Today on our 2013 Ford Escape, well be test fitting the Sport Rack Escape Three Bike Hitch Mounted Folding Bike Rack for inch and a quarter and two inch hitches, part number a30403. Now to begin our test fit using the included adapter for the two inch hitch, well slide the shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole, and install and tighten down the anti-rattle bolt, with the bolt tight our bike rack is secured to the vehicle. Well now go ahead and give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance here at the back of the bike rack measures 11-3/4 inches and from the closet point of the bike rack here at the mask to the back of the vehicle measures eight inches. We can now pull the pin here at the bottom of the mask which will allow us to bring the mask down. We can then open up our cargo door and as you can see we can still gain access to the cargo area even with this bike rack secured to the vehicle. more

Today on our 2013 Ford Escape, well be test fitting the Thule Apex Swing Four Bike Carrier, part number th9027. Well begin by sliding the bike rack shank into the hitch and allowing the integrated locking hitch pin to fall into the hitch pin hole. We can then move to the anti-rattle knob where well tighten the knob down securing our bike rack to the vehicle. Well now go ahead and give you a few measurements, our ground clearance measures 11-1/2 inches and from the closest point of the bike rack here at the anti-rattle knob to the back of the vehicle measures one and half inches. Well now go ahead and pull the hitch switch at the top of the mask and bring out our dual arms where well undo the straps to expose our cradles. Well place the bike into the cradles and bring the straps around securing the bike to the bike rack. more

The closest part of the vehicle to the closest part of the carrier is about five and a half inches. Weve added about 12 and a half inches to the overall length of the vehicle. With this bike carrier, you will not be able to have access to your trunk bed as the tailgate hits the mast of the carrier. To load the bike, well pull the red latch located at the top of the mast, swing the cradle arms out and undo the cradle straps. more

Now to begin our test fit well slide our bike rack shank with the included adapter into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole, and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt. With our bolt tight our bike rack is secured to the vehicle. Now well go ahead and give you a few measurements, our ground clearance at the bike rack is 23-1/8 inches and from the closet point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle is 10-1/2 inches. Now well go ahead and unfold the bike rack platform and open our cargo door and as you can see we can gain full access to the cargo area opening our cargo door completely with this bike rack. Were now almost ready to load our bike, all we need to do is make sure that our wheel loop straps are undone and out of the way and that our vertical bar clamp is fully extended. more

With the included adapter already on the bike rack well slide the bike rack shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt. With the bolt tight, our bike rack is secured to the vehicle. Now well go ahead and give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance at the bike rack is 10 inches, and from the closest point of the bike rack platform to the vehicle is three inches. Well now go ahead and unfold the bike rack platform and give you a few more measurements. more

Well then put the safety clip on the other side of the pin, which will secure out bike rack to the vehicle. Now well go ahead and give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance at the bike rack is 15 inches, and from the closest point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle is six and a half inches. Well now go ahead and unfold the bike rack platform and open our trunk. more

A quick note on this bike rack, this bike rack will work on both inch and a quarter and two inch hitches Class I through Class III, however when using in a Class I hitch you are limited to two bikes. Well begin by sliding the bike rack shank into the hitch and allowing the integrated locking hitch pin to fall into the hitch pin hole. Well then move to the anti-rattle knob where well tighten it down, securing the bike rack to the vehicle. Well now go ahead and give you a few measurements. more
