Hey everyone, Ryan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at some of our best trailer hitch options for your 2014 Ford Escape. We have three different trailer hitches here today. This one is the Draw-Tite, this one's made by etrailer, and this one here is made by CURT. And if you we inchesre to ask me what one I would choose, you really can't go wrong with any of 'em, to be honest, but I think one of the big things that will kinda help justify what one will be best for you is just the particular situation that you're gonna be in and how you plan on using the hitch. So for example, if you planned on doing quite a bit of towing trailers that are on the heavier side or using larger accessories like a big cargo carrier or something like that, I feel like the Draw-Tite might be a little bit better of a choice, you know, when it comes to that type of thing. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2014 For Escape, we are going to be taking a look at and show you how to install etailer.com Class III trailer hitch receiver, part number E98866. Speaker 2: This is what our hitch looks like when it's installed as you can see the cross tube is completely hidden behind the bumper fascia the only thing noticeable is the receiver tube. The edge of our receiver tube is going to sit nice and tucked in underneath the outer edge of our bumper fascia, so we're not going to have to worry about hitting our legs, or our shins on it when we are loading and unloading the vehicle. This is going to be a Class III hitch, it's going to be 2" by 2", hitch pin holes going to be 5/8" in diameter. It's going to have a rolled steel style safety chain loop, it's going to fit different sized safety chain hooks. Now as far as weight capacities go with this hitch, you're going to have a 350 pound max tongue weight, which is a down ward pressure on the inside of the receiver tube, you're going to have a 3500 pound max trailer weight, which is a trailer plus the load included. more

You can see the cross tube is hidden behind the bumper fascia. The only thing you're really going to see is the receiver tube. This is going to be a Class III. It's going to be a 2 inch by 2 inch.This hole here, is going to be your hitch pin hole. It's going to be 5/8ths inch in diameter. more

It's part number is 75758.Here's what our hitch is gonna look like installed. This is a Class Three hitch. We've got the two-inch by two-inch receiver tube opening. This is gonna be great for bike racks, cargo carriers, ball mounts. It can handle any of the towing needs that you might have.As you can see, the hitch is gonna have an exposed cross-tube so as you come across, you're gonna be able to see that round tube where it goes up and meets the frame plates. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Escape, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver to the Class 3 hitch, part number C13186. Here's what the hitch is going to look like once it's installed on the vehicle. As you can see, there isn't a whole lot visible other than this receiver tube because that cross tube is nicely tucked up behind the fascia here. If you're looking for something that is going to be primarily used for bike racks and cargo carriers but occasionally to pull a trailer, this is going to be a really good bet. Here we've got the standard 1/2-inch hitch pin hole that's going to be used to secure anything into our receiver tube, along with our surrounded steel safety chain loops that are just welded to the underside here. This hitch features a 350 lb. tongue weight rating along with a 3,500 lb. more

Today in this 2014 Ford Escape, were going to install part number C12084 from Curt. To get our car ready, we needed a lowering exhaust. Therell be two bolts on each side that go to the frame. This will connect the hanger brackets for the exhaust to the frame. Well go ahead and remove these exhaust bolts and allow the exhaust to hang down some. Well do this on both sides of the car. The next thing is a little easier. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Escape, we'll be installing the Draw-Tite Hitch, part number 36529. This is what our hitch would look like once installed. Next we'll go ahead and give you a couple measurements to assist you in selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of the bumper is 5 inches. From the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground is 13 1/2 inches. This will assist you in selecting accessories such as a ball mount, bike rack or cargo carrier. Now we'll go ahead with installation. now to being our install, we'll first need to lower our install, we'll first need to lower the exhaust. To lower the exhaust, we'll remove the fasteners and secure both rear hangers one on each side. Once we remove the 2 fasteners for each hanger, we'll go ahead and slowly load the exhaust. Here on the driver side, we'll also remove the fastener, it secures the heat shield to the frame. Now with exhaust down another way, we'll need to trim the heat shield to allow room for the hitch. more

Heres what the hitch looks like and installed on our vehicle. Now well go ahead and give you a couple of measurements in helping you choose some accessories for your hitch, such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack, or a cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer most edge of the bumper is approximately 4 inches. From the top of the opening in the receiver to the ground is approximately 13-1/2 inches. Now lets go ahead and install our hitch. To begin with, lets look at the access hole that allows to put our carriage bolts and spacer blocks into the frame. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Escape, we'll be installing the Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver in a Plastube with an inch and a quarter opening on the receiver, Part Number 36524. This is what the hitch looks like installed on our vehicle. Now, we'll go ahead and give you a couple measurements in helping you choose some accessories for your hitch such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack, or a cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of the bumper is approximately 4 inches. From the top of the opening and the receiver to the ground is approximately 13.5 inches. Now, let's go ahead and install our hitch. To begin with, let's look at the access hole that allows us to put our carriage bolts and spacer blocks into the frame. You can see, here, our spacer block fits in just fine, but our carriage bolt doesn't fit. more
