Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2014 Chevrolet Malibu- Video
Today, on our 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Blue Ox base plate kit with removable arms. So, here's what our base plate looks like once we have it fully installed. Our base plate is gonna be the attachment point where our tow bar is gonna hook up to, so we can safely and securely flat tow our Malibu down the road. What you're really gonna like about the base plate is the fact that when we're not towing, we can pull on this tab, right here, the arm will rotate, and then we can pull it out and we'll have a very inconspicuous look. Like most base plates, we're gonna have our safety cable connection points, right here, next to the arms. And as you can see, we'll have plenty of room to get those hooks on or off and not have to worry about fighting the grill or any part of the car. more

Hi there, vehicle owners! Today on your 2021 Buick Encore GX, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Roadmaster's Direct-Connect Baseplate. And this is what our baseplate looks like when it's installed. Our attachment points do pass through the fascia but you can see that they're tucked back fairly nicely to where it really doesn't detract from the looks of the vehicle. And also if you we're walking by here in the front, there's really little chance you're gonna be hitting your shins on anything. The black powder coat finish helps it blend into the area on our grill here where it passes through. So all in all, I think it's a really good look at the front of our vehicle. more

Your other four are gonna be your tow bar, which is the connection point between your base plate and your motor home; safety cables, which is the secondary safety device; braking system, which is required by law in any vehicle over a certain weight when it's being flat towed behind a motor home; and your wiring. Your wiring allows the motor home to transfer lights to the back cover of your towed vehicle so that you're legal and safe. more

We're going to be showing you how to install the D-ring adapters for a roadmaster tow bar. D-ring adapters are going to be designed for bumpers like this; off-road bumpers. One thing to keep in mind is if you have an off-road bumper with D-rings on it, you need to contact the manufacturer make sure that the bumper is capable of towing. Because not all of them that have D-rings are capable of flat towing the vehicle behind our motor home, or being used to flat tow the vehicle. more

We're also gonna have a quick disconnect bar, or a crossbar, which means that we don't actually have to remove these. We take the two pins outta the top, we can lift the bar off, and leave it attached to our tow bar. Now if you decided you didn't want to take the crossbar off, you wanted to leave it on the vehicle. more

Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2017 Ford Focus- Video
Hi there Focus owners today on your 2017 Ford Focus we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Blue Ox base plates. And this is what our baseplate looks like when it's installed. We do currently have the arms in place where you would attach your tow bar to but if you're going to drive the vehicle around town you can pull the pin and twist these and they can be removed, so you can have a cleaner look here at the front. When you are ready to flat tow you can then just insert these in place push and twist until they click in, and now we've got our attachment points for our tow bar just to the inside of that, we've got our attachment for our safety cables. And just below on the driver's side where the safety cable attaches, you've got a mounting point for your breakaway switch. Towards the center of our baseplate, we've got two bars that come out and that's going to give us an attachment point for our electrical connector, so you can put a six pole connector up here really easily, and it bolts right up to it. more

First one's gonna be the Base Plate and that's gonna provide us with a solid and reliable connection point that way we can hook our Tow Bar up to it. Hey everybody, how's it going Today we're going to be going over and showing you how to install the Roadmaster direct connect base plate kit here on our 2017 Jeep Cherokee. So the base plate kit here is just going to be one of the several other things we're going to need to successfully flat tow our Cherokee here. Now a lists of some of those other things such as the tow bar. Now our particular tow bar comes with safety cables but if yours doesn't or the one you're looking at doesn't you will need to pick up some of those as well because they aren't required component. A few of the other things is going to be a breaking system A lot of States now require a vehicle over a certain weight to use a supplemental braking system. So more often than not you're going to be required to use that in your state. more

There are five main components you'll need when flat towing your vehicle behind your motor home you'll need your tow bar, which is the connection between your motor home and your vehicle. You need your base plate, which is the point on your vehicle where your tow bar will attach. You'll also need your safety cables which is a supplemental connection in addition to your tow bar. You'll need your diode wiring or a lighting solution that will provide all the signals from your motor home at the fact of the vehicles so people know your intentions when going down the road. And lastly you'll need is a supplemental braking system which will apply the brakes in your vehicle when you hit them in your motor home to have you come to a safe stop. more

Our key components of our flat towing setup consists of our base plate, and that's going to be the key attachment point to our vehicle's frame allowing us to attach our next component which is going to be our tow bar and this attaches to our motor home, and then to the base plate attached to our car. We're now going to have our safety chains. Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2020 Ford Ranger, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster direct connect base plate kit with removable arms. So this is what the base plate is gonna look like whenever you're not using it, whenever you're not flat towing behind your motor home. And honestly, as far as the appearance goes I really don't think it can get much better than this. Since the base plate just replaces your factory tow hooks, it's really not gonna look out of place or stick out too much. And since we do have this opening here that was originally for our tow hooks, it's gonna give us enough room to easily access everything and make hooking it up really straight forward. more
