With those in line, we've got an anti-rattle bolt which is provided. We're going to place that in and begin threading it through. You'll want to attach the clip to the other side. The closest part of the carrier to the vehicle is going to be the rail to the bumper. That measures about 4-1/4". Overall, we're going to measure here from the shanks to the bumper, we've added about 14-3/4" and the ground clearance comes close to 13". By pulling the pin and clip with the base of the mast, it's going to allow us to tilt the rack down into the loading position. You want to reinsert the pin and clip and as you can tell, our measurements have changed quite a bit so we'll get a couple more measurements. The closest point of the carrier now to the vehicle is again going to be at the rail. It's about 14" at this point. more

We'll get this as tight as we can by hand and then we'll finish it off with our wrench. Make sure we're turning the right way, that's important. This helps to take any extra play out of the shank of the rack which will eliminate some movement of the rack. We'll then insert the clip on the other side and grab a couple measurements. The closest point of the rack to the vehicle is going to be about 5-1/2". Our ground clearance comes to about 16-1/2" and overall to the rear of the vehicle, we've added about 13". We'll go ahead and fold the rack down by pulling the red handle here, laying it down and it locks into place. With the rack in this position, we've added about 38" to the rear of our Silverado so you'll want to keep that in mind. Our ground clearance from the back here is going to be about 21-1/2". The exhaust does exit on the passenger side of this vehicle so it shouldn't be an issue when hauling any items that are sensitive to heat. We'll go ahead and grab our breakaway point here. The tailgates going to break over the rack at about 15-1/2". As you can see, we can fully lay down our tailgate without it touching the rack. more

Rola Dart Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Today on our 2005 Chevy Equinox, we're going to be test fitting the Rola Dart 23" by 56" cargo carrier part number 59550. We'll begin our test fit by inserting the shank into the hitch. This does come with the anti-rattle hitch bolt, and I've left it on there just so you don't have to keep it in your pocket or something. It makes it a little easier to grab. We'll go ahead and pull that out and then we'll line up our hitch pin holes. Once you have those in line, you can go ahead and insert the threaded anti-rattle hitch bolt and get that hand-tight. more

That measures about four and a half inches from our bumper. Overall we've added about 27 inches to the rear of the equinox and our ground clearance from the back of the rack here is going to be about nine inches. The exhaust on this vehicle does exit on the driver side. more
