Thule Apex 4 Swing Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2012 Honda CR-V

Today on our 2012 Honda CRV, well be test fitting the Thule Apex Swing Four Bike Carrier, part number TH9027.We'll begin by sliding the bike rack shank into the hitch and allow the integrated locking hitch pin to fall into the pin hole. We can then move to the anti-rattle knob where we'll tighten down the knob, securing our bike rack to the vehicle. We'll now go ahead and give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance for this bike rack is 12 and a half inches and the closest point of the bike rack to the back of our vehicle measures six inches. In its folded position, we add about 14 inches of additional length to the rear of our vehicle. Now we can go ahead and pull the hitch switch at the top of the mast and bring out our dual arms where we'll undo the straps to expose our cradles. We'll place the bike into the cradles and bring the straps around securing the bike to the bike rack. Now the advantage to the Apex Swing is that it does have the ability whether a bike is loaded on it or not, to swing out towards the passenger side of the vehicle, completely out of the way of the cargo area. We'll undo the knob here at the back of the mast where we can then pull the T-handle and begin swinging the bike rack out. more
