etrailer Trailer Hitch Installation - 2018 Mazda CX-5

Hi there Mazda owners, today in your 2018 Mazda CX-5, we're gonna be taking a look at, and showing you how to install etrailers class three, two inch trailer hitch receiver. And this is what our hitch looks like when it's installed. The cross tube's gonna be hidden completely behind the bumper. So you're just gonna see the receiver tube here at the back. So it really doesn't detract too much from the looks of the vehicle. I also like that the powder coat finish on this one is kind of a more matte textured finish, which matches the plastic of the lower portion of the fascia here. more

The cross tube's gonna be completely hidden behind the bumper, so we're not gonna have to worry about it hanging down or taking away from the looks of our Mazda. The main thing we're gonna see is that receiver tube sticking out, but it is gonna give us and inch and a quarter, by inch and a quarter opening. It's gonna be great for bike racks, cargo carriers, or some light duty towing. The way we're gonna mount any of our accessories is through the hitch pin hole here on the side. It is gonna accept standard, half inch pin and clip. These are not included in the kit, but you can pick 'em up here at etrailer.com, along with some locking devices to keep your accessories secure. If you do plan on doing some light duty towing, our safety chain connection points are gonna be loop style, welded to the bottom of the receiver tube. Best 2018 Mazda CX-5 Trailer Hitch Options- Video

Best 2018 Mazda CX-5 Trailer Hitch Options

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the best hitch options for your 2018 Mazda CX5. So here we have the two most popular options, up top here we're gonna have the Draw-Tite and down here we're gonna have the Curt.So here we have the Draw-Tite installed on our Mazda CX5, but I do wanna mention that both the Curt and the Draw-Tite are gonna sit about the same and the cross tube is gonna be hidden nicely behind the bumper and the main thing we're gonna see is the receiver tubes stickin' out.The first difference you're gonna notice right away is how they look. Our Draw-Tite is much narrower than our Curt, and that's because they're gonna mount slightly differently than each other. They're each gonna have two mounting locations on the side, but our Curt is gonna use two mounting locations on the side of our frame rail, whereas our Draw-Tite is gonna come up from the bottom and mount to our frame rail from underneath. Even though both of our hitches are gonna use four different mounting locations, I did find with the Curt having that long tab going along inside of the frame, it is slightly more difficult because we're gonna have to move some wires and work around that, whereas with the Draw-Tite, we're not gonna really have to fight anything, and it is just that slightly bit easier to get installed. Both the hitches are gonna give us a two inch by two inch receiver tube opening, and then both have reinforced collars. However, they're gonna be just slightly different looks to 'em, but the Draw-Tite is gonna have a rounded, more bubbled look, whereas the Curt is gonna have that clean flush cut on the end. more

This is what ur hitch is going to look like when it is installed. The cross tube's going to be hidden behind the bumper, so you're really only going to be able to see the receiving tube sticking out the end. This is a Class 3, two-inch-by-two-inch receiver, so it's going to be great for all your needs; from bike racks, cargo carriers, to towing, it will handle everything. It features hoop style safety chains loops, so it's going to have a nice large opening that will accommodate just about every size safety chain. It uses a 5/8 inch hitch pinning clip. Now, one doesn't come included with this hitch, but you can pick one up here at etrailer.com with part number PC3.This features a 600-pound tongue weight and that's the force going down on top of the receiver, and a 4000-pound gross towing capacity. more
