Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar Installation - 2018 Ford F-53 RM-1139-145

Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com, and today you're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster rear anti-sway bar on our 2018 Ford F-53 Chassis Motorhome. Now, whether you're new to driving a motor home or you've been doing it for a while, you'll realize real quickly how unstable they feel and just kind of how much body roll and uncomfortable the ride is. Because when we're going down the highway, let's face it, there's a lot of area here for that wind to catch, and we end up getting pushed around. So we end up fighting the steering wheel, trying to stay in our lane, or if we're going down some bumpy roads, we ended up getting jostled around. By the time when we get where we're going, we're extremely tired. Not to mention everybody in the back's getting tossed around. more

Ryan: How's it going Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today, on our 2019 Ford E-Series cutaway, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster rear anti-sway bar. Now, our motorhomes are big squares that are known to be top heavy, which can be really difficult to drive straight down the road, especially on those windy days or on that bumpy terrain. Well, that's where the rear sway bar is going to come into play. It's going to help stiffen up that chassis and help eliminate that sway in the motorhome, making it a lot easier to keep in a straight line and drive without worrying too much. Now, since the sway bar is in the back, it's really only going to help combat that sway here in the rear of the camper, but to help offset that and do the same thing upfront, I'd recommend the Roadmaster front anti-sway bar. Now, let's go ahead and take our motorhome on the test course. more

Today on our 2018 Ford F-53 Chassis Motorhome, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Front Anti-Sway Bar, part number RM-1139-140. Having a motorhome can be great, but one thing that nobody really seems to talk about is how difficult it can be to drive sometimes. Because let's face it, we have a large area for wind to catch that can start pushing us around when we're driving down the road, which can be a little spooky for some people, and not that enjoyable. What our Roadmaster Anti Sway for side to side movement, what a good set of shocks would do for the up and down. It's going to take a lot of that pressure off, and we're not going to have so much wind, feeling like it's pushing us around, which means we can relax more and not fight that steering wheel. So here, you can see the difference between our factory sway bar and our new Roadmaster. Our factory one is going to be an inch and a half in diameter, whereas our Roadmaster is going to be an inch and three quarters in diameter. more

Today on our 2018 Ford F53 Chassis Motor-home, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Road Master Reflex Steering Stabilizer, Part Number RM-RBK22-RSSA.A lot of things can cause our motor-home to veer, whether it be uneven pavement, a really strong crosswind, or even just the crown on the road. Once it starts to veer we have to fight that steering wheel to get our motor-home back to center. That can be extremely tiresome, especially on those long trips. Our Road Master Reflex Steering Stabilizer is going to minimize a lot of that. We're not gonna feel so tired, because we're not gonna have to fight the steering wheel trying to get it back to center. Here's where our steering stabilizer is gonna look like once we have it installed. Our steering stabilizer is gonna have this spring, when it's in the center position it'll have a little bit of tension, but once we turn one way the spring is gonna extend and naturally wanna come back to its resting state. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 Ford F-53 chassis we're going to be installing Roadmaster's Reflex Steering Stabilizer Part Number RM-RBK22-RSSA. This steering stabilizer is going to help reduce fatigue when driving down the road. The large spring and dampener will absorb shocks on the road from uneven pavement, potholes and rough terrain. What this means for you is that when you're driving down the road it's going to easier to maintain a straight line in your vehicle so you're going to have a safer journey to your destination.Additionally, since it's doing some of the work for you with its gash shock dampener and the large spring that helps return it to center you're going to have more energy when you get to your destination because it's going to help bring that back to center without you having to do it all yourself, struggling to maintain that straight line. It comes with everything you need to get it installed. I'll show you how to do that now. You'll begin your installation by parking your vehicle on level ground with the steering wheel completely straight. more

The additional diameter and extra strength of the beam will help to eliminate any rocking back and forth from uneven terrain by pulling the vehicle back to center and upright. What this means for you is you'll have less driver fatigue. If the vehicle's not rocking back and forth as much as it used to, you have less compensation at the steering wheel to maintain proper safe direction of the vehicle. When you get to your destination, you'll have more energy to do the things you enjoy doing. It's easy to install. There's no drilling required. more

By being a small diameter, it's not going to be very rigid. This isn't going to help us too much in minimizing the side-to-side movements of a motor home as we drive down the road. It's also going to tend to lead us to have a little bit more body roll than we would like to have.We hold up our replacement sway bar to it, you can see how much thicker in diameter it is. This is going to make it more rigid and help minimize the amount of body roll and side-to-side movement we're going to have as we drive down the road, giving us the stability and the safety that we're looking for. What I mean by that is, is if you're driving your RV down the highway and you hit a crosswind or maybe you passed a semi trailer, you know how big those are, and when they push that wind, because the RV is top heavy, it wants to lean. When it leans, the driver has to fight the steering wheel. It causes fatigue. What this is gonna do for you, say you turn one way and it compresses, when you let go of the steering wheel, that spring is gonna force it to come back out, and bring your steering wheels back to straight. more

And before doing that, if you're going to do this and lift the vehicle where your wheels are off the ground, you wanna make sure you put jack stands and support this axle. Because what's gonna happen is when you take this plate off, the axle will drop. So you need to make sure you have it sitting on something. What you're gonna wanna do is you're gonna wanna spray down each bolt with some lubrication, just gonna help these come off a little bit easier. more

Speaker 1: Today, on our 2017 Newmar Canyon Star on our Ford F-53 Chassis, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the ROADMASTER rear anti-sway bar. Part number RM-1139-149. Customer: I've had it for five months now, and we've already put 10,000 miles on it, and when we drove from Kansas City to Minot, North Dakota and back, we've got a lot of crosswinds and stuff. And although this thing handles pretty good, when you get in the crosswinds and you get a lot of tractor trailers flying by you, it takes off and will try to push you off to the side and then, suck you back onto the road, and I didn't like that. So we started looking for some enhancements to enhance the handling and stability of it, and found etrailer online, and I had looked at them before for some other stuff years ago and used them. So I thought, "Let me check and see if they've got anything," and sure enough, they did, and we ordered it, didn't quite get everything we we're trying to get. more

Part number is RM-1139-147.Now here's our Road Master Sway Bar once we have it installed. Now this sway bar is going to do a much better job then our factory sway bar at preventing that side-to-side body roll. That's something that's typically going to happen if you're in severe crosswinds, passing an 18 wheeler, uneven road surfaces can cause the RV to lean a little bit side-to-side and ultimately that leads to you having to put more input into the steering to keep it tracking straight down the road. When we put on an upgrade this substantial you're going to have a noticeable difference in the way your RV handles so as you're cornering through mountain roads through stuff like that, you're RV will stay a lot more level, but also just in your normal straight highway style driving, a lot less driver input going in there. You're going to reduce the driver fatigue and you won't have to fight you steering wheel so much to keep going in a straight line. Now here's a good look at the difference you're going to have between the Road Master Sway Bar and your factor sway bar. Now this sway bar is a completely solid steel construction so it will be very rigid and will improve our handling dramatically on our motor home. more

Today on our 2016 Ford E450 Motor Home, we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the road master rear anti-sway bar, part number RM-1139-147. Here on our factory sway bar you'll see that we're going to have a lot of axle movement in relation to the vehicle. That's going to transfer into a lot of movement at the top of our RV. This is going to make for a lot more movement in the RV as we're heading down the road, making it a little more difficult to control. Here with our new sway bar installed, you're going to see a noticeable difference. You'll also feel a difference from inside the vehicle. We don't have nearly the weight transfer side to side at the top of the RV. more

Today on our 2016 Ford E450 Motor Home we are going to take a look at and show you how to install the Road Master Reflex Steering Stabilizer with mounting brackets for Class C Motor Homes. Part number is RM-RVK11-RSSC. Here you can see our factory stabilizer and it does an okay job of keeping our wheel from being pulled one way or another. The return to center kind of has some lag and you just don't feel like it wants to come back to the middle, it takes a lot of driver input. The Reflex Stabilizer installed, you can see of course it is going to do a good job of keeping our wheel from moving when we don't want to, but it also going to hold it in center. That way won't have to worry about our wheels being drug one way or the other. You can see as we go around the corners and it straightens back out, it returns to center much quicker, requiring a lot less driver input to get us heading the direction that we want to go. Here is what our stabilizer is going to look like installed. As you can see, really neat looking set up, you can really tell that you have upgraded this stabilizer with this set up. more

Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar Installation - 2015 Ford F-53 1139-144- Video

Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar Installation - 2015 Ford F-53 1139-144

Today on our 2015 Ford F53 Chassis Motorhome we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar, part number 1139-144. Here we are with our manufacturer's suspension setup. As you can see, our motorhome's going to sway back and forth quite a bit, and the swaying motion's going to add fatigue to the driver trying to always keep your vehicle in a straight line. You can see as we're going, even on a straightaway here, we're getting a lot of side-to-side swaying motion, and that's causing a lot of feedback in our steering wheel from the swaying action in the rear of the motorhome. As we go back and forth now, you can see that our suspension has stiffened up a lot, and our vehicle's not swaying anywhere as near as much as it did before. It's going to give you a better feeling going down the highway. We'll begin by loosening up the four bolts that hold our four u-bolt nuts, and we're going to slide a plate up on there, and we're going to put our nuts back in place. We'll go ahead, and we're going to loosen these all up. These are going to be rather tight, so you're going to want to use a nice long breaker bar to get them loose. more

Today on our 2016 Ford E-450 motor home, we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Blue Ox TigerTrak rear axle stabilizer. Part number is TT2450. Right here's what our bar's going to look like once we have it installed. As you can see, axle bracket here gives us a great solid, sturdy connection point. That ties our axle directly up here to our frame. In doing this, we're going to eliminate the movement that we have here between the frame and the springs. That's going to give us a much stiffer rear end, so we're not going to have that wagging as we're heading down the road. more

You can tell it is definitely been upgraded, it is much beefier. What this is going to do, this is going to help our driving characteristics as we are maneuvering and making corners, it helps our vehicle stay much more flat, so we don't get that feel that we are swaying so far side to side. more

Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar Installation - 2006 Ford E-450- Video

Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar Installation - 2006 Ford E-450

Today on our 2006 Ford E450 with an RV body, we're going to review and install the Road Master rear anti-sway bar, part number RM-1139-147. With the manufacturer's sway bar, when we went over the uneven bumps we got a lot of body roll, because of the jostle and impact to the vehicle. With the new Road Master sway bar in place, we get a much firmer feel of the vehicle, not only in the steering, but also minimizes the body roll and impact from the uneven bumps or our parallel bumps, such as a speed bump. Now let's go ahead and show you how to install it. Now to begin our install, we need to remove the old or manufacturer's rear sway bar, that's just in front of and behind the rear axle. Keep in mind that each process we do here on the driver's side, is going to get repeated identically on the passenger's side, as all of our attachment points are the same. Now to start, I'm going to go ahead and spray the sway bar link - where it connects to the sway bar - threads so we can remove the nut. Over time you're going to build up with rust, dust, dirt and debris, and by spraying with a spray lubricant, you make it easier to remove them. Once we take the nut off, we can then go ahead and take off the metal washer, and the rubber bushing. more

Part number R-M dash R-B-K-1-1 dash R-S-S-C. Now here's what the reflex steering stabilizer will look like once it's installed. The steering stabilizer is designed to help resist the side to side motion if you run across a pot hole or an uneven portion of the road. It'll also assist in returning the steering wheel back to the center after sharp or wide turns. Alright, now let's go and show you how to install it. Now to begin our install, we need to remove the older manufacture's steering stabilizer. Start our removal, we're going to remove the two U-bolts that secure it here to the drag lane. Next, we need to remove the three fasteners that secure the bracket to the frame. more

Roadmaster Front Anti-Sway Bar Installation - 2006 Ford E-450- Video

Roadmaster Front Anti-Sway Bar Installation - 2006 Ford E-450

Today on our 2006 Ford E450 Super Duty, we're going to review and install the Roadmaster Front Anti-Sway Bar for Motor Homes, part number RN-1139-115. As we go down the road, it'll reduce the body roll, tire wear and driver fatigue. Now, with the old or manufacturer's sway bar link installed, we had a lot of sway when we cornered going down our slalom course. With our new Roadmaster sway bar link installed, we've taken a lot of that body roll out and sway from the top-heavy of our motor home body. As the body rolls, the sway bar will push down to compensate and try and keep the frame and body together as they corner. With the manufacturer's sway bar when we went over the uneven bumps we got a lot of body roll because of the jostle and impact to the vehicle. more
