Today on our 2014 Dodge Journey we're going to do a test fit on the Detail K2 20 by 60 folding cargo carrier. They've designed this for use in 2" hitches and it offers a 500 pound weight capacity. The part number on it is K2HCC602. To begin our test fit we'll slide the shank right into the receiver tube of our hitch. We'll slide it in far enough so we line up our pinhole with our hitch pinhole. We'll then take our standard 5/8 pin. We'll slide that through and then secure it on the other side with our clip. more

It's part number is MT70107. Now to begin our test fit, we are going to slide the shank of the carrier right into the receiver tube of our hitch. We'll slide it in far enough that the hole in the shank of the carrier is going to line up to the hole in the hitch. With those lined up we'll take a standard 5/8 pin, slide that through, and we'll secure it here on the other side using the clip. The closest point of the carrier to the back of our vehicle is going to be right here that's about 3 1/2 inches away. more

As we slide it in we'll want to look through the pinhole here to determine when we have that in line with the hole in our rack. We can then take a standard 5/8 pin; we'll slide that through, secure it on the other side using the clip. Now in this position the cargo carrier is going to offer us about 9-3/4" worth of ground clearance. more

MaxxTow Wheelchair Carrier with Ramp Review - 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan

Today on our 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan, we'll be test fitting the Maxxtow 30 x 50 wheelchair carrier, part number MT70260. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, we'll secure it with a pin and clip and then using a wrench tighten down the two silver bolts to engage the anti-rattle device. With the carrier secured, we'll go over a couple of clearance measurement to see how the two fit together. We have about nine and one-half inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle is about a quarter of an inch and we have added about nine inches to the overall length of our vehicle. When using the anti-rattle device, the top portion of the silver bracket does come in contact with the bottom of the rear bumper fascia. We'll now go ahead and lower the platform. We'll do this by pulling the silver pin at the base of the bike rack and tilting the platform down. more

We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch. We'll insert our pin and secure the clip on the other side. With the carrier secured, we'll go over a couple clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 12 inches of ground clearance at the rear of the carrier. The closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle is about a quarter of an inch away. We've added about 26 inches to the overall length of our Grand Caravan. Now, in this particular model, the exhaust does exit on the passenger's side and is tilted downward, about six inches away. more

You can see that this cargo carrier cannot work in the fold-up position, so we'll simply pull the black pin at the base of the carrier and tilt the platform down. We'll then continue sliding the shank into the receiver tube and securing it with the anti-rattle bolt. With the carrier secured, we'll go over some clearance measurements to see how the 2 fit together. We have about 17-3/4 inches of ground clearance at the rear of the carrier. The closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle is about a quarter of an inch away, and we've added about 29 inches to the overall length of our Grand Caravan. more

We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch. We'll thread in the anti-rattle bolt, and tighten it down using a wrench. With the carrier secured, we'll go over some clearance measurements. With the platform folded up, we have about 11-1/2" of ground clearance. The closest part of the carrier, to the closest part of the vehicle is about 2", and we've added about 10" to the overall length of our Dodge. We can now pull-up on the orange handle and tilt the platform down. With the carrier in this position, we have about 17" of ground clearance at the rear. more

Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle is about 4 inches away and we've added about 36 1/2 inches to the overall length of our Grand Caravan. Now the exhaust on this model does exit on the passenger side and faces downward about 17 1/2 inches away. more

We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch. We'll thread in our anti-rattle bolt and then tighten it down using a wrench. With the carrier secured, we'll go over a couple clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about twelve inches of ground clearance at the rear of the carrier. The closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle is about three-quarters of an inch away, and we've added about twenty and a quarter inches to the overall length of our Grand Caravan. Now on this model, the exhaust does exit on the passenger side and points downward about seven inches away. Therefore, it would be alright to carry heat sensitive materials on this cargo carrier. The cargo door does break over the surface of the carrier at about fourteen inches. That will complete today's test fit for the Curt cargo carrier, part number C18145, on our 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan. . more

From the closest point of the cargo carrier platform to the back of the vehicle measures 2-1/4 inches. The cargo carrier will add an additional 34-1/2 inches of overall length to the vehicle. more

Weve got about 13 inches of ground clearance at the rear of the carrier. Weve got about five inches of clearance between the closest part of the carrier and the closest part of the vehicle. more

Now to begin our test fit, we'll slide the cargo carrier shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole, and install our hitch pin. We can then put the clip on the other side of the pin which will secure our cargo carrier to the vehicle. We can now go ahead and give you a few measurements. From the closest point of our cargo carrier to the back of the vehicle is 4 inches and the cargo carrier itself will add an additional 29-1/2 inches of overall length to the vehicle. Our ground clearance here at the back of the carrier is 12-1/2 inches and the exhaust on this vehicle does exit the passenger's side here at the rear bumper. more

Now to begin our test fit using the included adapter for the two inch hitch well slide our cargo carrier shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole, and install and tighten down the 00:00:19 bolt. With the bolt tight our cargo carriers secured to the vehicle. Well now go ahead and give you a few measurements. From the closest point of the cargo carrier to the back of the vehicle is two and a half inches, and this cargo carrier will add an additional 22 inches to the overall length of the vehicle itself. Our ground clearance here at the back of the cargo carrier is 12.5 inches. more
