Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2017 Ford F-150- Video

Today on our 2017 Ford F150, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha T-One vehicle wiring harness with a 7-way trailer connector.Here's what our wiring's going to look like once we have it installed. Now keep in mind that the brackets to mount it up are not going to come with the kit, so you may want to pick up a 7-pull bracket and a long bracket to mount to your hitch. Our wiring is going to give us a 7-way RV style connector so we'll have all of our light functions, our clearance lights, turn signals, brakes and reverse lights, and the option to put in a brake controller later on down the road.The nice thing about our wiring is that it is custom designed for our Ford F150 so we're not going to have to cut or splice any wires. Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2019 Ford Flex- Video

Speaker 1: Today on our 2019 Ford Flex, we're going to be installing Curt's T-Connect 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness, part number C56343.This four-pole flat trailer connector harness is going to provide you with all the necessarily lighting that you'll need for your trailer. This includes your left turn signal, right turn signal, tail lamps and brake lamps.It has a control module that taps into both the driver's and passenger's side tail lamp assemblies, so it can monitor the signals going to those tail lights and send the signals to your trailer. What's nice about this is this module has its own dedicated power circuit, so it doesn't use any of the power going to your vehicle's tail lights. So that way if there's any fault on your trailer, it'll only open the fuse going to this control module on your new harness, and not any of the fuses on your vehicle, protecting all the wiring on your vehicle.On the end of your harness you'll have a dust cap. It is designed to stay on the outside of the vehicle so it will be close by our hitch. It is going to give us a 4-pole flat trailer connector, so it will give us all the required lights to safely get down the road like our tail lights, turn signals, and our brake lights.We can use the dust cap cover to attach it to our safety chain loops whenever we're not using it. Now our stop and turn signals are going to have a maximum amperage of 4.3 amps, and our tail lights are going to have a maximum amperage of 7.5. That will give you plenty of power to power up all those lights on your trailer.Our kit is powered directly by the battery, so there is going to be very little strain on our electrical system, and it is going to protect our Edge from any kind of back feeding. Now, when we're not towing it, we can store our wiring inside of our trunk, either right here on the floor, or if we lift it up, we can store it by our spare tire so it's not gonna be in the way.As far as installation goes, we are gonna have a couple connections behind our tail lights that our harness is gonna plug into. You have a nice attached dust cap that's going to help keep any dirt and debris and moisture from getting on your connections and corroding over time.This wiring harness is going to have a power wire that's going to run up to the battery, so it's going to be drawing power from that instead of drawing power from the vehicle's taillights. How that helps is you're going to have 4.2 amps per circuit for your stop and turn signal, and then you're going to have 7.5 amps for your taillights. As you can see, when it's not in use it's designed to be stored inside our spare tire compartment on our vehicle, out of the way so it doesn't get damaged. When we want to use it, we can grab it, set it to the side of our latch here for our trunk. Now the reason we want to stay to the side of our trunk latch is because this is a pinch point and it could damage our wires. So make sure we have plenty of clearance and we'll lay it flat over the weather stripping and we can close our hatch over the wires.As you'll notice we have plenty of slack in our wires to get right next to the receiver on our hitch. more

Our white wire provides the necessary ground connection between our Transit Connect and our trailer. Our brown wire provides our taillight and running light function. On this circuit we have a total power output of six amps, which is more than sufficient to tow a trailer that has several incandescent light bulbs, or basically as many LED lights as we want, because they do draw less power. Tow Ready 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Wiring Harness Installation - 2018 Ford F-250- Video

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford F-250 we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tow Ready Fifth Wheen and Gooseneck Wiring Harness for aluminum truck beds. Part number 20110-010.Here's what the wiring looks like once you have it installed. This is going to make connecting up our trailer a lot easier, because we're not going to have to go underneath our tailgate and make the connection with the bumper. It's come to a bias with a seen way connector, it's going to have a nice spring loaded door with a gasket to keep any kind of moisture and debris out from the connector.Since the Ford trucks now have aluminum beds, our kit does come with aluminum screws, so you don't have to worry about any kind of corrosion from putting steel screws into the aluminum. Now, the kit does come with steel screws as well, if you have a steel bed, but again, if you have an aluminum bed, you're going to want to use those aluminum screws.Our harness is going to connect into our factory tow package here, at the back of our seven way on the bumper. We're going to have a T-connector system, it is an extremely simple connection and we're going to have 7 feet of wire to run from here to wherever we decide to mount it in the bed.Even with the wiring in the bed, we're still going to have our factory wiring and that's not going to be interrupted and that's not going to affect it at all. more

Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2010 Ford Escape- Video

Speaker 1: Today on our 2010 Ford Escape we're going to be installing Curt's vehicle wiring harness with a four pole flat trailer connector using part number C56329. This four pole connector is going to provide you with all your necessary trailer lighting, which includes your left turn, your right turn, tail lamps and brake lamp signals. This harness plugs inline with your existing tail lamp assemblies. The control box receives a fused power supply from the battery, so the lights going to your trailer aren't feeding off of your tail lamp circuits, but they have their own dedicated power circuit. This is great, because if you have a fault on your trailer that causes a short, or the fuse to open, it won't affect the tail lighting on your vehicle, just the fuse for the control box. Attached is a dust cap to help keep out dirt and debris, and it can also be used to help store it when not in use. more

Now your four-pole side is gonna provide you with your ground, both turn signals, and your running lights, along with your brake lights. It's kind of hard for you to see, but inside the lid here, we're gonna have a gasket that seals all the way around the plug. It's just gonna keep out that dust and that moisture, which can eventually cause corrosion and cause malfunctionings with your trailer. Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Ford Escape we're gonna be taking a look at, and showing you how to install, the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number HM11140514.So here's what our wiring looks like when it's fully installed. It is gonna stay on the outside of the vehicle at all times, and whenever we are ready to use it we can take of the dust cover from our hitch here, and that's gonna provide us with a 4-pole flat trailer connector, it's gonna give us all the required lights to get down the road safely, such as our headlights, taillights, and turn signals. One thing I do like about this wiring kit, is that right here on the of the 4-pole it does have a protective coating, and since it is on the outside that's a nice ting to have.Now that we've seen the end result, let's show you how we get it installed. To begin our installation we're gonna need to open up our rear hatch, so we can get access to our taillights so we can pull them out. Now on each side we're gonna have two plastic covers covering the bolts that are holding our taillight in. So I'm gonna take a flat blade screwdriver, and I'm actually just gonna come underneath these covers and pop them out. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2014 Ford Van- Video

Speaker 1: Today on our 2014 Ford Van we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the T-One vehicle wiring harness with a four-pole flat trailer connector, part number 118551.Here's what our wiring looks like when it's fully installed. Now it is gonna live on the outside of the vehicle and it's gonna provide us with a four-pole flat for our trailer giving us all the required lights to get down the road such as our turn signals, brake lights, and clearance lights.As far as the installation goes it's gonna be pretty straight forward. There's gonna be a few connections behind the taillights we're gonna have to make and then we're gonna have to run a line of wire up to the battery. Now that we've seen what it looks like when we're done let's show you how we get it installed.To begin our installation we're gonna need to remove our taillights and we're gonna have four fasteners holding them in place, I'm gonna be using a T15 torques bit to remove those. Once we have all the bolts removed we can grab the taillight and we gently pull it out and just push in on that tab, it should release the connector and we'll do the same thing for the other one. Now with this taillight removed we're gonna go ahead and do that on the other side too.We're gonna go ahead and grab our wiring harness and we're gonna start with a green wire on the passengers side. more

Now, it's going to give us a seven way RV connector inside of our truck bed, so we can easily hook up our fifth wheel or gooseneck trailer. Our wiring's going to have a plastic housing with a spring-loaded door, with a nice seal on the inside to keep out any moisture and debris from getting inside the connector.Our wiring kit's going to come with aluminum screws. That way, just like in our application, new trucks that have aluminum beds won't have to worry about the steel on aluminum contact creating corrosion. To begin our installation, we're going to get to the taillight housings removed here. We've got two torque bit screws. They're going to take a T-25 on the top and bottom we want to remove. We'll pull rearward on the housings, there's a couple pressure clips up here on the front edge. If we rotate that, you'll see right here we're going to have our connector. more

Our Hopkins wiring is going to stay inside our vehicle at all times, and it's going to be right behind our spare tire tools here. Whenever we're ready to tow we can just let our 4-pole hang down, we can close our doors up, and then our wires will be ready whenever we're ready to hook up. To begin our installation, we're going to be getting in our back hatch, so I'm going to open up the doors. I want to remind you if you have anything in the back it's going to make the installation go a little bit easier and a little smoother if you clear out the back area. Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Wiring Harness Installation - 2016 Ford F-250- Video

Today on our 2016 Ford F250, we're going to be taking a look and installing the tow ready fifth wheel and goose neck wiring harness with seven pole, part number 20110. To begin our installation, we're going to have to figure out a spot where we're going to mount our seven way plug. This general area is where we're going to be mounting it. Now I do want to mention before we start drilling or mounting anything, you need to double check to make sure that you have adequate amount of room to get the wires up here as well as there's nothing behind it that we're going to damage once we start drilling. Now I already checked and there's nothing back here and we do have adequate amount of room to get it up. I'm going to mark a hole, mark a spot right there and I'm going to drill a pilot hole to make it a little bit easier when I come back and drill my final hole. Now I'm going to be using a quarter inch drill bit. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2014 Ford Fusion- Video

Today on our 2014 Ford Fusion, we're going to be taking a look at the Curt 4-pole flat trailer connector, part number C56178. This is what our wiring is going to look like installed. It is going to stay inside the trunk at all times and what I like to do is simple put it underneath my mat or put it down by the spare tire and whenever I'm ready to use it, simple grab a little bit of wire, stay away from the center, make sure. As you can see, the weather stripping, it has a little bit of give so when you go to close your trunk, it's not going to hurt the wire and we can still pull our wire out to get as much or as little as we need to connect to our trailer. This is going to be everything that comes in the kit, and one of the nice features of this kit is the box. The converter box is going to keep any problems that may happen with your trailer from effecting your vehicle. Another nice feature is the T-connectors. more

Today on our 2016 Ford Transit T-350, we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Tekonsha T1 vehicle wiring harness with a four pole flat trailer connector. Part number is 118722. To begin our installation we'll open up the rear hatch here and we're going to pull the screw located right here and the one located right here so we can get this housing off of the vehicle. We'll do that with a T-25 Torx bit. Now we want to kind of pull kind of straight back on the light. There's a couple of pressure clips here we need to separate. more

All right, now when we're ready to tow a trailer all we have to do is open up our hatch. As you can see our wiring is nice and hidden away. We'll lift up our cargo cover here, we'll grab our trailer wiring, set it to the side of our trunk latch. Let it dangle down here right where our hitch is. Close our trunk on up and we can hook up to our trailer. more
