Today on our 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe we're going to be test fitting the 24" x 60" Surco Cargo Carrier for 2" hitches. With a 500 pound weight capacity, it's part number is 52018. To begin our test fit we'll slide the shank of the carrier into the receiver tube of the hitch, line up our pin holes, slide through our pin and secure it with a clip. In this position our carrier is going to offer us about 22" of ground clearance. The closest point of the carrier to the back of our vehicle is about 3-1/4" away. Overall we've added about 29" to the total length of our Tahoe. When opening the rear hatch it breaks over the plane of our carrier at about the 10" mark. The exhaust on the Tahoe exists the passenger side and it's turned downward. more

To begin our test fit we'll slide the shank of the carrier into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pin holes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it down with a wrench. We'll then secure it using the provided clip. In this position our carrier offers us about 25.25 inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the carrier to the back of our vehicle is about 3.5 inches away. Overall we've added about 12.75 inches to the length of our Tahoe. Pulling the large red handle on the top of the carrier will allow us to tilt it away from our vehicle into its platform or loading position. more

We'll then secure it using the provided clip. In this position we have about 22-1/4" worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the carrier to the back of our vehicle is about 3-1/2" away and overall we've added about 22-3/4" to the length of the Tahoe. When opening our rear hatch it does break over the plain of our carrier at about the 10-1/2" mark. The exhaust on our Tahoe exits the passenger side and it's turned downward. more

In this position, our carrier offers about 22-1/4 inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the carrier to the back of our Suburban is about 3-1/4 inches away and overall we've added about 9-1/4 inches to the length of our vehicle. Pulling the black pin and clip at the base of the carrier will allow us to tilt it away from our vehicle into its loading position. We'll reinsert the pin to hold it in position and go over a few more measurements. Looks like we'll have about 27-1/4 inches of ground clearance here at the back of the rack. more

Pulling the silver pin and clip at the base of the carrier will allow us to tilt it away from our vehicle into its loading position. We'll reinsert the pin to hold it here and take a couple more measurements. Here at the rear of the rack we're going to have about 27-1/4" worth of ground clearance, and overall we've added about 35-1/4" to the length of our car. more

Our ground clearance is about 20 inches. The closest point of the carrier to the back of our vehicle is about 5-1/2 inches, and overall, we have added about 12 inches to the Suburban. By pulling the pin at the base of the carrier, we can tilt it into the loading position. We will want to re-secure it by reinserting the pin. To begin our test fit, we will slide the shank of the carrier into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pin holes, and secure it with a pin and clip. Now, let's go over a couple of measurements. Here at the rear of the carrier, we have about 20 inches of ground clearance. The closest point of the carrier to the back of the back of the Suburban is about 5-3/4 inches, and overall, we have added about 12 inches to the car. Pulling the pin at the base of the carrier allows it to tilt into the loading position. We will reinsert the pin and secure it with the clip. In this position, we'll take a few more measurements. more

In this position, we have a ground clearance now at the rear of the carrier of 21 inches and we've added 38 inches to the overall length of our vehicle.
