Today we're going to be taking a look at the best trailer hitch options for your 2012 GMC Savana van. On top we've got our Class 5 CURT followed by our Draw-Tite Class 5 Draw-Tite. Down below that we have our Class 4 CURT. Installed on our Savana van we have our etrailer.com Class 4 hitch.As far as weight ratings are concerned, our Class 5 CURT is going to take the cake, having the highest tongue and towing capacities. As far as appearance goes, we're going to give that to etrailer.com's hitch for its matte finish. It can also be tied here with our CURT because it has a matte finish as well. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2012 GMC Savana Van - Curt- Video
Today on our 2012 GMC Savana van we'll be having a look at and installing the Curt Class IV Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 14090. All right, here's what our hitch looks like installed. As you can see it sits up nice and tight up against our back bumper here. The outer hitch sits back recessed a little bit from the bumper so when we're loading cargo in the back of our van we don't have to worry about running our shin into it. On the bottom of our receiver and on the frame of it we have this angular plate that's welded on, that gives us our safety chain loop attachment points. So nice solid construction there. Now at the end of our receiver here we have this nice welded on collar to help give it some added strength and give it a nice finished appearance. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2012 GMC Savana Van - Draw-Tite- Video
Today on our 2012 GMC Savana we will be installing the Draw-Tite Max-E-Loader trailer hitch, part number 41521. I'll give you some measurements to help you choose accessories like ball mounts, cargo carriers, and bike rack's. From the top of the receiver tube to the ground is about 17". From the center of the hitch pinhole to the edge of the rear bumper is about 3-3/4". The first thing we need to do is find the mounting locations - one there, one there. We'll come over to the passenger side of the vehicle and we'll mount to those same holes as on the driver side. Here is the hardware we'll be using for the four holes closest to the back of the van. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2012 GMC Savana Van - Curt 13040- Video
Today on our 2012 GMC Savana, we'll be installing the Curt Trailer Hitch, part number 13040. With the hitch installed, I'll give you a couple measurements that will help you choose accessories like bike racks, cargo carriers, or ball mounts. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the rear edge of the bumper is about 4", and from the top of the receiver tube to the ground is about 17-1/4". Now let's go see how it's installed. We'll first start by finding our mounting holes on the van. You want it there, there, and we'll use the back hole right back here. We'll use the same holes on the passenger side of the vehicle. This is the hardware we'll be using. We have one block, carriage bolt, and a flange nut. more
