EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Installation - 2017 Volkswagen Golf- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Volkswagen Golf, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how install the EcoHitch Class 3 Custom Fit Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 306-X7309. The unique thing about this one is that it's going to be the only class 3 hitch available for our Golf. It's going to give us that 2" x 2" receiver tube opening, opening up a lot more options when it comes to accessories. Another nice thing about our hitch is the fact that the cross tube is going to be completely hidden behind the bumper, and all we're going to see is the receiver tube right below.Now, the way we're going to mount any of our accessories is to through hitch pin hole here on the side, and it is going to accept a standard 5/8" pin and clip. Now, these are not included in the kit, but you can pick them up here at etrailer.com. As far as the safety chain connection points go, they're going to be a plate style welded to the bottom. more

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the best hitch options for your 2015 Volkswagen Golf. Up top here we're going to have the Class 3 Ecohitch. Below that we're going to have the Class 2 CURT hitch. Then finally down here on the bottom we're going to have the Class 2 Draw-Tite.Now one of the biggest differences that we found is in regards to versatility. Our EcoHitch here is a Class 3, which means it's going to give us that 2" by 2" receiver tube opening, which has a lot of different options for accessories that we can mount up, all the way from a ball mount, a bike rack, or a cargo carrier. While with the other two, they're going to have an 1-1/4" by 1-1/4" receiver tube opening, so we are going to be limited on some of those options.In regards to appearance, our EcoHitch and our Draw-Tite are going to be the best looking hitches. more

Speaker 1: Today in our 2014 Volkswagen Passat, we're gonna be installing Draw-tite's Class 1, one and a quarter inch receiver part number 24880.And this is what our hitch is gonna look like when it's installed. The cross tube is gonna be hidden completely behind the bumper, so you're only gonna be able to see the receiver right here at the back. It's a Class 1 one and a quarter by one and a quarter inch receiver, so it's gonna be great for carrying bike racks, cargo carriers, and very light towing. It uses a half inch hitch fitting clip. One doesn't come with hitch, but you can pick one up at etrailer.com with part number PC2, and it features hoop style safety chain loops. The nice large opening on these will accommodate just about every size and style of safety chain. more

As you can see, without a rear fascia installed, this hitch is completely hidden behind the fascia and it attaches very simply behind our bumper beam, utilizing existing weld nuts in the frame and existing holes. So there's no drilling required.So if you want to put a hitch on your Golf, your Golf GTI and still have the sporty appearance, but yet not have a very visible hitch, this is a great option for you. On the side of our receiver, you'll find our industry standard half inch diameter hitch pin hole to secure any of your hitch mounted accessories. On the bottom here is our plate style safety chain loops. And what's great about these, that even though this is a inch and a quarter hitch with small loops on it, we can still easily clip on and remove a large diameter safety chain hook such as this one. more
