Before we get into that though, let's just take a minute, check this out and make sure it's gonna be right for you. Before we jump right in, I figured it'd be useful just to kind of refresh ourselves on the main parts that we're gonna need to flat tow our Ranger down the road in the first place. A brake light relay kit is honestly a necessity on the Ranger, but it's one of them small parts a lot of people forget about, but it's really important because it's gonna allow all your lighting functions to work properly whenever you're hooked up to your motor home. Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at installing the Demco Stay and Play Duo proportional braking system for a towed vehicle on a 2023 Ford Ranger. Braking system is gonna be one of your required components for flat towing a vehicle and that's because it's states required especially on something that weighs as much as the Ranger. Now what this does is allow you to slow and stop in your RV and the brakes will be applied on your towed vehicle. So that way it's not pushing the vehicle around, it's just gonna make for a much better towing experience. It's like having trailer brakes when pulling a trailer. Now also with that you get safety, because this breakaway cable here, if an accidental disconnect happened, for whatever reason, and the cable is pulled, the brakes are gonna be applied on the towed vehicle bringing it to a stop. more

Before we get into that though why don't we just take a minute, check this out and see why it's a good idea to use one of these. The whole point of a brake light relay is allow all your lighting functions to operate correctly. And with these trucks, if you don't use a brake light relay, let's say if you're at a stop sign, making a left turn, without a brake light relay, the motor home's brake signal would override the turn signal. So for example, you would have the motor home as it is with the brake light on the right, left turn signal flashing. more

Now, keep in mind, this is going to be one of six main components needed to inaudible 00:00:16 your Ranger. All of them are going to include your base plate, your tow bar, your tow bar wiring, your safety cables, your braking system, and your brake light relay.The reason we're going to need a brake light relay is simple. Whenever we're flat towing our ranger behind our motor home, and say in our motor home, we have a turn signal on and the brakes applied at the same time, here on the back of the Ranger, it would just be the brake lights illuminated, and that's obviously what we don't want. We would want one brake light to illuminate and one of our turn signals to be flashing, matching the back of our motor home.Well, that's what the brake light relay is going to allow us to do. more
