Trailer Hitch Installation - 2009 Toyota Prius - Curt

Speaker 1: Today on our 2009 Toyota Prius we're going to be taking a look at, and showing you how to install, the Curt Class One Custom Fit Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number C11468.Here's what our hitch is going to look like on our Prius. That cross tube is going to sit just right below the bumper and is going to be visible, but the main thing that we're going to see is the receiver tube sticking out. It's going to offer us an inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter opening, which is going to be perfect for adding a bike rack or cargo carrier to the back of our Prius. The way we're going to mount any of our accessories is going to be through the hitch-pin hole, here on the side. And it is going to accept a standard half-inch pin and clip, which are included with the hitch, which is always a nice added bonus. As far as the safety chain connection points go, it's going to be a loop-style welded to the bottom of the receiver tube and, as you can see, we're not going to have too much trouble getting most size hooks on or off. And, if we look, the hitch-pin hole is going to be slightly off-center, which is going to make it a lot easier to get those hooks in place and not have to worry about too much interference from the pin and clip or if you're using a locking device. As far as weight capacity goes, our hitch is going to have a 200 pound tongue weight, which is the maximum force at the receiver tube. more
