Now, these brake controllers have been chosen for a few different reasons. Ease of use is the most important. We really like one that's not too hard to use, but also our experience with them here in the shop, we have our favorites, and then also our customers. We like to look at all of your guys' feedback and see which one's working the best for you, which one you like the most, and then present them to you so you know which one's going to be the right one for your situation.Now, all of the brake controllers that we're going to look at today are proportional controllers. Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado- Video
Today on our 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 we're going to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, part number 90885. Here's what our brake controller looks like once it's mounted. On the driver's side of the brake controller is a thumb wheel for adjusting the gain control. This will allow us to adjust our gain down or up as needed. Then, here on the passenger side of our brake controller, is our boost function, allow us to go to Boost 1, 2 or 3 as needed for more aggressive braking, depending on our trailer's size and load. Here at the bottom of our brake controller is the manual sweep. This will allow you to apply the trailer brakes without pressing on the vehicle's brake pedal. Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 39510- Video
Today on our 2008 Chevrolet Silverado, we'll be installing the Tekonsha Voyager trailer brake controller, part number 39510. The first step to installing our trailer brake controller is to find the factory wiring for our controller install. The wire will be marked with a tag to show you how to hook up the brake controller. For this install, we'll be using the plug and play harness for the installation, part number 75127. We'll wire this in according to our instructions and to the factory wiring. Your wires should be labeled to match up to the factory wires. We'll start with our ground wire, which is the white wire and we'll reference the factory wiring harness tag, which also says the white wire is the ground on this. Strip that wire back. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 90195- Video
All right, today on this 2008 Chevrolet Silverado were going to install part number 90195 from Tekonsha. This is the P3 brake controller. First off well go ahead and look for the existing towing harness thats underneath the dash. Most of the time its hanging down a little bit from the regular wires, so its pretty easy to find. Well go ahead and point it out to you and then pull it gently down to get the wires away from the rest of the harness, and then well go ahead and install the wire harness from the brake controller. Well go ahead and strip our wires back and then add our butt connectors. more
