B and W Trailer Hitch Installation - 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Shane: Hi, I'm Shane with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at and I'm going to walk you through the installation on the B&W Class V trailer hitch receiver on our 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. This hitch is going to be great for hauling those heavier trailers. Again, this is going to be a Class V hitch, so it's going to have a higher tongue weight capacity and a higher trailer towing capacity. It's going to be great; maybe you're a construction worker, you need to get maybe a skid loader to a job site or maybe you're pulling a horse trailer. Again, this hitch is designed to handle all those heavier loads.A couple of things I want to point out that I really like about this hitch, and one of them is going to be the finish. more

Best 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Trailer Hitch

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the best trailer hitch options for your 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Up top here we're going to have the etrailer hitch, which is going to be a Class 4. Then right below that we're also going to have a CURT Class 4. Then down at the bottom we're going to have a Draw-Tite that's going to be a Class 3 hitch. Now if I was looking for a hitch for my Silverado, I would definitely go with the etrailer hitch purely because I like the finish on it and it is going to have that higher weight capacity. But let's take a closer look at some of the differences between all of them.Right off the bat, just looking at our hitches you can already see that our Draw-Tite is going to have a completely different design than our CURT or our etrailer hitches. Is going to have that round crosstube opposed to the square, and it is going to have a different attachment point. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, we're going to be taking a look at the Etrailer Class 4 Custom Fit Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number E98860.So here's what our hitch is going to look like once we have it installed on our Silverado. The main part of the cross tube is gong to be hidden right behind the bumper, and really all we're gong to see is that receiver tube sticking out. Now it's a Class 4, so it's going to give us that 2" by 2" receiver tube opening, which is going to open up a wide variety of options when it comes to anything we want to mount. All the way from ball mounts, bike racks, car repairs, just about anything's going to be in that 2" variety. The way we're gonna mount all of our accessories is through the hitch pin hole on the side, and it is going to accept a standard 5/8" pin and clip, although they're not included in the kit, you can pick it up here at Etrailer.com. As far as the safety chain connection points go, they're going to be a loop style, welded into the bottom of the receiver tube. And as you can see we're not going to have too much trouble getting most size hooks on or off. more

Speaker 1: Today in this 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, you'll be taking a look at, and being shown how to install the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver, Part Number C13175.This is what our hitch looks like installed. On the side of our hitch here, you'll find the industry standard 5/8" diameter hitch pin hole to secure any of your hitch mounted accessories. You can pick up the pin and clip on our website as part number PC3, which will enable you to secure your accessories.Welded on the bottom of our receiver, we have our rolled steel safety chain loops to allow us to hook up our safety chains from our trailer. These are fairly large openings, so we shouldn't have much problem at all hooking on those chains. On the back of our receiver, we have this nice collar that's welded on to help reinforce our receiver opening, and give us a nice finished look. Coupled with the collar and the fact that our hitch is tucked behind our bumper nicely, this gives us the appearance of a factory hitch. This Class III hitch features a 600 lbs max gross tongue weight rating, which is the amount forcing down, and a 6,000 lbs max gross trailer weight rating, which is the amount it can pull. more
