Trailer Hitch Installation - 1992 Lincoln Town Car- Video

Trailer Hitch Installation - 1992 Lincoln Town Car

Today we are going to be installing hitch part number 36116 on a 1992 Lincoln Town Car. We are underneath the vehicle now and we will go ahead an point out the attaching points for the hitch. You can see we are looking at the passengers side frame rail. The hitch is actually going to be clamped to this frame rail and we are going to have to drill out all four of the holes that are going to be the attaching points for the hitch. So the first step is to get the hitch clamped up into position. Now that we have got the clamp hitched up into position we are going to go ahead and drill out the forward-most holes, which will allow us to put the bolts through and hold it up into place. And then we can remove our clamps and drill out the rear-most holes. OK, now that I have got the forward-most holes drilled on both sides, I am going to go ahead and put the bolt and block into place - again, to hold the hitch up into position so I can release the clamps and drill out the rear-most holes. And we are going to use the fish wire that was provided in the installation kit. And we just want to feed that through the hole that we just drilled, out through this large hole at the end of the frame. And then we just slide our block onto the fish wire and wrap the thread to the bolt with the fish wire. And this will allow us to pull both the block and the bolt through the frame and into position. And we attach that with the conical-tooth washer and nut. OK, I am going to go ahead and do that for the other side as well. more
