Best 2004 Ford F-150 Suspension Enhancement Options

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the best suspension enhancements for your 2004 Ford F-150, F-250, and F-350. Here we're going to have a leaf spring style helper spring, followed by our air bag helper springs, and then over here we're going to have a jounce style helper spring, and this is going to be our lower overload helper spring, then finally on the end, this is going to be our upper overload helper springs. Now each one of our types of suspension enhancements are going to do the same thing. When we're carrying a heavy load, or hauling a trailer, they're going to prevent the back end of our truck from sagging, causing more strain on our suspension, as well as lifting up the front end, creating less contact for our tires and not a safe driving condition. They're all going to help prevent all of those things from happening, so let's take a closer look at some of the benefits from each one.Now our helper leaf springs here are not only going to give us that load leveling support, but they're also going to give us a little bit of anti-sway because the way they're going to mount. Our leaf spring style helper springs are going to mount to our factory leaf springs; they're going to activate our lower overload springs to help evenly distribute weight, ensuring the truck stays level for better handling, and it's going to reduce side to side sway and body roll. With our leaf spring helper springs, there is a little bit of customization. There's not as much adjustment after they're installed, because once they're installed, they're going to be set, and they're maintenance free. more

Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System Installation - 2004 Ford F-150- Video

Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System Installation - 2004 Ford F-150

Today on our 2004 Ford F150, we'll be installing the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System, part #TRF150D. To begin our install, we'll first need to remove the old manufacturer's bump stops. To do that, there is a bolt that goes up through the center of the bump stop, then remove the bump stop and bolt. We'll go ahead and set those aside as they will not be reused. There are 2 options when installing the suspension enhancement system. For maximum capacity at all times, you'll use the ion spring, spacer spring, and top plate. With this setup you'll also be using the longer of the 2 bolts provided with the install kit. For our application, however, we're going to go with the lesser capacity which means we'll remove the center spacer and use the shorter, full threaded bolt. To assemble it, we'll take the bolt, go through the washer on the inside of the ion spring, then through the top of the spring, then we'll go through the top plate, holding it in place. Now we're ready to install it on the vehicle on the manufacturer's clip nut that is secured to the frame. more
