Hollywood Racks Expedition Trunk Bike Rack Review- Video
Today we're gong to be taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Truck Mounted Expedition 2 bike rack, part #HRF6-2. This bike rack is perfect for hauling 2 bikes if you don't want to install a hitch or a roof rack. The one thing that sets this truck mounted bike rack apart from the rest is it's ability to fold down. This will be ideal for close quarter parking such as inside the garage. Also it's 3 piece design allows it to accommodate spoilers on most vehicles. The all in one piece anti-sway cradle attaches to your bike down tube and it helps to prevent bike to bike contact or bike to vehicle contact. All the cradles are constructed of a soft rubber so it won't scratch or harm the finish of your bike. more

Today on our 2015 Chrysler 200, we're going to be test fitting the Saris Bones 3 bike rack, part number SA801. As you can see we already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. How the bike is actually attached to the rack, you're going to have three points of contact to your bike's frame. You're going to have these two straps up top here, and this one off to the side down here. This is going to act as kind of a anti-sway strap to keep it from going back and forth possibly hitting the bikes in front of it. Let's go ahead and take that off. To loosen these up, you just push these buttons up top here. And just work the strap out. more

Saris Bones Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek- Video
Today on your 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek, we're going to be test-fitting the Saris Bones three bike carrier; part number SA801. Now, we already have a bike on the rack; let's go ahead and take a closer look at it and look at some of the features. The way the bike attaches to the rack, it has three points of contact to the bike's frame: you have these two straps up here as well as this one here which acts as an anti-sway strap to keep it from going back and forth, hitting the bike rack, or possible the bikes in front of it. Let's go ahead and take that off. You just push these buttons in here, they come off. Now it's always good that once you remove the straps you put them back into place, just so they're not flapping around while you're driving and so you don't lose them; but for these, it's also to keep all of the dirt and grime out of them. The next thing I'm going to do is to give you a measurement to give you an idea of how much is added to the back of the vehicle once the bike rack is installed. I'll be measuring from the hatch. That's going to be about 20 inches. With this rack, the arms also do fold down; and to do that, you have these knobs up at the top here that you want to loosen up. more

Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. Now as you can see, there's going to be 3 points of contact to your bike's frame here. You're going to have 2 straps up top plus a strap off to the side here which is going to be your anti sway strap to keep it from going back and forth, possibly hitting the bike rack itself of the bike in front of it. Let's go ahead and remove the straps and take the bike off. Now when removing the straps, it's always a good habit to get into to actually put them back in place once you're done, primarily so they're not flapping around while you're driving and you don't lose them while you're driving. more

Our first one's going to be our overall that we add to our vehicle with our arms hanging out, and we're adding about 22 inches to our vehicles. Now, if we wanted to park in a place with close quarters parking, we could come up to our two gray levers here. more

With our bike out of the way, I always suggest that you replace your straps, so you don't lose or damage any of them. Once again, they may be a little difficult to replace since the bike rack is new. As you work with it a little more, it will get easier. Now, let's take a few measurements. Our first one is going to be our overall distance added to the back of our vehicle with our arms hanging out. more

For security, there's also an integrated cable lock that you would pull over the bikes and insert right here and lock, so your bikes would be nice and secure while you drive. Let's go and take the bike off. Go ahead and set it up to the side out of the way. Now, with the straps, once you take them off you want to reinstall them because you don't want them flapping around while you're driving, you don't want to lose them while you're driving. more

Next I'm going to give you some measurements to give you an idea of how much has been added to the car after the bike rack is installed. I'm going to be measuring from the hatch here - out, from here it looks about 21 1/2 inches. Now these arms do fold down for close quarter situations such as parking. more

You have 2 straps up here, and 1 anti-sway strap down here, which keeps the bike from gong back and forth and possibly bumping into the bike you have in front of it, or even into the car if it we're close enough. more

Today in our 2012 Chevrolet Traverse, we're going to be test fitting the Hollywood Rack's over the top 2 bike rack, part number HRF2. As you can see, we already have a bike installed on our rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look at some of the features. Here we have 3 points of contact to the bike's frame. We have the 2 straps on top, plus an anti-sway strap on the side here, which keeps it moving back and forth, possibly hitting the vehicle or the bike in front of it. Let's go ahead and take it off. Now it's always good practice to reinstall your straps after you've taken them off, just so their not flapping around while you drive, and so you don't lose them while you drive. Now I'd like to give you a measurement to give you the distance from the back of of the hatch, how much is added to it. more

Then we take off our anti-sway strap. Then we can remove our bike, and if you we're loading your bike, you just do it opposite way. more
