Hey everybody. Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2017 Kia Sorento, we're gonna be showing you how to install, the Hopkins plug-in simple wiring harness. But before we do that, why don't we check it out and make sure that it's gonna work for you So, a lot of people use these Sorento to do a bunch of different stuff whether it's pulling a trailer, using accessories. Just about everything in between, but you know if you are gonna be pulling a trailer around, you're gonna want the lights to work on it. That way people around you know what's going on. more

Best 2017 Kia Sorento Trailer Wiring Options- Video
Clayton: Hey guys, how's it going Clayton here at etrailer.com. Today we will be taking a look at the best trailer hitch wiring options for your 2017 Kia Sorento.Now, these two are for a Sorento without a factory tow package, and these are for your Sorento with a factory tow package, so we do have quite a few options. These two are both going to be from Tekonsha, and these two are both going to be from Curt. Between these two, I would go with the Tekonsha for a couple reasons. One being that our unit has potting inside, and that's going to keep our wires from coming out of the circuit board. Our Curt does not have that, and sometimes, that's where these tend to fail.Another nice thing about our Tekonsha is our dust cover is built onto our plug, so it's more likely to stay on there after years of use. more

Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2017 Kia Sorento- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Kia Sorento we're going to be installing Curt's Four Pull Flat Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness, Part Number C56332.This wiring harness is going to provide your trailer with all the necessary lighting, including the left-turn signal, right-turn signal, tail lamps and brake lamps. It's going to plug right into your factory wiring, so it's going to be really easy to install.On the edge of your connector you'll find that it has a dust cap to keep out any dirt, debris and moisture so you have a long-lasting connection. It features a control module to provide you with all the necessary signals and it's fuse protected, so if there's any faults on your trailer such as shorts, it won't affect your vehicle, as it will just open the fuse that goes to that control module.We'll begin our installation underneath the vehicle on the driver's side. We'll need to remove the underpanel here by removing the four clips at the bottom with the trim panel remover tool. Use the trim panel remover tool to pop out the center button and then just pull the clip out. Now you remove the two plastic nuts located on the inside of your panel with a 15 millimeter socket. more

Part number is 118583.Here's what our wiring harness is going to look like when we pull it out of the packaging. This is the main goal. That's what we want to work. This is going to be a four pole flat trailer connector. It's designed to give you right turn and brake, left turn and brake, running lights and a ground. more

Today, in our 2017 Kia Sorento, we'll be having a look at and installing the Curt T connector vehicle wiring harness for factory tow package vehicles with a four pole flat trailer connector; part number C56151. Here's what a wiring looks like installed. This wiring harness gives us a four pole flat connector, which gives us the basic lighting functions that are required by law in order for us to safely and legally tow a trailer. Off of our connector here, this is our ground wire. This gives us our necessary ground between our Sorento and our trailer for all of our lighting functions to work properly. Next to that, this is our taillight connector. This takes care of our taillight and running light circuit. On this wire, we have a total power output of six amps. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2017 Kia Sorento 118269- Video
Today in our 2017 Kia Sorento, we'll be having a look at and installing the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for factory tow package vehicles with a 4-pole flat trailer connector, part number 118269. Here's what our wiring looks like installed. Now, this wiring harness gives us the basic lighting functions, which are required by law in order for us to safely and legally tow a trailer. We'll have our tail light circuit right here, that is our running light circuit as well. Next to that, we will have our left turn signal and left brake light, followed by our right turn signal and right brake light. This pin over here, that is our ground, and that will provide the necessary ground connection between our Sorento and our trailer, so the lights work properly. Now on our tail light and running light circuit, we have a maximum power output of 7 1/2 amps, which is more than adequate to tow a trailer that even has several incandescent light bulbs on it. more
