Adam: What's going on everybody, Adam here with etrailer/ today we're going to be taking a look at the Pewag 7mm LT Studded Truck Chains with cam tensioners on our 2020 Ram 1500. So if you guys are going to do some off-roading and you guys need a really, really aggressive chain, this is going to be the chain that you guys want, just because this is going to be the most aggressive chain that we offer here. Pewag did a really good job of getting these massive, massive studs on the end of our twist links here. So as you guys can see, we have some huge duds on the end of our twist links here. This isn't going to be great for your ride quality, but, like I said, off-road use only, these are going to get you out of almost any situation you're in.This is going to be the most aggressive chain that we offer here, and they are going to wear away relatively evenly in regards to these studs here. Even if there isn't snow on the ground, especially when that ground is still just frozen and you guys are in the woods somewhere just kind of logging around, these are definitely going to be able to dig into that frozen dirt and get you free for whatever situation you guys may be in.These are going to protect your rims too. more

Pewag All Square Snow Tire Chains Review - 2020 Ram 1500- Video
Adam: Hi, everybody, Adam here with etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the pewag all square snow tire chains on our 2020 Ram 1500. These are going to be a ladder pattern style chain. So, these are going to be a little bit less easy on you when you're driving compared to some of those spring roller style cable chains, just because those don't have near as much height to your tire than these do, but I definitely think we're going to get a lot more benefits to it just because we're going to get a lot more traction than the roller style. Also, we are going to just get all in all better traction, starting, stopping, turning, everything like that. As you guys can see, we do have a square link and we are going to have about 5.6 millimeters of size.That is going to be a little less aggressive than the seven millimeter size pewag chains you guys may be looking at, but these are just going to give a little bit nicer ride than those seven millimeter ones. more

But when it comes to a ladder pattern style chain, these are going to be the lesser aggressive types compared to the V-Bar style or even those big square links, just because we aren't going to really add a whole lot of height to our tire. more

These chains are going to be cable chains forming a ladder pattern, so we are going to have a somewhat consistent amount of chains going around our whole entire tire. These are going to be a little bit less aggressive than some of your link style chains, and a lot more less aggressive than those V-bar style. As you can see, we do have some nice rollers on here, and these are going to be less aggressive, but it's going to give you a lot smoother ride. So for the not as intense situations that you guys will be in, lighter snow, something like that, these are going to be great for your starting, stopping and turns, but also it's going to give you a nice and smooth ride.Comparing them to the V-bar style, these are going to wear down a little bit slower and more evenly, just because they are universally shaped throughout the whole entire chain here. more

What really sets these chains apart is the amount of adjustability that we have. We have a couple of links that we can pick from on the back connection, we have some links that we can pick from in our front connection, and then we also have one, two, three, and four different cam tensioners, so we're going to have a lot of adjustment to be able to get that right fitment for your guys' tire. So these are going to be a little bit more aggressive than some of those spring rollers style snow chains, but these aren't going to be as aggressive as some of those V-Bar style chains as well. more

What really gets us that aggressive grip is going to be these massive links here, going to be about seven millimeters. And, these are definitely going to be extremely beefy. So these are going to be an extremely aggressive chain, a little bit less aggressive than the V-Bar style because we're not going to have any spikes coming out of our chains, but they are going to be relatively larger square links. They are going to be made of a manganese nickel alloy steel so they are going to resist against rust and corrosion over time. So hopefully these are going to last you through a decent amount of seasons. As you can see here, we do have a ladder pattern and it does have a nice finish to it so it is hardened and extremely durable. more

So, what really sets this chain apart from most is the fact that we have about 7 mm of link size on these. Compared to some of the others, these are a lot bigger. They're going to be extremely heavy duty and extremely aggressive, but there is some downsides and upsides to these type of chains. One, the upsides, we're going to get around 32% more traction with these chains, but also we are going to have a relatively rougher ride compared to some of the other chains you guys may be putting on your guy's tire. more

These are going to wear away relatively quicker than just your normal twist link or square link chains, but it is going to give you optimal traction whenever you guys are starting, stopping, and turning as well. These V-bar links here form our crossbars, which give us superior traction in snow and ice. The ladder bar design here will provide us with smooth starts and stops in snow and ice. The low-carbon seal construction is strong and durable, and the built-in cam tighteners right here, with use for the provided tool, provide a snug and secure fit to our tire. With our tire chain laid out like so, you want to have these adjuster cams here on the outside edge of your tire, and you want to make sure these hooks here have the flat part facing against the tire and not the hook. Same with the ladder bars here, you want the flat part versus the parts that stick out. This part here is what digs into the ice to get you traction. more

All right, today on this 2015 Ram 1500, we are going to show you a Titan Chain snow tire chains, part number TC2828CAM. For reference, we are working with tire size of 275/60/R20. When you get your snow chains, it always a good idea to go ahead and make a few practice runs with them before you actually need it, in the ice and snow, like what we are doing here. All right, before we put it on, let's go ahead and lay it out, the way it is supposed to be. We want to make sure that these cam's right here are sitting towards the outside of the tire. We also make sure these V-links, right here, they are welded to these cross bars, make sure they are pointing up and away from the tire. You want that to dig into the ice and snow. All right, lets go ahead and take our chain and drape it over your tire. You want to make sure your crossbars are even across the tire. more
