Pro Series Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Chevrolet Suburban- Video

Today on our 2016 Chevrolet Suburban we're test fitting the Pro Series Q-Slot Platform-Style 2 bike and 4 bike rack. A part number for that is PS63138. The first thing we're going to do is check out our bike here and how it's strapped down to our bike rack. We've got these hook and loop straps here holding down the front and back tire. Now you might be a little wary about these straps, but from reading reviews I've learned that these straps are actually very well-made and so they secure your bike to that rack very well. Go ahead and undo these. Even though they aren't going to damage your bike much you'd still want to make sure that they're between the spokes there. Then we'll come around here. more

We've got two cradles holding this bike down and three straps, two on the frame here, and then one is your anti-sway strap in the back. Today on our 2016 Chevrolet Suburban, we're test-fitting the Swagman dispatch platform-style two-bike rack. The part number for that is S64684, and it's designed to work with two-inch hitches. The first thing we'll do are show you some features of the rack and how we strap down our bike to the rack. Now, if we take a look at our bike first, we've got two straps holding in the tires in the back here. Those straps have cushions on them. That will help secure smaller bike tires, like we have here, and you can always flip that cushion over for bigger tires. Then we also have a frame hook holding our bike in. That's what's going to secure it down and make sure it's tight against your bike rack. The first thing we'll do is go ahead and undo our straps. more

Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe we're going to be doing a test fit of the Inno Tire Hold 3. This is going to be your platform-style 3bkr, part number INH305-306. As you can see, we've already got it up here on our vehicle with the bike in place so you can see what it's going to look like once you have it fully assembled and in place on the back of yours. It does come with an 1-1/4" shank as well as a 2" adapter. Now keep in mind that it can be used with your class one, two, and three receivers. If you plan on using it with your class one you're only going to be able to carry up to two bikes, and that is per your hitch's weight specifications. It also will come with your 3/4" anti-rattle bolt with a lock for anti-tamper. more

Saris Freedom Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Chevrolet Equinox- Video

Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Equinox, we're taking a look at the Saris Freedom. This is a platform style folding and tilting forward bike rack. They designed it for use with two inch hitches. The part number for it is S-A-4-4-1-4-B. Now, first and foremost, a really cool thing about the rack, even with bikes loaded, we're going to be able to tilt this right out and away from our car. Simply pull the safety pin down there at the bottom and then we'll push the grey lever here in the rear and allow that to tilt right down. It's interesting to note and good to note that it's not going to make contact with the ground when you're setting on a level surface, so we'll get full extension of that rack until it's lowered position. Looks like then we'll have all the room we need to get our rear hatch door open here. more

Overall, the Kuat does a great job of securing our bike in two ways. We've got a nice heavy duty cable that's going to run from one end over here to the other, connects right in the middle. Now the CURT rack is going to hold our bike in position with three straps. We've got two for our frame up top here and then an anti-sway cradle in the back. Helps to prevent some of that bike movement forward and back, keeping it from hitting other bikes or maybe going up and hitting that mast. Now they're easy to remove. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Chevrolet Traverse S64684- Video

Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Traverse, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Swagman Dispatch. This is a platform style 2 bike rack. It has been designed for use in 2 inch hitches. The part number on it is S64684. As you can see the Dispatch is going to use 3 points of contact to hold our bike in place, we got a front wheel cradle, rear wheel cradle and also a frame hook. Now the frame hook has a padded design on it, we won't have to worry about any kind of abrading or any scratches or anything on our frame and each of our wheel cradles has a padded or a pad rather that sits right on top of our rim that's going to give us some shock absorption there and keep it from doing any damage there. We'll use just a cam buckle style strap, press the button then we'll be able to bring our straps out. more

Today on this 2014 Chevrolet Spark we're going to do a test fit of the Max Tow Hitch Bike Rack, part number MT70387. On our test vehicle here we have an inch and a quarter receiver hitch. Our bike rack does come with an adapter to go in a two inch receiver hitches; however, that's kind of removed right now so you can put it on our hitch here. Let's go ahead and put it in and line up the hitch pin holes. Install our bolt and to tighten it down we're going to need a three quarter inch socket. Small clip goes on the other side. We got got it in the stored position, let's go ahead and fold it. more

Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Thule Vertex Swing, part number TH9031XT. This is going to be your hanging style, 4-bike rack and as you can see, we already have our bike on here so you can see what it would look like once you have your bike in place with the cradle arms extended. Now first thing we're going to do is get some measurements, starting with our closest distance first. From the T-handle here to the back side of the bumper is going to be about 6-1/4 inches. Our overall distance with the cradle arms extended is going to be from the rear of the bumper to that point and about 37 inches. Our ground clearance will be from the base of the bike rack at about 21-5/8 inches. Now let's move up front and talk about the swing feature. Go ahead and remove this pin on the end, and it has two holes. more

Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe we're going to be doing a test fit of the Curt Premium 4. This would be your hanging style 4-bike rack, part number C18064. As you can see, we've already got it up here on our vehicle so you can see what it would look like once you have it in place on your vehicle with a bike on it as well. First thing we're going to do is go ahead and get some measurements, starting with our closest distance first, which in this case is going to be from the thumb knob in the front bracket plate here to the back side of the bumper. That's going to be about 5-7/8". Overall distance that we've added to the vehicle will be from the rear of the bumper to the back of the cradle arms, at about 36". Our ground clearance is going to be about 22". Now that we've talked about those, let's talk about the straps on the top here. more

Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Traverse, we'll be doing a test fit of the Curt Premium 4 Bike Rack, this is going to be your hanging style 4 bike rack. It does come with a 2 inch shank for your 2 inch hitches only and it's going to be part number C18064. Let's go ahead and get it fitted on there. First thing you want to do is insert your shank into your receiver and then line up your pin holes. Once you have your pin holes lined up, insert your anti rattle bolt and thread it in as far as you can by hand. This anti rattle bolt is going to help to eliminate a lot of the sway, rattle and wobble that you may have in your bike rack and with it just hand tighten, you can still see a lot of that wobble. more

A few things are slight differences in the cradles here, and our mast will actually lock in the down position as well, which is really nice. Today on our 2014 Chevrolet Traverse we're going to be doing a test fit of the Swagman Trailhead 4. This is going to be your hanging-style 4-bike rack. It comes with an 1-1/4" shank and a 2" adapter. Just remember with your 1-1/4" shank class one and two hitches, that you will only be able to carry three bikes per the capacity, but you can carry all the bikes on this with your 2". Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Chevrolet Traverse TH9029XT- Video

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Thule Vertex, this is a hanging style 4 bike rack, it's been designed for use with inch and 1/4 or 2 inch hitches. The Part Number on it is TH9029XT, as you can see it holds our bike nice and sturdy. We've got an anti-sway cradle here that's been designed to keep our bikes from making contact with our rack and our other bikes. There are going to be 3 heavy duty rubber straps, it's going to hold them in place. Allow us to slide our bikes on and off, it uses the dual arms here. It comes with an inch and a quarter shank as well as a two inch adapter. This will be part number SR2403. We're going to go ahead and get it fitted onto our Traverse that we have here today, first step being insert the shank into the receiver and line up the pin holes. This does have two separate sets of pin holes. There will be a hole here and a hole here. Let's line it up with the first one, because the second one is going to be just too far in to the bottom fascia. more
