Thule Crossroad Roof Rack Installation - 2014 Ford Explorer

Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer we're gonna be taking a look at the Thule complete crossroads kit, part number th45058. Now our kit's gonna consist of two 58 inch long bars that are preassembled with the feet on them already. Now our bars are gonna allow us to free up space inside of our car to make room for passengers and pets while still being able to carry our gear and just mount it on the roof. Now our bars are compatible with all Thule accessories such as bike racks, cargo baskets, or even ski or snowboard carriers. Now our bars have a weight capacity of 165 pounds. I just want to mention, you always want to double check with your vehicle's owner's manual to make sure your roof can handle that amount of weight. Now our kit does come with locks for each one of these knockouts in our kit and they're all key to like. So once we have them installed, we can secure it to our vehicle and deter any theft. Now that I've gone though some of the features, let's look at how easy it is to get them installed. Now we already have one bar installed in our Explorer, so let's show you how to get the back one installed. So we're gonna take our bar and we're gonna set it on our roof and we're gonna want to to make sure that this rubber pad is and top of our raised rails and the strap is gonna go underneath our raised rails. Now we're gonna take our strap and we're gonna feed it up into the channel right here on both ends. And once we have our straps loosely in place, I'm gonna slide my bar right to the back of this section of my raised rail. more

Yakima Roof Rack Review - 2014 Ford Explorer- Video

Yakima Roof Rack Review - 2014 Ford Explorer

Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer we're going to be test fitting the Yakima Jet Stream Roof Rack System consisting of part numbers Y00426, those are the Yakima Jet Stream Crossbars, 60" long. We'll also be using part number Y00147, the Timberline Towers, designed for factory raised side rails. The Yakima Jet Stream Roof Rack System is great for carrying a wide variety of accessories while freeing up space for the inside of your vehicle. It can carry bike racks, cargo baskets, cargo boxes, ski and snowboard carriers, as well as kayak carriers. The two bars have a combined carrying capacity of 165 pounds, although you always want to double check with your vehicle's manual to make sure your roof can withstand that weight. It does have this rubber strip up at the top, and that coupled with the aerodynamic shape of the bar will cut down wind noise and drag while you're driving. It also means that if we we're to remove our end cap here you can push this down and use T-track accessories in your actual roof rack system, as opposed to taking the strip out and cutting it to length. more
