When it comes to flat towing your Jeep Gladiator, there's gonna be five main components that are gonna be required to safely do that. The first one is gonna be on the vehicle side, being the base plate. That's gonna structurally mount to the frame of the vehicle and give you the mounting point for your tow bar, as well as your other components. Your tow bar is gonna be the connection point between that base plate and the hitch on the RV. And just like a trailer, you have your safety cables that's gonna keep everything together just in case things were to accidentally disconnect. more

How Does the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Fit on a 2024 Ram 1500?- Video
Hey guys, it's Jake here with Etrailer. Today we have a 2024 Ram 1500 and we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna help you get install the Blue Ox Direct Connect base plate for flat towing. Your base plate is going to be the physical connection from your front of your truck so that you can connect up your tow bar to flat tow it down the road. What I really like about this particular base plate is that it's going to only stick out of your two openings where your safety tow loops would've been from the factory. Ours didn't have tow loops on it, so we just had to remove the plastic covers, but it looks really, really clean when it is on the front of your truck and when you're not flat towing, you can take these removable easy tabs out. You take those out and the only thing that you can really see is going to be this safety chain loop. more

Now this is what your base plate is gonna look like when it's installed, and the great part about this one is it slides right in between the grill slats, so that means you don't really have to trim anything out to get this to fit. And it works actually around the shutter, so that's really nice. With other brands out there, Roadmaster has another option for the Maverick that actually looks very similar. Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today, we're taking a look, and installing the etrailer Base Plate on a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee. There's five main components required for flat towing any vehicle. And starting on the vehicle side, we have our base plate, and that's gonna attach to the frame of the vehicle, creating a structural mounting point, for not only your tow bar, but all of your other components. So connecting to that base plate, we have the tow bar, so this will go from that base plate to the hitch on the RV, and that's what tows the car down the road. And just like a trailer, you do have safety cables, just in case of a disconnect, it's gonna hold everything together. We also have diode wiring, which is gonna transmit the light signals from the RV to the taillights on the towed vehicle, giving you your running lights, your turn signals, and brake lights, and sometimes, your braking systems will need to tie into diode wiring, so that is a highly recommended item. more

Now if you're looking into flat towing your Expedition, one of the components that you're definitely going to need is going to be a base plate. This mounts up to the car. What I like about the Expedition base plate, the Roadmaster version, is that it's gonna take the place of your tow loops on the front. So you really don't modify the front of the vehicle a whole lot compared to what it looked like before. more

Speaker We're rolling. Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at installing the Blue Ox baseplate on a 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500. There's five required components when flat towing any vehicle, and on our Chevy 1500 today, we'll start by taking a look at the baseplate. And the baseplate is gonna mount to where the factory tow hooks were, or structurally to the frame of the vehicle, creating a mounting point for the rest of your components, and also your tow bar. Tow bar is your second component, and that is connecting point between the baseplate and the hitch on the RV. Now just like a trailer, we have our safety cables here that'll attach to the tabs on the baseplate that are gonna be your safety chain loops, and then you'll just attach those to the safety chain loops on your RV. more

Now there's five main components required for flat towing your Equinox down the road, and we'll start on the vehicle side and that's gonna start with the base plate, and that attaches to the frame of the vehicle and gives us the structural mounting point for the rest of our connections. And the connecting point between the base plate and the hitch on the RV is gonna be your tow bar, and that's your second component. Again, this is the physical attachment, and basically like the coupler of your trailer, this is what is going to pull this down the road. Now just like a trailer, you also have safety cables, just in case of a disconnect, it's gonna attach to the safety chain loops, and then also the ones on the hitch on the RV. Now when it comes to flat towing any vehicle, there's gonna be five main components that are gonna be required and these are just the basics that you'll have to have. There's gonna be a few other things that you may need to add independent on your vehicle. And some of those auxiliary things would be a stoplight switch, a charge line, a high low adapter on our case, a 12 volt outlet kit for the portable braking system, but the main basics that you're gonna want to focus on, first, are gonna be the base plate, which is gonna attach to the frame of the vehicle and create the structural mounting point for all of your components to go on and safely tow the vehicle down the road. Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we have a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 and we're gonna be taking a look at, I'm gonna show you how to install the Roadmaster baseplate. Your five main components in order to flat tow your vehicle are going to be your tow bar, which is the direct connection between the motor home and your vehicle, the baseplate, which is going to be your physical connection to your vehicle, your diode wiring, which is going to give you your lighting signals at the back of your towed vehicle, the supplemental braking system, which helps to stop the vehicle behind the motor home so the motor home doesn't have to do all the work, and then finally, your safety cables. These are going to come into play in an unlikely disconnect. These will hold onto the vehicle so that you can come to a safe and slow stop. Adding a baseplate to the front of your GMC Sierra 1500 is going to allow you to flat tow it behind your motor home. more
