Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2024 Chevrolet Equinox- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today, we're taking a look and installing the Blue Ox base plate on a 2024 Chevy Equinox. Now, there's five main components required for flat towing your Equinox down the road, and we'll start on the vehicle side, and that's gonna start with the base plate, and that attaches to the frame of the vehicle and gives us the structural mounting point for the rest of our connections. And the connecting point between the base plate and the hitch on the RV is gonna be your tow bar, and that's your second component. Again, this is the physical attachment, basically like the coupler of your trailer. This is what is going to pull this down the road. Now, just like a trailer, you also have safety cables. more

Of course, you're gonna need your base plate and that's gonna be the physical connection that's actually on your vehicle, and this is what we hook up to, it's gonna allow you to start flat towing. You also are going to need diode wiring. Basically, your trailer light wiring, this is gonna be coming from your RV and it's gonna transmit the signals to the back of your car for all of the functions that you need. more

Hey everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the etrailer invisible base plate kit here on our 2018 Chevrolet Equinox. So a base plate kit is just gonna be one of the several components we need to successfully flat tow our Equinox here. So in addition to the base plates, we're gonna need a tow bar, which is the physical connection between the two. We're also gonna need safety cables required by law. A lot of the times the tow bar actually comes with these, so you don't have to worry about purchasing them separately. And then the last two things we need are some sort of lighting systems, such as diodes and bulb and socket kit, or just some magnetic lights. more

Hey everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit, here on a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox. So, there's a few different kinds of Roadmaster base plate kits available for this vehicle, two, in particular. There's the crossbar-style, and then the direct-connect style, which is what we have here. Now, the crossbar-style does still work well, but the direct-connect is gonna be far more seamless. We're not gonna have to worry about that bulky tow bar each and every time we need to hook up or remove our vehicle from the motorhome. It's gonna make things that much more seamless, cut down on the number of parts that we're gonna be dealing with each time. more

Now, here's what our base plate is going to look like once we have it installed. It's going to come out right on the lower section of our grill and it's going to give us a solid attachment point, so we can hook our tow bar up to it and pull it behind our motor home.And one of my favorite parts about this base plate is the fact that we can actually remove the arm here, this silver piece. If we pull on this pull ring, we can actually rotate the arm and it will slide right out. Now, it has a lot cleaner of a look because we don't have as much sticking out of the front end. more

Speaker 1: Today in this 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, we'll be having a look at showing you to how to install the Road Master Easy Four Base Plate Kit removable arms, part number RM-423193-4.Here's what our baseplate looks like installed. As you'll notice, we have a nice clean look on the front of the vehicle, when we're not towing it. This way, it won't take away from looks of our car at all. Now, the reason you're gonna want a baseplate like this one is that this will allow you to flat tow your Equinox behind your motor home, and not have to worry about using a trailer or a dolly to bring your car with you when you go Rving.This baseplate features removable arms, which serve as the attachment point for our tow bar. You'll simply insert you arm with the tab horizontal here, push it, and the spring loaded pin will then lock as you rotate it 90 degrees, holding your arm in place. It's the same on both side.Now, next to your removable arm, we have our safety cable attachment point. more

Speaker 1: Today on this 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, we'll be having a look at, and showing you how to install, the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, with removable arms, Part #BX 1689.Here's what your base plate looks like installed. As you can see, we have a nice, clean look on our vehicle, when we're not hooked up to our motor home.This will make it, so people don't really even know that our car's been set up for a flat tow, and also, we don't have much sticking out past the front, so it's not something we're going to walk into, as we walk in front of the vehicle.Inside our sockets where our arms go, we have these plugs we can place in, so when we're not telling, we can keep dirt and debris outside of the plug, making it easy to insert our arms.We have our safety cable attachment points right here. We have hardward amount of breakaway switch, if we're using a separate metal braking system, and we have two prongs that come off the center, for any electrical attachments you may need, such as a six-way round, which we have here.Now, the reason you're going to want a baseplate, is because this provides the attachment point on your Equinox, behind your motor home. One thing that I really like about this baseplate is how easy it is to use. We'll simply pull out a plug, we'll take a removable arm, to make sure this tan is horizontal.Stick it in, press, rotate, and then, our spring loaded pin will lock it into place. This gives us the attachment point right here, for our tow bar. more

This base plate's going to allow you to hook your vehicle up to the back of your RV. So you no longer need to get a dolly or trailer to haul that car behind you.The detachable arms can be removed by releasing the pin here and sliding and spinning it outward. This way when you're not hauling your vehicle behind your RV, you can remove these, you don't have to worry about those hitting anything when you're parking.There's a location on each side of the base plate to hook up the safety chain. So when you're flat towing it behind your RV, you've got that extra layer of security. There's two brackets located on your base plate. more

Here's what our base plate looks like installed. As you can see with our arms removed we have a nice, clean look on the front of the vehicle. The safety cable attachment point doesn't stick out very far passed our fascia, in fact it's behind our license plate bracket so we have no added length to the vehicle at all.Now when it comes to flat towing a vehicle you are going to need to have a lighting system of some sort on it. This base plate has prongs on it that we can attach a wiring bracket for any wiring that we have. In our case we have a four-pole flat for our wiring. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Chevrolet Equinox we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Blue Ox base plate kit with removable arms, part number BX1730. Here's what our base plate's going to look like on our Equinox once we have it installed. I do want to mention that the breakaway switch here, as well as the wiring you see tucked behind here, are sold separately, part of a braking system, and the diode wiring kit that we're going to be putting on later.Our base plate is going to allow us to tow our Equinox down the road safely and securely behind our motor home. It's going to evenly distribute the weight off of our suspension and take some of that strain off while we're towing it. One of the nice features is, when we're not towing, we pull this pin right here, we can rotate the arm, and it'll actually come out, giving it more of a clean look.It's also going to come with a protective cap to go in the receiver tube here for whenever we're not towing and we remove the arms. Right here on the inside of our arms, we're going to have a couple tabs and that's where we hook up our safety chains, so there's going to be a nice, large loop. more

Today on our 2016 Chevrolet Equinox we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit with Removable Arms, part number RM-523184-4. This base plate is going to do a really good job of keeping a nice clean look on your vehicle when you're not towing it, but when you're ready to hook it up and tow it behind your motor home it's nice and simple and makes it easy to do that. Here you can see the tabs where our draw bars go into are tucked away nicely underneath there. The most visible part over here is going to be the safety chain connection point right there. Here we've got these 2 mounting points in order to mount a wiring bracket for the front of the vehicle. That way this base plate gives you a nice designated spot to put it, and you don't have to figure out where you're going to mount yours. Another thing that's really nice about this base plate is the installation is pretty straightforward, and there's no drilling into the frame required like with some other base plates. This does have removable arms. more

Here's what it looks like once it's installed. As you can see it's not going to be very obtrusive on the front of our vehicle. The only thing that's going to stick out past the bumper is going to be our safety chain hooks. Everything else is going to be nicely tucked away inside the fascia. more

Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Equinox, we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit with removable arms. Part number is BX1689. Here's what our base plate looks like once we've got it installed and the fascia back in. You can see it's pretty nice and hidden. You don't see a whole lot of it. When we're ready for towing we've got our removable arms, we'll just slide those in. Rotate them until you hear our pin click into position. more

Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Equinox we're going to be installing the Roadmaster XL. This is a base plate kit with removable arms. Its part number is 3160-1B. Here's what the base plate's going to look like once we have it attached to our vehicle with the removable arms in place. This is going to offer us a nice, flat mounting surface with two holes that are going to work out great for the quick disconnects and all Roadmaster tow bars can easily be attached. Now, when not in use, when we don't need these arms out at the front, we've got an easy to get to spring clip here on the side. more

Roadmaster XL Base PLate Kit Installation - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox- Video
Today on this 2011 Chevrolet Equinox we're going to install part number 3160-1B from Roadmaster. This is the Roadmaster XL baseplate kit with removable arms. To install a baseplate we need to temporarily remove the front fascia or bumper-cover. Just underneath the hood there's a series of fasteners we have to remove. We have a plastic fastener right here. Take the flat screwdriver, there's a little slot where you can put it in, and pull out the center, and work it loose. The trim panel tool works just a little bit better. more

Today on our 2014 Chevy Equinox, we'll be installing the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit with removable arms part number BX1689. To begin our install, we'll first go ahead and open up the hood. Next we'll need to remove multiple screw and push pin fasteners so that we can remove the front fascia. We'll remove the four Torx bit fasteners across the front fascia first. Next we're going to remove a push pin fastener in each side. We'll do one on each side. To remove the push pin fastener, we're just going to take a flat blade screwdriver, get underneath the center of the fastener and pry it up to release it. more

Blue Ox Base Plate Installation - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox- Video
Today on our 2010 Chevy Equinox we'll be installing the Blue Ox baseplate kit with removable arms, part number BX1689. To begin our install we'll first need to remove the front fascia. To remove the front fascia we'll go ahead and open up the hood and begin removing the fasteners under the hood. Starting from the center and working our way out, there are 4 Torx bit fasteners, 2 on each side. Remove the Torx bit fasteners and set them aside for installation later. Then begin removing the push-pin fasteners. There'll be a total of 6, 3 on each side. more

Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit Installation - 2013 Chevrolet Equinox- Video
Today on this 2013 Chevrolet Equinox we're going to install part number 3160-1A from Roadmaster. First off we need to get underneath the hood. We need to remove two plastic fasteners and four T20 torque bolts that attach the top of the fascia to the core support. Next we need to go in the fender well right where the bumper cover meets the fender body we'll go ahead and remove the screw. Now this screw is in a vertical position and it uses a 7 millimeter socket. Then along the edge o f the fender well going down towards the tire they'll be a couple more screws we'll have to remove and a couple of plastic fasteners. more

All right today, on this 2013 Chevrolet Equinox, we're going to install part number BX1689 from Blue Ox. Okay, all right, first thing we're going to do is go ahead and open the hood and we have to remove some fasteners so we can go ahead and remove the top part of the bumper fascia. Now, we have a total of four screws that we have to remove using the T20 Torx bit. There will be two on each side. All right, today on this 2012 Chevrolet Equinox were going to install part #: BX1689 from Blue Ox. Okay, first thing we need to do is go ahead and get underneath the hood and remove some fasteners. Therell be four screws across the front that we have to remove and plus two pushpins on each side that we have to remove. Next we need to go underneath the fender well on the driver side, therell be two fasteners to remove. Therell be a torque screw that well have to remove and also therell be a hex bolt that will be facing upwards in the fender well that we have to remove as well. Well do this on both sides of the vehicle. more

Roadmaster Base Plate Installation - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox- Video
Today on this 2010 Chevrolet Equinox we are going to install part number 3160-3A from Roadmaster. The first thing we need to do to get started is go ahead and open up the hood of the vehicle and get to some fasteners that attach to the bumper cover of the vehicle on top. There will be a variety of fasteners here. They go from here, all the way across to the other side. Four torque bits and one is a plastic rivet on each side.
