After I assembled the bike rack I realized that it's extremely solid. That's pretty much what you get. When you have such a heavy bike rack. This thing's about 95 pounds in the four bike configuration. more

Saris Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2012 Toyota 4Runner- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 Toyota 4Runner, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Saris Freedom SuperClamp EX Platform Style 4 Bike Rack. That's part number SA4026F. I've already got it loaded up just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it's going to hold our bikes. It actually supports our bikes by their tires. There is no frame contact. One of its best features is though, is that it has the ability to tilt away from our vehicle with bikes loaded so we can gain access to our rear hatch.To do that you simply remove the safety pin underneath first. more

Today on our 2012 Toyota 4Runner, well be test fitting the Thule Apex Swing 4 Bike Carrier, part number TH9027. To begin our test fit, well slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, well line up the pinholes and insert and the spring loader pin into the pinhole. Well then turn the black knob located at the base of the carrier to engage our anti-rattle device. Now well go ahead and go over some clearance measurements to see how the bike carrier and this vehicle will fit together. There is about 17 inches of ground clearance. The closest part of the vehicle to the closest part of the carrier is about 3 inches. more

Now well go ahead and go over some clearance measurements to see how the bike carrier and this vehicle will fit together. There is about 17 inches of ground clearance. The closest part of the carrier to the cargo door is about 14 inches. Weve added about 29 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. more

Now to begin our test fit well slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line up our pin holes, thread our anti-rattle bolt through the pin holes and tighten them up with a wrench. Now well go ahead and go over a few clearance measurements to see how the bike carrier and this vehicle will fit together. Theres about 16-1/2 inches of ground clearance, closet part of the carrier to the closet part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about nine inches, with the cradle arms folded down weve added about 18 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. Now well go ahead and pull the pin at the top of the mask to swing the cradle arms out and well measure from the cargo door to the end of the cradle arms and were getting a measurement of 47 inches. To access the cargo area well pull the pin at the bottom of the mask to tilt the mask down, this will allow us to have access to our cargo door. more

To begin our test fit well slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line up our pin holes, thread our anti-rattle bolt through the pin holes and tighten them with a wrench. Now well go ahead and go over a few clearance measurements to see how the bike carrier and this vehicle will fit together. Theres about 16-3/4 inches of ground clearance, the closet part of the carrier to the closet part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about six inches, from the cargo door to the end of the cradle arms is about four to three inches. To load the bike well undo the cradle straps, set the bike into the frame cradles and secure it with the straps. To access the cargo area, well pull out the black t-handle located on the top right hand side of the mask and tilt the mask down, this will allow us to have access to our cargo door. more

Today on our 2012 Toyota 4 Runner, well be test fitting the Kuat Sherpa Aluminum Two bike carrier, part number s102. To begin our test fit well slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line up our pin holes, insert our pin through our pin hole securing it with the lock on the other side, and turn the black t-handle to engage our anti-rattle device. Now well go ahead and go over a few clearance measurements to see how the bike carrier and this vehicle will fit together. There is about 18 inches of ground clearance, closet part of the carrier to the closet part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about five inches, weve added a total of 17 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. Now well go ahead and lift the gold handle the base of the carrier to tilt the platform down. Well then measure from the back of the cargo door to the end of the platform and well get a measurement of 35 inches. more
