, in most cases, you're still going to be able to back into those tight spots or even small garages, without having to take your bike off and fold it down in the stored position.Now, the bike itself is going to be secured in three spots. We're going to have two straps holding the top tube down, and then we're also going to have a strap here on our seat tube. And what that's going to do is help prevent any sway back and forth. more

This is going to be able to hold up to two electric bikes at the same time and one of the main features I want to show you today is its ability to tilt away with the bikes installed.You're going to start by undoing this pin and clip and then pulling this little pressure knob on the other end and that's going to allow you to access anything that's in the back of your Explorer without having any clearance issues. It does get somewhat close, but not close enough that you need to worry. You go in there and grab your book bag, backpack, even a lunch or two, whatever you really need on your ride. more

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Thule Apex XT 4 hanging style bike rack on our 2015 Ford Explorer.This is going to be a great choice to get your four bikes to and from the trails, whether you're with friends or family.It's got a mount by the top tube and one on the down tube of your bike to keep it from swaying too much.So for your piece of mind, when you're out on the trails, or you stop into a store to grab some quick groceries, you're going to be able to lock up your bikes with the integrated cable lock that's going to store in the upright post of your bike rack and lock into the end of the two outer posts, to be able to lock up your bikes so that you don't have to worry about them.Here are our cradles. You can see it has a nice soft, rubber composite material so that it's not going to damage your top tube and your bike's not going to move around too much while in transit.It's also going to have these nice grooves in it to be able to accommodate for your brake lines.Now we can go ahead and remove our bike. Just push down on that tab, pull up on the strap. Now you'll notice on the inside of the strap, it is going to have two rubber strips to help, again, with not damaging your top tube when your bike is strapped in.Now anytime you have a multi-bike rack, it's going to be a little difficult, but this one does give you enough room to get that bike off. Once your bike is removed, I always like to replace my straps so they're not flopping around. more

This rack is going to hold your bike at three different points of contact. You're going to have two up here on the top, and one on the anti-sway cradle. This anti-sway cradle is very, very important to keep your bike from shifting too much when on a hanging-style rack.Now, with most hanging-style racks you're not going to be able to tilt your bike rack away from your vehicle to be able to gain access to your rear hatch. As you can see now, we do not have hardly any room to open that up to get any gear or anything inside our car. more

Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com, and today you're going to be taking a look at the Thule Helium Pro 2 bike rack carrier, on our 2018 Ford Escape. Our Thule Helium Pro is going to allow us to carry two bikes in the back of our Escape and alleviate the problems of trying to cram our bikes into the back hatch or having to reach way above our heads to put our bikes on top of the roof. It's going to be a lot easier and a lot safer getting our bikes to and from the trails.Our bike is going to be held down by three points of contact. We're going to have two on the top cross tube here, then we're going to have one on the vertical support and that's going to help keep it from swaying too much and prevent any kind of bike to bike contact. But let's go ahead and pull our bike off so we can get a closer look. If we come to the cradle, we'll just push in on the button and we can start feeding the strap through.Once we have all the straps loosened, we can take our bike off and we'll set it aside for right now. more

Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Ford Escape HR1450Z-E- Video
Hey everyone, today we have a 2018 Ford Escape and we're going to do a test with it of the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE two electric bike rack. Now this bike rack has been designed to be able to haul up to two electric bikes weighing up to 80 pounds each to and from your destination. It has a nice sturdy steel construction, it's got reinforcement so that it can handle the weight of your e-bikes while taking those impacts and vibrations at high speeds.Now, a really cool feature about this bike rack is that when it's loaded, you can tilt it away from the vehicle. And how we're going to do that is there's a safety pin on the bottom we have to pull. It's going to be just a snapper pin once we pull that off. You might have to lift up on the bike rack just a little bit. more

Now this bike rack is going to be able to haul up to three bikes to and from the trails. It's been designed to be very lightweight, comes in at just about 20 pounds. So it's going to be very lightweight, easy to handle, you not going to have to struggle getting it into your hitch, risk straining your back with some of those heavier platform-style racks that you might run into. It's going to have an onboard cable lock, which comes from the base, pulled out from here, comes over the frame of your bikes and then locks into that spot. You use your key, lock it up and then unlock it when you want to unload your bikes. more

It's reinforced to be able to handle the weight of those e-bikes for when you're traveling at high speeds, all those vibrations, or even if you go over a speed bump or any high impact like that, it's going to be able to handle that weight.A cool feature about this bike rack is that it can tilt away from the vehicle to gain access to the trunk even when it's fully loaded. Now, if you do have it fully loaded with two 80-pound e-bikes, I would suggest maybe getting an extra set of hands to do this just because that weight could be a little bit dangerous to handle by yourself. more
