etrailer Class III Trailer Hitch Installation - 2018 Ford Taurus

Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we have a 2018 Ford Taurus and we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the etrailer class III two inch hitch receiver. Adding a hitch receiver to the back of your Ford Taurus is gonna give you a couple different options to haul accessories. You can use it for a bike rack, which is the most common use for it. You can use it for a cargo carrier, although the hitch receiver is kind of low to be able to use it with a cargo carrier, you might be able to get away with a high low adapter to get it up there a little bit higher. Then the lastly, you can use it to tow lighter trailers. more

Curt Trailer Hitch Installation - 2018 Ford Taurus

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today on our 2018 Ford Taurus, we will be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt class three, two inch trailer hitch receiver. Now, what I really like about this hitch is that for the most part, it's going to be completely hidden and that's going to help maintain that factory appearance. Also, really liked the fact that it has more of a gloss finish, as opposed to some of the other ones on the market that have a more flat or matte black finish. I just think overall, it matches our car nicely. Our hitch is going to allow us to use it for accessories, things like bike racks or cargo carriers and it's even going to allow us to use it for some light-duty towing. more

Ryan: Hey everybody, Ryan here @etrailer.com. Today on our 2018 Ford Taurus, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt class two inch and a quarter trailer hitch receiver. One of my favorite things about this hitch is the way it looks for the most part, it's going to be completely hidden and that's going to help maintain your factory appearance. It's also going to have a gloss black finish, which in my opinion, looks really good with our Taurus. This is going to work great for you, especially if you already have inch and a quarter accessories, that's the one downside to the inch and a quarter size is that there aren't as many options available on the market. As far as hitch-mounted accessories go. more

Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Installation - 2018 Ford Taurus

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer.com today on our 2018 Ford Taurus, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Draw-Tite class two-inch and a quarter trailer hitch receiver. Now right off the bat, one of the first things I want to point out is that although the hitch is mostly hidden, this one is probably going to be the most visible out of the hitches that are available now. Now this is a class-two hitch, so it's going to have the inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter receiver tube opening. That's also going to have a half inch size pin hole which, keep in mind, it does not come included with the pin and clip. But if you need one, you can pick one up here at etrailer.com. It does have loop style, safety chain openings, which are quite open and large. So you shouldn't have any problem using just about any size hook that you might have without interfering with your pin and clip. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Ford Taurus, we're gonna be taking a look at showing how to install the Curt Class 2 custom-fit trailer hitch receiver, part number C12296. So here's what our hitch looks like when we have it installed. It is gonna sit just right below the bumper, and that cross tube is gonna be hidden nicely behind the bumper so all we're gonna see is that receiver tube sticking out. It is a Class 2 hitch, which means it's gonna give us that inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter receiver tube opening, and as you can see it has a nice reinforced collar giving it added strength and just an overall finished look. Now since it is a Class 2 hitch, we're gonna be mounting all of our accessories here and they do include a standard half inch pin and clip, which is always a bonus. As far as the safety chain connection points go, it's gonna be a loop style and they're gonna be inaudible 00:00:50 to the bottom of our receiver tube. And as you can see, we're not gonna have too much trouble getting most size hooks on or off, so I want to keep in mind that they are directly in line with that pin hole so if you are using a locking device, just want to make sure that it's not gonna interfere with the hooks. As far as weight capacity is concerned, our hitch is gonna feature a 300 pound tongue weight, along with a 3,500 pound gross trailer weight rating. more

It's got the rolled steel safety chain loops here underneath that are going to make it nice and easy for connecting just about any type of safety chain that you may have. This hitch tucks up very nicely to the underside of the fascia, so all that you're going to see is the receiver tube opening and safety chain connection points. The crosstube is going to be up behind the fascia so that it's nice and hidden. This hitch is going to work great for any inch-and-a-quarter accessories that you may have. more

Today on this 2010 Ford Taurus we will be installing Hidden Hitch part number 87565 and this installation will also apply for Draw-Tite part number 75670. The first thing we want to do in preparation to installing our trailer hitch is to lower the exhaust down off the driver side frame rail. We have got two hangers that we want to remove to help lower the exhaust out of the way. The first one being at the rear of the vehicle nearest the bumper and then if we follow forward almost even with the axle there is a second one. To ease in the removal of these rubber hangers we are going to spray the studs down with a spray lubricant like a WD-40. Then we can take either a pry bar or a set of pliers and separate the two pieces. 00:40 more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2002 Ford Taurus

Today we are going to be installing trailer hitch 36313 from Draw-Tite, and this also includes hitch number 90309 from Hidden Hitch, on a 2002 Ford Taurus. We are underneath the vehicle now, and we are looking at the passengers side frame rail. We are going to go ahead and point out the mounting locations for the trailer hitch. You can see first on some models there will be a carbon canister mounted here on the passengers side frame rail, and the instructions do stipulate what you need to do in that instance. This particular vehicle does not have that canister, so we can go ahead and omit that section of the instructions. We are going to go ahead and use the inboard vertical bolt, here, as one of the attaching points, so we will need to go ahead and remove that bolt. On models with the tow hooks, we are going to need to remove those as well. There is one bolt holding those in there should be one on each side of the vehicle if the vehicle does have the tow hooks. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 1999 Ford Taurus Wagon

Today we are going to be filming hitch part number 36252 on a 1999 Ford Taurus wagon. Looking under the vehicle here we are going to point out the attaching points for this hitch. We are going to remove this bolt on both sides of the frame. It will become the upright fastener for the hitch. We are going to be using the existing hole that is just a little bit forward from this slot here on the side of the frame. So the first thing you will do is remove the bolt from both sides of the frame. You can see on this model they have tow hooks which not very many models have but this particular one does have them, so they need to come off as well. With the bolts now out of the energy absorbers, we want to go ahead and lower the exhaust. There are 2 hangers that are holding it on. There is one here to the rear side near the bumper and then there is one more towards the forward side, towards the front of the exhaust here. more
