Hi there, Kia owners. Today on your 2016 Kia Sorento, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Tekonsha's Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller. And this is what our brake controller looks like when it's installed. It's mounted underneath our dash here, which is plenty fine because this can be mounted in a positive, all the way to negative 90 degree angle. So that's a whole 180 degrees of rotation. Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2016 Kia Sorento- Video

Today on our 2016 Kia Sorento, we're going to be taking a look at installing the Hopkins InSIGHT Flex-Mount trailer brake controller, part #HM47297 and we're going to use it in conjunction with the universal installation kit for trailer brake controllers, part #ETBC7. So here's what our brake controller looks like fully installed. It's going to be a three piece system compiled of our display here, our flex control box right here and finally the Smart-Box, which I have mounted under our dash. Now how this is going to be different from most traditional brake controllers is this is going to be a three piece system, so it's going to be very versatile and you're going to be able to mount these almost wherever you want. Now this is a proportional brake controller. What that means is, it's going to activate our trailer brakes based on how hard we're activating our brakes in our vehicle and since it's not a timed delay, there's not going to be any pause or delays. It's going to take the adjustment and send it to our trailer based on how fast or how slow we're coming to a stop. more
