Saris Axis 3 Bike Rack Review - 2014 Chevrolet Suburban

Today on our 2014 Chevrolet Suburban, we're going to be test fitting the Saris Axis, a tilting three bike rack for 1-1/4 inch and 2 inch hitches, part number SA843B. To begin our test fit, we're going to slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pinholes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt from the left to the right side of the rack. We'll then tighten it down with the wrench and secure it with a provided lock. In this position, we have about 22-1/2 inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 6-3/4 of an inch away, and overall we've added about 15 inches to the length of our Suburban. Pulling the yellow T-handle at the base of the mast will allow us to tilt it away from our vehicle. As you can see, this does give us full access into the hatch. With our mast back in its upright position, it's now time to extend our dual cradle arms. more

Today on our 2014 Chevy Cruze we'll be test fitting the Saris Access Hitch Mounted Aluminum 3-Bike Rack, part number SA843B. With the 2" adapter removed from the shank of the rack, we'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank into the opening of the hitch. After lining up the pin holes we'll thread in our anti-rattle bolt, tighten it down with a wrench, and secure it with the lock on the other side. With the bike rack secured we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 8" of ground clearance. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 5" away and we've added about 15" to the overall length of our Cruze. We can now flip up the yellow levers on the upper left and right hand corner of the mast. more

With our rack in this position, we have about 8 and a quarter inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of the Cruze is about 5 inches. Overall we've added about 8 and three-quarters of an inch to the vehicle. With our mast in its upright position, we do have access into the trunk. more

The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about six inches away. Overall, we've added about thirty-one inches to the length of the Suburban. Pulling the silver pin and clip at the base of the mast will allow us to tilt it away from our vehicle. more

After lining up the pin holes, well insert our pin through the pin holes, secure the lock on either side, and then we can turn the black T-handle at the back of the shank, which will engage the anti-rattle device. With the bike rack secured, well go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 10 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of our Cruze is about 6 inches away, and weve added about 12 inches to the overall length of our Chevy. more

For today's test fit we'll be using the Hidden Hitch Ball Mount with an extra long shank, part number 80232 - and it is sold separately. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the ball mount into the opening of the hitch. We'll then line up our pinholes, slide in our pin, and secure it with the clip. For our test fit today we're using a simple pin and clip. As you can see, this does allow for movement or shake in our bike rack. more

To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pin holes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt, and tighten it down with a wrench. We'll then secure it using the provided clip. In this position, we have about 22-1/2 inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 9-1/2 inches away, and overall, we've added about 15-1/4 inches to the length of our Suburban. Pulling the black pin and clip at the base of the mast allows us to tilt it away from our vehicle. As you can see, this gives us full access to our rear hatch. With our mast back in its upright position, we'll now extend our dual cradle arms. To do this, we're going to loosen the black knob located on each side of the rack, move the arms outward, rotate them up into position, and then tighten down that black knob to secure them in place. more

Today we have a 2014 Chevy Tahoe, and we'll be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Traveler Hitch-mounted Hanging 5 Bike Rack, part number HR9200. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. We'll need to line up the pinhole in the shank of our rack with the pinhole in our hitch. Once we do that, we'll thread in our anti-rattle bolt. The anti-rattle bolt is just going to help prevent any wiggle or wobble within the hitch. Once we get that finger tight, we'll then tighten it down using a wrench, give it a good shake, and then we'll secure it with a clip on the other side. With the bike rack secure, we'll go ahead and give you a couple of clearance measurements. For ground clearance, we have about 22-1/4 inches. Closest part of the rack to the closest part of the vehicle is going to be about this angled piece right here. more

We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the rack into the opening of the hitch. We'll then need to line up the pinhole and our rack here with the pinhole in our hitch. Once that's done, once we have the pinholes lined up, we'll thread in the anti-rattle bolts, then we can tighten it down using a wrench. Got everything all nice and snug, then we can go ahead and secure it with a clip on the other side, and then we'll go over a couple clearance measurements for you. Alrighty, ground clearance we have about 25 and 1/4 inches. Closest part of the rack to the closest part of the vehicle looks to be right at where the shank starts to rise up, about 5 inches away. more

The bike rack is kind of heavy so maybe it will be difficult just to get the pinholes lined up. We'll take our antiradar bolt and because the 7-way here is on our vehicle we'll need to insert the bolt from the passenger side. We'll thread-in the antiradar bolt good finger-tight and then we'll tighten it down using a wrench. more

We'll tighten that down, and we'll secure it with the provided clip here on the other side. Now, the rack's going to offer us about 22-1/2 inches worth of ground clearance. more

Speaker: Today we have a 2014 Chevy Tahoe and will be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Traveler Hitch Mounted Hanging 4 Bike Rack, part number HR8500. Well start off our test fit by sliding the shank of the rack into the opening of the hitch. Well then need to line up the pin hole on our bike rack here with the pin hole on our hitch. Slide it in, then well thread in our anti-rattle bolt and well tighten it down using a wrench and once everything is all nice and snug, well then secure it with a clip here on the other side. With the bike rack secured, well now go over just a couple clearance measurements. From the back of the bike rack, we have about 22 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the rack which is about this angle piece here to the rear bumper is about 3 inches away and then overall, weve added about 10-1/4 inches to the overall length of our Tahoe. Now what well need to do is remove this black pin here at the top of the mast, pop that off, pull the pin out. more

To access the cargo area, we can remove the 3 silver pins at the base of the bike rack and tilt down the wheel cradles, as well as the mast. more

When I lift up on the gray lever at the top of the mast it'll swing the cradle arms out. With the cradle arms out we've added about 36" to the overall length of our Suburban. more

The closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 2 inches away. We've added about 19 inches to the overall length of our Suburban. We can now lift up on the gray lever at the top of the mast and swing out our dual arms. With the cradle arms out, we've added about 29 inches to the overall length of our Suburban. To access the cargo area, we can lift up on the lever at the base of the bike rack and tilt the mast down. more

To access the cargo area, we can remove the pin at the base of the bike rack, and tilt the mast down. As you can see, we can easily gain access to the rear hatch. To load up a bike, we'll make sure the mast is in its upright position. more

With the cradle arms out, we've added about forty-one and a half inches to the overall length of our Suburban. To access the cargo area, we can remove the black pin at the base of the bike rack and tilt the mast down. As you can see, we can easily gain access to the rear hatch. To load up a bike, we'll make sure the mast is in its upright position. more

Today on our 2007 Chevrolet Suburban, we will be test fitting the Thule Hitching Post Pro tilting 4 bike rack for inch and a quarter and two inch hitches part number TH934XTR. To begin on our test fit, we will slide the shank of our bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pinholes, thread in our anti rattle bolt and tighten it with the wrench. By pulling the pin at the base of the bike rack, we can tilt it away from our vehicle, giving us full access to our rear hatch. By pulling the pin at the top of our bike rack, we can extend our dual cradle arms, we'll reinsert the pin to secure those in place. With our arms secure, we'll undo our cradle straps exposing our cradles, grab our bike, place it directly onto the cradles and secure it with the three cradle straps. With our bike loaded up, we are ready for the road and that will complete today's test fit of the Thule Hitching Post Pro part number TH934XTR on our 2007 Chevrolet Suburban. . more

We will then use the black knob to engage our anti-rattle device and further secure our rack to our vehicle. With our bike rack in this position, we'll have about 21 inches of ground clearance. The closest point of the bike rack to the back of the Suburban is about an inch and three-quarter and overall, we've added about 18 and three-quarters of an inch to our vehicle. Pulling the gray handle on the top of the rack allows us to swing out our dual cradle arms. In this position, we've added about 31 and a quarter inches to the length of our car. Pulling the gray handle at the base of the rack allows the mast to tilt away from our vehicle. This will give us full access to our rear hatch. With our mast back in its upright position, we're ready to load our bike. more

The closest point of the rack to the back of the vehicle is about 6-1/2 inches, and overall, we've added about 11-1/2 inches to our Suburban. By pulling the gray handle at the base of the rack, it allows it to tilt away from the vehicle. In this position, at the rear of the rack, we have about 25-3/4 inches of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to our vehicle is now about 4-1/2 inches, and overall, we've added about 31-1/2 inches to the car. In this position, we have full access to our rear hatch. more

The closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 4-1/2 inches away, and we've added about 33 inches to the overall length of our Sonic, and also with the platform down, you can see that we can easily access the trunk. Now, we're ready to load our bike. more
