Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2020 Ford Ranger, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster direct connect base plate kit with removable arms. So this is what the base plate is gonna look like whenever you're not using it, whenever you're not flat towing behind your motor home. And honestly, as far as the appearance goes I really don't think it can get much better than this. Since the base plate just replaces your factory tow hooks, it's really not gonna look out of place or stick out too much. And since we do have this opening here that was originally for our tow hooks, it's gonna give us enough room to easily access everything and make hooking it up really straight forward. more

Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit Installation - 2020 Jeep Gladiator- Video
Hi there, Jeep owners. Today on your 2020 Jeep Gladiator, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Roadmaster's Crossbar Style base plate.And this is what our base plate looks like when it's installed. Our connection for our tow bar does pass through our under shield here at the bottom, but it stays tucked up nicely underneath the bumper. So it doesn't detract from the looks of the vehicle. In my opinion, on your Jeep, it almost makes it look more aggressive, like you really have something that you're going to be doing with this Jeep. The points where it passes through are going to give you an attachment point for your crossbar style arm, as well as a safety chain attachment right here on the side. more

Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2012 GMC Terrain- Video
Connor: Hey everybody, how's it going Connor here today at etrailer.com, we're going to be taking a look at the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit here for our 2012 GMC Terrain. So this is what our base plate is going to look like while it's installed on our vehicle here. As you can see, most of everything is going to be behind the scenes here, behind our bumper fascia. The only thing we're going to be able to see really sticking out is our connection points for our safety chains as well as the rods which hold our electrical connector to the base plate kit. So what I really like about this Blue Ox Base Plate Kit here in particular, is the removable arm design. And essentially what this means is, you can see these silver lugs here on either side which connect to our tow bar, these are actually removable because this base plate kit has a removable arm design.So basically, when we're not towing our vehicle behind our motor home, we can remove these arms here for a very finished, clean install. more

So these factory openings pop out and that's where our base plate comes through, and so they're going to be kind of tucked back a little bit, not very visible, but still easy to get to.And with this one, you're really not going to have to trim a whole lot. more

As we can see, it has a super nice factory clean finish like install look. It's just barely going to protrude from the bumper facia here and the majority of it is going to insert through where our factory tow hooks were, which means there's going to be very minor modifications needed to install this.So right now, as we said, we have it in the configuration that we would just be driving around town. more

We have our base plate of course, we have our tow bar, we have our wiring, we have our safety cables and we have our supplemental braking system.Our base plate is going to be a steel construction with a black powder coat finish. It's going to look really nice on the front of our truck, and it's not going to stick out like some of the other base plates do. This does mount right up to where our tow hooks we're so we don't have to do any fascia trimming, which is really nice. more

Hi there, Jeep owners. Today on your 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler Unlimited we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Roadmasters Direct Connect base plate kit with removable arms.There's five main components you'll need when flat towing your vehicle behind your motor home. You'll need your tow bar, which is the connection between your motor home and your vehicle; you'll need your base plate, which is the connection point on your vehicle that you'll attach your tow bar to; you'll need to your safety cables, which is a supplemental connection in addition to your tow bar; you'll also need your diode wiring, which will take all the lighting signals from your motor home and transfer them to the lights at the back of your vehicle; as well as your supplemental braking system, which will apply the brake pedal in your vehicle when you hit the brakes in your motor home to help you come to a safe stop.And this is what our base plate looks like when it's installed. The majority of it's going to be hidden completely underneath our bumper behind our under shield here with just our connection points poking through. On each side you're going to have your connection point for your removable arms that will attach to your tow bar as well as your end sticking out where you can hook your safety cables to. When you're ready to use your tow bar, the removable ends will simply insert, twist, and then lock into place.Once we've got them installed, we can then attach our tow bar to the end here. more

The majority of it's completely hidden behind our fascia with some small portions for our attachments that poke through right through here. That requires very minimal to no trimming. We only had to make a very slight modification here and the only reason we had to do that was for our braking system components. This provides you with all the necessary connections you need for flat towing. It gives you your safety cable hookups, as well as your point for your tow bar to attach. more

This is going to be the main attachment point from our tow bar and our RV to our vehicle. Our main components are going to be our base plate, our tow bar, our safety chains, our supplemental braking system, and our smart diode wiring.So our base plate kit is going to come in a nice black powder coat finish. This is going to resist rust and corrosion very well over time. Our kit is also going to come with a nice bracket that's finished in the same black powder coat finish, and we can mount our wiring and our breakaway switch to that.One of my personal favorite features of this base plate kit is how nice it looks under the front of our Jeep. more
