We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, lining up our pin holes and inserting the pin with the red knob into the pin hole. We'll finally turn the black knob at the back of the shank to engage the anti-rattle device securing our Doubledown Ace to our Ford Escape.We'll now go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 17 inches of ground clearance at the rear of the carrier. The closest part of the carrier to the closest part of our Escape is here at the rear bumper about eight inches away. With the cradle arms folded down we've added about 14 inches to the overall length of the vehicle.We'll now pull the red lever at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out and with the cradle arms out we've added about 36 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. more

Today on our 2011 Ford Escape well be test fitting the Kuat Sherpa platform style aluminum two bike carrier, part #S102. Well begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, lining up the pin holes, inserting the pin to the pin holes and secure the lock on the side. Well then turn the black T-handle at the back of the shank to engage the anti-rattle device. Now that our Kuat Sherpa is secured to our Ford Escape well go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 21 inches of ground clearance at the rear of the carrier with the platform folded up. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of our Escape is here at the rear bumper about five inches away. Weve added about 16 inches to the overall length to the vehicle. To lower the platform well flip out the gold lever at the base of the carrier to tilt the platform down. With the platform folded down we have about 27 inches of ground clearance to the rear of the carrier. more

Now to begin our test fit, we'll simply slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, lineup our pinholes, allow the integrated hitch pin to fall into the hitch holes and turn the black knob to engage the anti-rattle device. Now, with our two-way Apex Swing secured to our Ford Edge, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how they fit together. We have about 13 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about three inches. With the cradle arms folded down, we've added about 11 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. We'll now pull the grey lever at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out, and with the cradle arms out, we've added about 34 inches to the overall length of the vehicle.To load the bike, we'll undo the cradle straps, place the bike into the frame cradles and secure with the straps. To access the cargo area, we'll unscrew the black T-handle at the base of the carrier and then lift up on the black T-handle with a gold post. more

With the platform folded down at the rear of the carrier, we have about 16 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about 2-1/2 inches, and weve added a total of about 30 inches to the overall length of the vehicle.Now with the platform folded down, you can see that we can easily have access to our vehicles cargo door. more

Today on our 2013 Ford Fusion we'll be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Traveler Four Bike Carrier, part number hr8500. To begin our test fit we'll slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line up our pin holes and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt. Now that our Traveler is secured to our Fusion we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how they fit together.We have about nine inches of ground clearance at the rear of the carrier. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about two inches. With the cradle arms folded down we've added about five inches to the overall length of our vehicle. We'll now pull the pin at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out. more

The shank of our carrier actually starts inclining right at the base of our bumper, and so our bumper clearance is zero, because our carrier and our bumper is flush with each other. more

With the anti-rattle bolt tight, our bike rack is secured to the vehicle. At this point we can go ahead and give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance at the bike rack measures 17 inches, and from the closest point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle here at the wheel loop measures 6 and a quarter inches. We'll now go ahead and unfold the bike rack platform. and open our cargo door. As you can see we can gain access to the cargo area even with this bike rack secured to the vehicle. more

We'll simply slide the shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole, and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt. Now that the bolt is tight our bike rack is secured to the vehicle. At this point we'll go ahead and give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance here at the bike rack is twelve inches, and from the closest point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle here at the mast measures seven inches. We'll now go ahead and pull the pin here at the bottom of the mast will will allow us to tilt the mast down, where we can then access our cargo area. As you can see we can gain access to the cargo area even with this bike rack secured to the vehicle. We'll now pull the pin here at the top of the mast and bring out the dual arms. more

With the platform folded up, weve added about 13 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. more
