The Tailgate Pad is gonna be good for protecting your Tailgate from getting scratched and your bike while it's on there. It sits in between there, it can hold five bikes with the hook and loop straps here. We have all these loops where you can move the bikes further apart or closer together, however you want to set it up in the back of your truck. Thule Truck Bed Bike Racks Review - 2020 Ram 1500- Video

Andy: Hello, everyone. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today, we're going to take a look at the Thule Gatemate Pro on our 2020 Ram 1500.All right. So looking at the Gatemate Pro, we are using the 53 inch version today. The reason being is we do have a roll-up tonneau cover and we didn't want to have any interference with clearance issues, if we we're using the larger eight bike 60 inch version. So this one does accommodate seven bikes and it is a great option when it comes to not wanting to add any extra length on a full-sized truck like this with a hitch mounted bike rack.So looking a little closer, you can see that we have kind of these padded separators. more

Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Swagman Paramount Tailgate Pad on our 2020 Ram 1500.So if you're really looking for an alternative to get your bikes to and from the destination, maybe just upgrade from throwing them in the bed of your truck, this is going to be the most cost effective way to do so. It's not going to require you to put anything on your hitch and add a little bit of length to the back of your truck. And of course, with the truck being a little bit taller, it's probably not the best idea to put it up on the roof.So right now, we can actually go ahead and put five bikes on here. It is going to be a little cramped, but with the 54 inches that we have here, it's going to be good enough. This will fit on mid-sized trucks and also just your full-sized trucks. more

I'm not. With this, it just slides right in to this little crack in between our gate and our bed. And it's going to be able to fit any tire up to five inches wide. So for your fat bikes, as long as they're under 50 pounds, because that's the weight rating of this, you're going to be able to use it. more

And even if you had a bike rack in your hitch and a roof-mounted bike rack, it's going to be difficult to get eight bikes to and for. This is 60 inches wide, takes up our entire tailgate, allows us to get our bikes to our favorite destination without installing anything in our hitch or having to install something up on our roof. The GateMate Pro solves a couple different problems for pickup owners. It allows us to get our bikes to our favorite destination using our truck bed, but in an organized way, instead of just tossing our bikes in our truck bed and they get tangled up or they lay down flat or something. This allows your bike do drape right over the back.With your pad in place you can see here that the bike's going to easily sit right over your tailgate, freeing up some space, and it's going to protect from any scratches or abrasions on your vehicle. It's 62 inches across, which will allow you to easily mount two bikes, and keep them from contacting each other.
