Trailer Hitch Installation - 2017 Mazda CX-5 - Draw-Tite

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Mazda CX5, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Draw Tite Class II Custom Fit Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 36601.Here's what our hitch looks like when it's fully installed. It is going to tuck up behind the bumper nicely, and all we're really going to see is that receiver tube sticking out. It is a class II hitch, which means it's going to give us that inch and 1/4 by inch and 1/4 receiver tube opening, and as you can see it has a nice reinforced collar giving it added strength, and just a nice finished look. All of your accessories are going to mount right here, and it's going to accept a standard 1/2 inch pin and clip. They're not included, but you can pick one up on our website using part number PC2. The safety chain connection points are going to be a loop style welded to the bottom, and as you can see, we're not going to have any trouble getting most sized hooks on and off because we do have that extra room, and they are just slightly offset from the pin hole, so we're not going to have to worry about any locking devices or a pin and clip interfering.Your hitch is going to have a 350 pound tongue weight, along with a 3,500 pound gross trailer weight rating. Now, you always want to double check your Mazda's owner's manual to make sure it can handle that amount of weight. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2016 Mazda CX-5

Today on our 2016 Mazda CX-5, we're going to take a look at, and show you how to install the Draw-Tite Custom Fit Class II Trailer Hitch Receiver. This offers the 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver tube opening. Its part number is 36601. Here's what your hitch is going to look like installed on your vehicle. As you can see, a very nice thing about it is that our cross-tube remains completely hidden, so the only thing we're really going to be adding to the rear of the vehicle is going to be the receiver tube area here, and our safety chain connection points. You see it snugs up nicely right underneath the fascia, and it doesn't require any trimming to get it in this orientation. Now this is a Class II hitch, that means its got the 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver tube opening, and it's going to be pretty versatile. This is something that with Class II accessories you can carry large cargo carriers, you can carry the bigger bike racks and things like that. more

These safety chain loops are where we can hook the safety chains from our trailer up onto. So you can see they're real thin and narrow there so we won't have any issues hooking up even the smallest of safety chains. We have our standard half inch hitch pin receiver hole right here. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2016 Mazda CX-5 - Draw-Tite 36602

Today on 2016 Mazda CX5, we will be installing the Draw-Tite Class 2 inch and quarter trailer hitch, part number 36602. With our hitch installed on our Mazda CX5, you can see how well tucked up it is behind the bumper. The only thing you can really see hanging down is the inch and a quarter receiver here and our safety chain loops here, which are very easy to hook safety chains onto because they are not very thick and recessed, so you can hook on even the smallest of safety chains really easily. This hitch has a 300 pound max tongue weight rating and a 3500 max gross trailer weight rating. Obviously you will want to consult the owner's manual of your CX5 to figure out which number is lower. If it is rated for a lower amount than what the hitch is rated for, obviously you will want to go by that number. You don't want to exceed the limitations of your vehicle. For a couple of measurements here to better assist you in choosing any hitch mounted accessories you may need. From the center of our 1/2 inch diameter hitch pin hole to the back of our bumper, we are looking at about 6 inches. more
