Yakima DoubleDown Ace Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2011 Dodge Nitro- Video

Today on our 2011 Dodge Nitro, we'll be test fitting the Yakima DoubleDown Ace 4-bike carrier, part number Y02451. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, lining up our pin holes, inserting the pin through the pin holes, and turning the black knob at the back of the shank to engage the anti-rattle device. Now that our DoubleDown Ace secured to our Dodge Nitro, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. The closest part of the carrier to the closest part of our Nitro is here at the rear bumper, about 7" away. With the cradle arms down, we've added about 13" to the overall length of our vehicle. We'll now pull the red lever at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out. more

Well begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt. Now with our Thule Vertex secured to our Dodge Nitro, well go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 15-1/2 inches of ground clearance at the rear. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of our Nitro here at the rear bumper about 5-1/2 inches away. With the cradle arms down weve added about 13 inches to the overall length of our vehicle. more

Well begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt. Now with our Hitching Post Pro secured to our Nitro, well go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 15-1/2 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of our Nitro here at the rear bumper about 9 inches away. Weve added about 19 inches to the overall length of our vehicle with the cradle arms down. more

Well begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch allowing the inch grade hitch pin to fall into place and well then turn the black knob to engage the anti-rattle device. Now with our Thule Helium secured to our Dodge Nitro, well go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 20 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the Nitro here at the rear bumper about 4-1/2 inches away. With the cradle arms folded down, weve added about 20 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. more

Today on our 2011 Dodge Nitro we'll be test fitting the Thule Apex swing four bike carrier, part number TH9027. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch allowing the integrated hitch pin to fall into place and we'll turn the black knob to engage the anti rattle device adhering our Thule Apex to our Dodge Nitro. We'll now go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 15 inches of ground clearance to the rear of the carrier. The closest part of the carrier to the closest part of our Nitro here at the rear bumper about 4 inches away. We've added about 12 1/2 inches tot he overall length of the vehicle while the cradle arms are in their down position. more
