From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer most edge of this vehicle's spare tire is 7-1/2 inches. If you measure from the center of the hitch pin hole back to the bumper, it's 2 inches, to give you a point of reference. From the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground is 19 inches, with this vehicles wheel and tire applications. With those measurements, it will assist you in selecting accessories, such as a ball mount, bike rack or cargo carrier. We'll now go ahead with the installation. We'll use the 1/2 inch bolt and conical tooth washer. The teeth of the washer will face the hitch. more

Today on our 2012 Jeep Wrangler were going to be installing the Curt Trailer Hitch; part number 9883544. Heres what our hitch looks like installed on our vehicle. Well go ahead and give you a couple measurements in helping you choose some accessories for your hitch; such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack, or a cargo carrier. From the top of the opening in the receiver to the ground is approximately 20 inches. As you can see here the edge of our receiver is pretty well even with the edge of the bumper. Now from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of the spare tire is approximately 10 inches. Now lets go ahead and install our hitch. Today on this 2008 Jeep Wrangler, were going to install part number 9883544 from Curt. Were going to start off with the exhaust, and were going have to lower that out of the way just to give us a little more working room to slide the bolts in, and thats it. Well spray down the rubber hangers with some lubricant, and then pry them off. Now we can go ahead and show where the hitch will mount up to the vehicle, its going to mount on the last cross member 00:28 right here. It basically doubles the bumpers structure itself. Theres four holes on the back side of this structure that well run bolts through. The hitch will wrap around the bumper structure. more

Today on this 1999 Jeep Wrangler we are going to install part number 13408 from Curt. The first thing we need to do is remove this bolt at the bottom of the frame, there will be one on each side of the vehicle. We are looking at the driver side right now. The next thing I want to show you is some of the hardware that comes with the hitch, you are going to get two hex bolts like this. One is going to be an SAE thread and the other one is going to be Metric. To determine which one you need, you get the old bolt that came out of the vehicle and match them up. If the threads mesh together then you have the right ones. So in this case we will be using the Metric bolt. 00:37 more

Today on this 2004 Jeep Wrangler we will be installing Curt hitch part number 13408. We are underneath the Wrangler here and we are going to go ahead and point out the mounting location for the trailer hitch. Looking here at the driver side frame rail, this particular model has a factory installed tow hook. Some models have it, some models do not. If you do, you have to go ahead and have that removed. Take it off by removing the two bolts here. And we just need to remove the handle nut from inside the frame there. The mounting holes for both sides of the vehicle are going to be the weld nut here that is at the end of the frame and the larger, oblong hole here just forward of the weld nut. more
