Adding a four pole to your Jeep is gonna allow you to do a few things. First and foremost, it's gonna allow you to give the proper signals from your vehicle to your trailer so that others behind you know that you're safe and legal and they know what your intentions are. So if you wanna make a right turn or turn into a parking lot, they're gonna know that because your vehicle's sending the signals to the trailer lights. Another thing which is more common now is that there's accessories that are coming with accessory lights on them like a cargo carrier or some bike racks even have lights. more

Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Curt 4-pole wiring harness on our 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Now a couple reasons of why you would wanna install a 4-pole on your Jeep Grand Cherokee is if you plan on towing a small trailer that has a 4-pole, if you ever plan on renting equipment or anything like that that has a 4-pole you're gonna need trailer signals. So this is gonna give you the lighting signals that you need to transfer from your vehicle to the trailer lights. Another couple of reasons would be if you have a bike rack that has light accessories or a cargo carrier that might have taillights, This is also going to help to power those. This wiring harness is gonna transfer your four basic signals to the lights on your trailer, which is going to be your left turn, your right turn, your stop, which is just a combination between the left and the right being applied at the same time and your running lights. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look and installing the Tekonsha T-One Trailer Wiring Harness on a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Here we have our trailer wiring actually installed on the vehicle and you can see we're using the actually integrated dust cap on our plug. And this is gonna allow us to kinda hoop it on there, but also, it's gonna keep all dust and grime from building up on our plug. That way, when we are ready to tow this will stay nice and clean and we'll be able to hook up and have a good connection. Now, if you prefer a more permanent mounting solution that's no problem. more

Today in our 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Teconsha T1 vehicle wiring harness with four pole flat trailer connector.So here's what our wiring looks like once we have it installed. It's going to give us a four pole flat trailer connector and give us all the required lights to get down the road safely, like our tail lights, turn signals and our stoplights. Keep in mind the bracket we have our wiring mounted to is sold separately and does not come with the kit. What's really nice about our wiring is the fact that we're not going to have to cut or splice into our factory Jeep wiring. It's going to be a T connectors located behind the tail light on each side and then we'll run a power wire up to the battery. Our wiring is going to come with a converter box that's going to take the signal from our Jeep and turn it into a working signal for our trailer lights to work.But it's also going to protect our Jeep's wiring and electrical system cause it's going to prevent any kind of backfeeding if there we're any problems on our trailer. more

Speaker 1: Today, on our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're gonna be installing Curt's T-connector vehicle wiring harness for factory tow packages, with a seven-way and four-pole flat connector. Part number C55774.This harness and connector package is gonna give you a four-pole and seven-pole connector for the back of your Grand Cherokee. This will give you all the necessary lighting, out of both your seven-way and four-pole, which includes your left turn signal, right turn signal, brake lamps, and tail lamps. And, additionally, on your seven-way connector, you're gonna get an auxiliary power wire, brake signal wire for a break controller, and a backup light wire.Your seven-way has a spring-loaded lid, with a seal on the inside to prevent any moisture from entering it, causing corrosion.Your four-pole has a dust cap to help keep out moisture and corrosion, as well.This is a great option if you've got multiple trailers. So, if you've just got a little trailer for hauling around some gear, your four-pole's there. Whenever you got a big boat you wanna pull behind you that's got a breaking system on it, you can use your seven-way, and you're all set.We'll begin our installation by installing a long bracket, so we have a place to mount our seven-pole connector. more

This 7-pole connector's going to plug directly into your factory wiring harness, providing you with all the necessary trailer signals from both a 4-pole flat connector and a 7-pole connector. Both connectors are going to provide you with the necessary lighting signals, such as your left turn, right turn, brake lamp and stop lamp signals. Your 7-pole's going to have some additional wiring in it for a brake controller signal, auxiliary power and backup lamps. The 7-pole connector has a spring-loaded door with a seal located on the inside to keep out moisture and corrosion.The 4-pole connector has a dust cap that can be removed and reinstalled to help keep out dirt, debris and moisture. Today on our 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be having a look at and installing the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package with a 7-Way and 4-Pole Flat Connector, part number C55774. We have our 7-way adapter here. This will allow us to tow a multitude of different trailers, such as ones that have electric brakes, provided we have a brake controller installed inside of our Jeep. Over to our side, we have a separate 4-pole flat, which is what most standard small trailers use to control their lighting functions, including most rental trailers. What's nice about having this to the side of your 7-way, is you don't need to have an adapter in order just to tow a small trailer; you have the option for both right there, no adapters required, one less thing to worry about losing. What I really like about our Curt wiring harness that we have here compared to some of the options from some of the competitors out there, is that it's a complete package. We have the 7-way, we have our 4-way, we have a bracket to mount it to our vehicle, and it goes right into the vehicle's existing tow package wiring, no modifications to the vehicle required at all. Now, one thing I would like to point out, once you install this wiring, it probably won't work in most cases. You'll have to go to your local Jeep dealership and have the computer re-flashed inside the vehicle in order to enable the factory tow package. more

We also have the ability to have trailer brakes, if we have a brake controller installed inside of our vehicle. It gives us them most versatility, compared to a lot of other connectors out there. We have this dust cap, which is provided, which covers up our electrical connections to help keep dirt, debris, and moisture from entering, causing corrosion, a short, or making it difficult to insert your trailer wiring onto the plug. It also allows you to wrap it around your safety chain loop, so your wiring is readily accessible for when you need to hook up to your trailer. Now, this being a 5-pole flat, we have our basic lighting functions. Our brown wire will give us our taillight signal and our running light signal. more

Here's what our 5-flat harness is going to look like once it's installed. The 5-flat harness will have a running, turn and brake signal circuits and the reverse light circuit. This will allow you to duplicate the signals coming from the vehicle to our trailer or towing product. Note the reverse light will then activate on your trailer or, more specifically, for a hydraulic lockout circuit like on boat trailers. Note the 5-flat trailer connector can work in conjunction with just a standard 4-flat trailer connection. We just simple don't use the 5th pole, which is for the reverse tail lights. more

Today on our 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're going to review and install the Curt Custom Vehicle Wiring Trailer Connector, part number C56009. Now to begin our install, we're first going to open up the rear hatch. We need to remove both rear tail light assemblies. Each tail light assembly is secured with two fasteners. These are pushpin fasteners, so we're going to pry the center of the fastener out, and then remove it completely. Just using a flat blade screwdriver, we can get underneath that center, just work it out. Note, if you have an interior trim panel tool, it can help to get underneath the head of the fastener, prying it out. Once you have it pried out, you can remove the whole fastener. more

Now to begin our install we're first going to open up the rear hatch. We need to remove both rear taillight assemblies. Each taillight assembly is secured with two fasteners. These are push pin fasteners so we're going to pry the center of the fastener out and then remove it completely. Today on our 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee we're going to be installing the Tow Ready T-One vehicle wiring harness with a 4-pole flat trailer connector, part number 118369. To begin our installation we're first going to need to raise the rear hatch of the vehicle. We're then going to need to remove a few of the interior panels in order to gain access to the plug. Next we're going to need to pop this panel here and this panel here loose because the plug we're looking for is actually right up underneath this in this area here. Just going to use a trim panel removal tool, or a large flat head screwdriver will work as well. Now with our interior panel pulled back we'll need to fold this cover piece back too, but see this green piece right here This is the connector that you're looking for so that's what we'll be tying in with. Today on our 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be installing the Tow Ready T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number 118425. To begin our install we'll first need to open up the rear hatch. Each taillight is secured with 2 fasteners. These are pushpin fasteners that we can take a flat-bladed screwdriver, simply pry out on the center of the fastener to release it, and then remove it. Once we have both fasteners out, we can go ahead and remove the rear taillight assembly. As you remove it be careful not to break the alignment tabs underneath. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee C55515- Video
Today, on our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're going to install the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness with 4-pole flat trailer connector. Part number C55515. To begin our install, we'll first locate the manufacturer's tow connector wiring harness. When we follow the manufacturer's wiring harness here, down the back of the vehicle, and to the back of the fascia, we can grab the round wiring connector and pull it free. Once we have access to it, we'll press on the connector lock and remove the weather pack plug that keeps it clean and free of dirt, dust, debris, and moisture. Once we have it removed, we'll go ahead and take our new harness, match it up with the manufacturer's, and install the new connector. Note, I do recommend to use some of the Edelmann Dielectric Grease on the connector. Part number 11755. more

Today on our 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee we'll be installing the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Flat Connector, part number C56009. To begin our install we'll first open up the rear hatch and remove the tail lights. To remove the tail lights we'll need to remove the two pushpin fasteners that secure the tail light housing. Taking a flat blade screwdriver we can get underneath the center of the tab, prying it up. Once we have it pried up we can then go ahead and remove the fastener. Then we'll go ahead and remove the tail light assembly. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Today on our 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, well be installing the T1 Vehicle Wiring Harness with a 4-pole flat connector part number 118369. Well start by gaining access to the back of the vehicle and removing this trim panel. To pop the back of the trim panel loose, you have to loosen the screw that holds in the cargo hook and also the screw on the threshold. With those screws removed, just grab a hold of this trim panel and pull out. Theres a couple push fasteners that hold it in place and pull that back. Well move to the front of the panel and remove the last tow hook. With that cargo hook removed, the panel will just slide out of the way. more

Today on our 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee well be installing the Tow Ready T1 vehicle wiring harness, part number 118369. To begin our install well first open up the rear hatch. Then well remove the spare tire cover. Now it may not be necessary to completely remove the spare tire, but youre definitely going to want to shift it out of the way to gain access to two of the four rear threshold fasteners. Now were ready to remove the threshold fasteners. Once we remove these four screw fasteners well sit the fasteners and threshold aside. more

Today, on this 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee, were going to install part number 118348 from Tow Ready. First thing well do is go ahead and remove the spare tire and remove the thresh hold at the bottom. Now, well go ahead and loosen up the side panels as well. Well also remove the small panel behind the spare tire. Now, well go ahead and start installing our T1 connector. On our passenger side, well go ahead and run the T connector with the green and red wires. more

Today on our 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee well be installing the Tow Ready T1 connector part number 118394. First well need to open up the rear cargo door and then well need to remove the two fasteners securing each tail light housing. Now with the fasteners removed here on the drivers side well go ahead and pop the housing free. Be careful not to break the alignment tabs here on the backside of the housing. Next well go ahead and disconnect the manufacturers wiring on the tail light assembly. Well press in the locking tab of the connector and disconnect it. more

Today on this 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee were going to install part number 42535 from Hopkins. First things were going to do is open the back hatch and remove the threshold. Then well go ahead and loosen up the panel on the drivers side to get access to our plug. Once we have our panel loosened up well go ahead and look for our green connector and its located behind this small panel right here. Well take our wire harness and plug it into the green connector then well plug the extension cord into the module. Then well take the module and zip tie it to the wire harness then continue on with the 4-pole extension wire below the plastic. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Today in our 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee, well be installing the tow ready T1 connector part number 118425. First, we are going to go ahead and open the rear cargo door. Now we need to remove the two pin fasteners securing the driver's side taillight housing. Once we have removed the pushpin fasteners, we'll go ahead and remove the whole light assembly. Be careful not to break the pushpin tabs on the forward edge of the tail light assembly. You need to locate the matching connector for the T1 harness, which will be the connector and socket at the top of the tail light assembly. more
