Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2019 Toyota Tacoma BA22B- Video
John: Hey guys, John here from etrailer.com and today on our 2019 Toyota Tacoma we're going to be test fitting the Kuat NV 2.0 base bike rack. This is designed for two inch by two inch trailer hitch receivers and it can carry up to two bikes weighing 60 pounds each. This is a great way to transport your bikes to your favorite destination while freeing up the space here in your bed. One thing that I always think when I see a pickup with a bike rack is why don't you just toss them in the bed, but if you're carrying maybe a cooler or some other cargo or perhaps you have a nice bike that you don't want to make frame contact with, this is a great solution for that.As you can see, it has a ratcheting arm and a ratcheting strap, so there's no frame contact at all, to get your bikes, maybe with a sensitive frame or a nice paint job to your destination safely. Few specs on this bike rack, the trace here can accommodate up to 4.8 inch wide tires and a max wheel base of 48 inches, the wheel base is from the center of one axle to the center of the other. As far as wheel diameter goes, 25 inch to 29 inches, but we do have an adapter here at etrailer.com that can accommodate 20 to 24 inch wheel diameters if you have a smaller wheel.One of the highlights of this bike rack I really like, is the integrated cable lock. more

This is designed for one and a quarter inch and two inch trailer hitch receivers, and it can hold up to two bikes weighing 37 and a half pounds each. The cradles here can accommodate wheel widths of up to five inches, or tire widths, excuse me, of up to five inches. And it can accommodate up to 50 inch wheel bases. It's going to hold our bikes with three points of contact. We've got two straps for our top tube here, then we've got one for our seat post tube. This one for our seat post tube is going to help cut down on some of that sway during transport. So you can carry it on the back of your motor home and it's not going to suffer from damage from vibration that happens at the rear of RVs during transport.Now, with that being said, it's also one of the only ones out there that's approved that can be tilted away. You do have to do that without the bikes loaded, but having it tilt away is going to gain us access to other accessories that might be mounted to our motor home's bumper, our spare tire, even our ladder to access our roof. Today, on our 2014 Toyota Tacoma, we're gonna be doing a test fit on the Thule Apex XT hanging style two bike rack.As you can see, I've already got it installed here just to give you a good idea what it looks like and how it's gonna work with our Tacoma.Now, right away what's unique about this bike rack is that it is also motor home approved, so if you have a motor home, it's gonna be nice and solid, excuse me, and it's gonna be great for carrying two bikes on the back of your motor home.Now, with that being said, it's also one of the only bike racks out there that tilts away that is motor home approved, so for our motor home, we can tilt it away to gain access to our ladder, our spare tire or any other accessories we may have mounted to our bumper. When it's mounted to our Tacoma, we can tilt it away to access our tailgate area.But, to tilt it away, you need to have the bike removed, so just keep that in mind and I'll show you how that works here in a little bit.But, the way it holds our bikes is with three points of contact. We've got two straps that come over our top tube and the one that goes around our seat post tube. Now, the one that goes around our seat post tube is gonna help prevent some of that sway during transport, prevent bike to bike contact, bike to bike rack contact and bike to vehicle contact.Also, another bike, excuse me, another interesting thing that this bike rack has is a cable lock built into the mast. That way we can leave our bikes unattended and not have to worry about them being stolen.Let's go ahead and take our bike off though. To do so, we'll push on the little tab and guide that strap out.We'll set that aside. more

Speaker 1: Today, on our 2016 Toyota Tacoma, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Kuat Transfer 1 Bike Platform Rack, part number TS01B. With a bike installed, let's take a closer look and show off some of the features.To start, like most platform racks, this can tilt away from your vehicle. We're just going to come to this foot pedal right here and push down, and we can tilt it away like so. Now, I will point out that when we come to open up our tailgate, we do come in contact with our bike as we get farther down, as you can see, just like that. So you can't open up your tailgate all the way if you have a bike installed, however, you can open it up enough to go to reach under it and open up your tonneau cover, and then you can get whatever you need out of your truck.To tilt it back up, we're just going to grab a hold of the bike rack and tilt it up, til it latches just like that. We have two different points where our bike is secured. more

Today in our 2016 Toyota Tacoma, we're test fitting the Kuat Transfer, the Transfer is a three bike platform style rack. They designed this to be used with 1 1/4 or with 2-inch hitches. The part number on this is TS03G. A really nice feature on the rack is going to be the tilt away. Just a standard lever there will push it, and allow this rack to tilt out and away from the vehicle. Now it looks pretty tight here, it doesn't look as if we're going to get full . No, we're going to come to about here before we start running into interference issues, and I don't think that a different type of bike is going to make much of difference here. If you need access fully into the back of this truck it's not a good option. more

Today on our 2016 Toyota Tacoma, we've got out the Thule Vertex Swing and we're testing it. The Vertex Swing is a swing-away style folding 4 bike rack. It's been designed for use in 2 inch hitches. Part number on it is TH9031XT. Now of course, the big feature about this rack, it's got a lot of great features, but that biggest one is going to be the swing-away. Today on our 2016 Toyota Tacoma, we're test fitting the Swagman Dispatch. The Dispatch is a 2 bike platform style rack. It's been designed for use in 2-inch hitches. Part number on this is S64684. You'll see here that the dispatch is going to hold our bike in place using 2 wheel cradles with straps, and also a frame hook. Now the wheel cradles with straps themselves. Easy to operate, you just press down the cam, pull the strap. more

Today on our 2016 Toyota Tacoma, we're test-fitting the Kuat Envy. This is a platform-style, 4 bike rack. It's been designed for use in two inch hitches. Part number on it is N105-107. This rack is a really nice, lightweight, aluminum rack, as far as the 4 bike racks go. It's heavy, but not as heavy as those steel racks. A great feature of it, it's going to hold our bike and all of our bikes in position, without ever making contact with the frame. more

Curt Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Toyota Tacoma- Video
Today on our 2016 Toyota Tacoma, we got out the Curt Folding and Tilting Premium 4-bike rack, and we're test fitting it. Now this bike rack's been designed for use with 2" hitches. Part number on it is C18064. One of the big features I really like about the rack is going to be the cradle arms. We're got a wider set here in the front for the first 2, and then our arms narrow down here at the rear. You can imagine that's going to help us out a lot when it comes to kids' bikes, or maybe hybrid-style bikes and getting them on the rack. For holding our bikes, we've got two cradles, one in the front, one in the rear. more

Today on our 2016 Toyota Tacoma, we've got out the Thule Roadway and we're doing a test fit on it. Now the Roadway's a 2 bike hanging style rack, tilts down when it's not in use and it'll fold away from the vehicle, couple of really nice features. Part number on it is TH912XTR. We can use this with 2-inch hitches and it's going to hold our bike in place using 3 straps. You're going to have 2 for the frames up here or 2 for the top of the frame and then 1 for the seat down tube. You can see that it does a really good job at keeping the rack from moving forward and back or keeping the bike from moving forward and back. more

Today on our 2016 Toyota Tacoma, we got out this Swagman Trailhead and we're going to test fit it. The Trailhead's a folding and tilting four-bike-style hanging rack. This has been designed so you can use it with inch and a 1/4 or with two inch hitches. The part number on it is S63380. The Trailhead uses four straps. We've got two on our front cradle, here on the frame, one a little bit further back on the frame, and then also back here on our anti-sway cradle. That does a good job of preventing or limiting the movement, forward and back. more

Today, in our 2015 Toyota Tacoma, we're doing a test fit of the Swagman Trailhead 4 Bike Rack, part # S63380. I have a bike on a rack and we have a rack onto our vehicle. I'd like to show you a few features. The first feature I'd like to show you is how our bike is connected to our bike rack. We have a total of 4 straps. We have 3 up top, and the 1 on the side, we call our anti-sway strap, that's going to keep the bike from swaying to damage your other bikes, or your vehicle itself. So we're going to take these 2 off, the 3 up top first, then we take of our anti-sway strap and we remove our bike. more

Today on our 2015 Toyota Tacoma we're doing a test fit of the the Saris Thelma 3 bike rack platform style, part number is SA4239B. We have a bike on our rack, we have a rack hooked to our vehicle. I'd just like to show you a few features of it. How our bike is connected to our bike rack itself, we have our wheel mounts. Here our front cradle has a strap there, so we're going to go ahead and release this, take that out and set that to the side. Then we are going to go to the back, same thing, and I'm always holding on to my bike so it doesn't fall on your vehicle. Now we're going to take our bike off, set it off to the side. more

Saris Bike Porter Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2006 Toyota Tacoma- Video
Today on our 2006 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab we will be test fitting the Saris Pike Porter tilting 4-bike rack. That's part number SA404B. This is used for 1-1/4" or 2" hitches. We can go ahead and start by loading our shank into our receiver. Go ahead and line our pinholes up. Once we get those lined up we'll go ahead and take our anti-rattle bolt. more
