Hey everyone, Shane here with etrailer.com. Today I have a 2021 Chevrolet Spark, and I'm gonna walk through how to install the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate. We're gonna have removable arms. We're also gonna have a quick disconnect bar, or a crossbar, which means that we don't actually have to remove these. We take the two pins outta the top, we can lift the bar off, and leave it attached to our tow bar. Now if you decided you didn't want to take the crossbar off, you wanted to leave it on the vehicle. more

Hi there Chevrolet owners fitting your 2020 Chevrolet Equinox, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install CURT'S base plate. There are five main components you'll need when flat towing your vehicle behind your motor home you'll need your tow bar, which is the connection between your motor home and your vehicle. You need your base plate, which is the point on your vehicle where your tow bar will attach. You'll also need your safety cables which is a supplemental connection in addition to your tow bar. You'll need your diode wiring or a lighting solution that will provide all the signals from your motor home at the fact of the vehicles so people know your intentions when going down the road. The majority of it's completely hidden behind our fascia with some small portions for our attachments that poke through right through here. That requires very minimal to no trimming. We only had to make a very slight modification here and the only reason we had to do that was for our braking system components. This provides you with all the necessary connections you need for flat towing. It gives you your safety cable hookups, as well as your point for your tow bar to attach. more

There's five main components you'll need when flat towing your vehicle behind your motor home. You'll need your tow bar, which is the connection between your motor home and your base plate, your safety cables, which is a supplemental connection in addition to your tow bar. You'll need your base plate, which provides the connection point on your vehicle to attach your tow bar. It's going to come out right on the lower section of our grill and it's going to give us a solid attachment point, so we can hook our tow bar up to it and pull it behind our motor home.And one of my favorite parts about this base plate is the fact that we can actually remove the arm here, this silver piece. If we pull on this pull ring, we can actually rotate the arm and it will slide right out. Now, it has a lot cleaner of a look because we don't have as much sticking out of the front end. more

You can see it has a really clean appearance, because we're only going to see a little bit of it sticking out right here right where our tow hooks were, because it's actually going to replace the factory tow hooks. Hi there Tracker owners, today on your 2004 Chevrolet Tracker, we're going to be taking a look and showing you how to install Roadmaster's crossbar style baseplate kit. And this is what our baseplate looks like when it's installed. There's no modifications for the front fascia to get it installed. It simply goes right where your tow hook pops out on the driver's side and it's in a similar location on the passenger's side. The attachment points for your tow bar are removable. We've currently got it out and that way you can get a better factory look with it because it stays tucked in the bumper and you almost don't even notice it. more

It's also going to spread that towing force across the front end, so we are not putting so much strain and stress on the front suspension.Now, when we are flat towing, we obviously need a spot for our tow bar to hook up to, but let's face it, nobody wants this big black thing hanging out the front of their car and distracting from the looks of it. Well, Roadmaster took that into effect, and we can actually pull these out when we are not using them. more

Today we're going to be taking a look at how to flat tow your 2017 Chevrolet Colorado. We'll start with our base plate, which will be using Roadmaster's EZ5 base plate kit. This is what our base plate looks like when it's installed. What it's going to do, this is going to allow you to safely flat tow your vehicle behind your RV when you're traveling.It's going to have a black powder coat finish to resist any rust or corrosion. It's going to be one of five main components in a flat tow setup. The other four are going to be your tow bar, your wiring, your braking system, and your safety cables. Here's what our base plate looks like installed. Now the reason that you're going to want a base plate for your Malibu is that this will serve as the connection point for your two bars so you can safely two your Malibu behind your motor home. Now what's great about this base plate is it does have removable arms. So as you see it right now, this is with the arms removed. This maintains a nice clean look on your Malibu when you're not flat towing it.When you're ready to flat tow, you can simply take your arm, insert it with this tab at a horizontal angle, rotate it 90 degrees, and your arm will lock into place. more

Here's what our base plate looks like installed. It's a really sleek design. You see it just sits inside this recessed area, right where our tow hooks were. It doesn't even stick out past it, so you can hardly even notice that it's there. It doesn't really even look any different than factory.This round part here is where our removable arm is inserted to, and off towards the center of the vehicle we have our safety chain and cable attachment point right here. more

Speaker 1: Today in this 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, we'll be having a look at showing you to how to install the Road Master Easy Four Base Plate Kit removable arms, part number RM-423193-4.Here's what our baseplate looks like installed. As you'll notice, we have a nice clean look on the front of the vehicle, when we're not towing it. This way, it won't take away from looks of our car at all. Now, the reason you're gonna want a baseplate like this one is that this will allow you to flat tow your Equinox behind your motor home, and not have to worry about using a trailer or a dolly to bring your car with you when you go Rving.This baseplate features removable arms, which serve as the attachment point for our tow bar. You'll simply insert you arm with the tab horizontal here, push it, and the spring loaded pin will then lock as you rotate it 90 degrees, holding your arm in place. It's the same on both side.Now, next to your removable arm, we have our safety cable attachment point. more

Speaker 1: Today on this 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, we'll be having a look at, and showing you how to install, the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, with removable arms, Part #BX 1689.Here's what your base plate looks like installed. As you can see, we have a nice, clean look on our vehicle, when we're not hooked up to our motor home.This will make it, so people don't really even know that our car's been set up for a flat tow, and also, we don't have much sticking out past the front, so it's not something we're going to walk into, as we walk in front of the vehicle.Inside our sockets where our arms go, we have these plugs we can place in, so when we're not telling, we can keep dirt and debris outside of the plug, making it easy to insert our arms.We have our safety cable attachment points right here. We have hardward amount of breakaway switch, if we're using a separate metal braking system, and we have two prongs that come off the center, for any electrical attachments you may need, such as a six-way round, which we have here.Now, the reason you're going to want a baseplate, is because this provides the attachment point on your Equinox, behind your motor home. One thing that I really like about this baseplate is how easy it is to use. We'll simply pull out a plug, we'll take a removable arm, to make sure this tan is horizontal.Stick it in, press, rotate, and then, our spring loaded pin will lock it into place. This gives us the attachment point right here, for our tow bar. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Colorado, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster easy four baseplate kit with removable arms, part number RM-523182-4.This is what our baseplate looks like when it's installed. As you can see, it's gonna sit nice and tucked in underneath our fascia. It's not gonna stick out too far. It also is gonna come through the holes on our tow hooks or where our tow hooks were, so we're not gonna do any cutting or modifications on our fascia itself. It's gonna have a nice, black powder coat finish to resist any rusting and corrosion. You can see here, this is where your safety chain rings or safety chain hooks would attach. more

Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2018 Chevrolet Sonic- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Chevrolet Sonic we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Blue Ox base plate kit with removable arms, part number BX1703. Now keep in mind this is only gonna be one component of the safe, complete flat tow set up. For a complete set up you are gonna need a base plate, tow bar wiring, a tow bar, and a braking system. Specifically for our Sonic we also used a fuse master and fuse bypass because we do need to pull fuses for them.Here's what our Blue Ox base plate kit looks like installed on our Sonic. It's gonna serve as that connection point between our motor home and our Sonic to make sure that we can hook up and safely tow it down the road. Now one thing I do want to mention the breakaway switch as well as the electrical and other connectors here are not included in the kit but they're just there because we got everything installed to complete our flat tow set up. more

Now, here's what your baseplate's gonna look like installed. As you can see with the removable arms we're able to really camouflage it, it doesn't add a whole lot of difference in the look quality of the front of your vehicle.What you'll have exposed is gonna be the pocket, and where you'll add your removable arms. You'll see they provide dust caps to keep dirt and debris out. You just want to slide your arm in. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, we're going to be installing Roadmaster's EZ5 base plate kit, part number RM-523193-5. This base plate's going to allow you to hook your vehicle up to the back of your RV. So you no longer need to get a dolly or trailer to haul that car behind you.The detachable arms can be removed by releasing the pin here and sliding and spinning it outward. This way when you're not hauling your vehicle behind your RV, you can remove these, you don't have to worry about those hitting anything when you're parking.There's a location on each side of the base plate to hook up the safety chain. So when you're flat towing it behind your RV, you've got that extra layer of security. There's two brackets located on your base plate. more

This is what our base plate looks like installed. What's really great about this base plate, which sets it apart from other options in the market, is how clean it looks once it's installed. With the removable arms out for when you're not towing it, the only part you're going to see is our safety chain attaching point right here by our license plate. This gives it a really great clean look. Now, the socket for removable arm is recessed inside the bumper, so you can barely see it.When we do need to tow, we can take our arm. more

Here's what our base plate looks like installed. As you can see with our arms removed we have a nice, clean look on the front of the vehicle. The safety cable attachment point doesn't stick out very far passed our fascia, in fact it's behind our license plate bracket so we have no added length to the vehicle at all.Now when it comes to flat towing a vehicle you are going to need to have a lighting system of some sort on it. This base plate has prongs on it that we can attach a wiring bracket for any wiring that we have. In our case we have a four-pole flat for our wiring. more
