These are gonna be a solid all around chain for light snow and ice, and we have them on the front tire of our RAV4 as per the manual on our case but we recommend double checking to make sure you have it on the right tire for you. These chains are a diamond pattern which gives you more coverage on the tire, helps you a lot with turning and it gives you a smoother ride compared to a ladder pattern style chain. Those are gonna be better for starting and stopping but these are better for all around. The links themselves are square and they're pretty large relative to some other class C chains that we've tested today so they're gonna give you a good bite into that light snow and ice, but you might feel 'em a little bit more while you're driving. more

These chains might be good for you if you live in an area that gets pretty consistent ice, light ice, and snow conditions. Starting with the fact that they are a diamond pattern. Gives you a lot more coverage on the tire itself, helping you with turns, give you a smoother ride than ladder pattern. Ladder pattern chains tend to give you a better grip on starting and stopping, but diamond chains give you a smoother ride and better help on turns. more

How's it going, it's Ethan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install these Titan Chain twist links snow tire chains with the cams on our 2022 Toyota RAV4. First thing to point out is that these chains do have a ladder pattern which is gonna help you a lot with starting and stopping but not so much coverage on turns. The links themselves are a twist link, so they do wrap around each other, which gives you a good amount of bite and some light snow and maybe light ice but it's gonna be a little bit smoother compared to a V-bar style or square link. In this case, they are low carbon steel which might not be a terrible thing because all of these connection points can be breakable if it gets cold but they're not gonna last you as long and they're not gonna be as rust or weatherproof as a manganese nickel alloy might be. The chains do come with these built-in cam tighteners which help keep things nice and secure and overall, the installation of them wasn't too bad. more

So as far as their build, they are going to be a ladder pattern style chain, which means they're gonna go straight across the tire rather than diamond style. It's gonna help you get started and stop easier, gonna give you more traction in that case, but it's gonna be a little bit of a bumpier ride normally, and the twist links, like I mentioned, are gonna smooth that out a little bit. The chains themselves are made of a low-carbon steel, which is probably a little bit of a good and bad thing in this case, 'cause there are a lot of touch points. more

The first thing I should talk about before we get too into it is that Toyota themselves do claim that you shouldn't use these tire chains on this vehicle, there are some clearance issues potentially, but if you're in a state that requires tire chains, these are probably gonna be one of the better options for you. 'Cause they are Class S compatible, which means they do work well with a limited wheel well clearance, these are gonna be a great option. Additionally, they are diamond pattern, which will give you more coverage on your tire, it's gonna make handling a little bit smoother, and it's gonna help you out with turns. If you get a little bit closer, you can see the links themselves are square links, so they're gonna have a little bit more bite into light snow and ice than a twisted link or some roller styles might have, but they're pretty small and they're pretty low profile relatively. more

So the big thing with these is that they're going to be cables rather than a traditional chain. That's gonna mean it's very low profile, so it's gonna be a smooth ride quality with these steel rollers over top of the cables but it also means it's not very aggressive. So this is really just for light snow. If you want something that's gonna bite and dig into ice, break it up and give you more traction in those applications this really doesn't have the chops to do that. more

These tire chains have D-links in a diamond pattern, so they are going to give you a consistent ride, as opposed to ladder style chains, where it's a little more of a clunking feeling as you're running over bumps. And the D-links are the better style of chains you have, better than, let's say, cables, which give you a little bit of traction, but not as much. This is a great application for snow and ice. Today, we have our 2019 Toyota RAV4 and we are test fitting the Konig K-Summit XL tire chains and Konig does a really nice job of making sure that they take care of us when we're installing this. We do have a nice carrying case so that way we can toss it in the back and not have to worry about the rear of our vehicle getting dirty.The instructions have a nice laminate finish so we can lay this in the snow or the mud and we don't have to worry about the instructions getting ruined. We also have all the tools we need and different adapters for different tire sizes, that we get to store in this bag to keep it all together.And then they do also provide us with gloves that are plastic in case we forget to bring our own gloves as well as a kneeling pad, a plastic kneeling pad, so that way we can try to keep our clothes clean while we're installing these.These tire chains have a D-Link in a diamond pattern, so it's going to give us a nice consistent ride quality over something like a ladder style chain, which is a little more bumpy feeling. The D-Link does a better job of getting us through snow and ice than some other options would like a cable chain that does more, just gives a little more friction or traction.This one does a better job of breaking that stuff up as well as these bracket looking things here. These are actually designed to help break up any ice. more

These tire chains are very easy to install, and are pretty much color coated as to where you need to go next to install them. They have a diamond shape pattern that gives greater tire coverage, and the small D-links that'll wear evenly over time.And with the diamond pattern, that's going to give you greater coverage, as I said early, but also going to help out with both snow and icy conditions. And a feature that kind of sets this above others, is going to be its self tensioning system. Which eliminates the need for aftermarket rubber tensioners that you would need with other tire chains.These do come with plastic bumpers to help protect the rims once they're installed. And they're also compatible with both antilock brakes and with electronic stability systems as well. more
