Saris Freedom Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Chrysler Town and Country

Today on our 2015 Chrysler Town and Country, we will be test fitting the Saris Freedom Platform Style 4 Bike Rack, that's part number SA44145B. This can be used for 2 inch hitches, we can go ahead and insert our shank into our receiver, we'll line our pin holes up, and we've get those lined up, we'll go ahead and take our included anti rattle bolt, go ahead and thread that through, once we get that hand tightened, we'll go ahead and tighten that the rest of the way down with our socket wrench. The nice thing about this anti rattle bolt is it's going to help reduce the play and the rattle within our hitch and our bike rack as you can see there. We'll go ahead and put our clip in place and we'll take a few measurements. Starting with our nearest point its like it's going to be from here to our bumper and that's going to be right about 2 inches away from there to there. Overall we've added 17 1/2 inches to our vehicle and for our ground clearance we are looking at about 13 1/2 inches. All right we can go ahead and lower this down, we came up here to this gray handle, go ahead and pull it out like that, lower it down until it snaps into place, just like that and by doing that, our nearest point is now about 6 1/2 inches from here to our bumper. more

Today on our 2015 Chrysler Town and Country, we'll be test fitting the Saris Freedom Super Clamp Platform Style 2 Bike Rack, that's part number SA4025. This can be used for either 1 1/4 or 2 inch hitches. We've got a 2 inch hitch here today, we can go ahead and begin by inserting our shank into our receiver. We'll line up our pin holes. Once we get that lined up, we'll go ahead and take our included anti rattle bolt and lock and thread that through and once we get that hand tightened, we'll finish tightening that down with our socket wrench. Nice thing about this anti rattle bolt it's going to help reduce the play and the rattle within our bike rack and our hitch. more

We want to slide it in far enough so we have our threaded hole lined up with our hitch pinhole. With those in line we'll take our anti-rattle bolt, we'll slide that in and begin threading it down by hand. more

We'll begin our test fit by inserting the shank of the rack into the hitch on our town and country. You'll want to watch for the hitch pin holes to line up. With those in line we can take the provided hitch pin lock and thread that into place. Go ahead and get that hand tight and then we can finish it off with our wrench.Tightening this down will help take any extra play out of the shank of the rack, helping to eliminate movement while going down the road. With that tightened down, we'll snap our lock on to the other side, then turn it to the lock position, that way it snaps on. more

You'll notice the self-locking hitch pin. We'll go ahead and just push that in until it goes into the appropriate hole. We can then tighten the anti-rattle device here at the base of the rack. more

We'll begin our test fit by inserting the shank of the rack into the hitch on our Town and Country. You'll want to watch for the hitch pinhole to line up. With that in mind we'll go ahead and take the included threaded anti-rattle hitch bolt and thread that into place. We'll go ahead and get that hand-tight and then we can finish it off with our wrench. Tightening this down helps to take the extra play out of the shank of the rack, which helps to eliminate movement overall as you're going down the road. We'll attach our clip to the other side and grab a few measurements. The closest point of the rack to the vehicle is going to be here at the back of the mast. That measures about five and a half inches. more

We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. We'll thread in our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it with a wrench. With the bike rack secured, we'll go over a few clearance measurements and see how the two fit together. We have about 13 inches of ground clearance at the rear of the bike rack. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 6 inches, and with the cradle arms folded down, we've added about 15 inches to the overall length of our Chrysler Town & Country. We can now pull the gold pin at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out. With the cradles arms out, we've added about 35 inches to the overall length of our vehicle. To access the cargo area, we can pull the gold pin at the base of the bike rack and tilt the mast down. more

With the bike rack secured, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 10-1/2" of ground clearance at the rear of the bike rack. Closest part of the vehicle to the closest part of our Town & Country is about 2" away, and we've added about 8" to the overall length of our vehicle with the cradle arms pointing down. We can now pull the black pin at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out. With the cradle arms out we've added about 31" to the overall length of our Chrysler. To access the rear hatch we can pull the pin at the base of the bike rack and tilt the mast down. more

Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about three and a half inches away and we've added about eleven and a half inches to the overall length of our Town and Country. To lower the platform, we can pull the red pin at the base of the bike rack and tilt it down. With the platform folded down, we have about eighteen inches of ground clearance at the rear of the bike rack. more

To access the rear hatch we can pull the gray lever at the base of the bike rack and tilt the mast down. more

To access the cargo area, we can pull the silver pin at the base of the bike rack and tilt the mast down. more

Hollywood Racks Traveler Tow n Go Bike Rack Review - 2011 Chrysler Town and Country

Today on our 2011 Chrysler Town & Country we'll be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Traveler Tow N' Go 3 bike rack, part number HR135. With this test fit we'll be using the Hidden Hitch Super Extra Long Ball Mount, part number 80232. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the ball mount into the opening of the hitch and securing with a pin and clip, which is also sold separately. To load a bike we'll undo the black pin at the top of the mast and swing out our dual arms. We'll undo the cradle straps, place our bike into the frame cradles, and secure it with the straps. Keep in mind, this bike rack will not allow you to access the rear hatch. Now we'll take the rack out on our slalom course to show you the side to side movement. Then we'll go to our alternating bumps and then to our straight bumps to show you the up and down as well as the side to side movement. That will complete today's test fit for the Hollywood Racks Traveler Tow N' Go, part number HR135, on our 2011 Chrysler Town & Country. more

Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about nine inches away and with the cradle arms down we've added about fourteen inches to the overall length of our Town and Country. We can now loosen up the black knobs on the top left and right hand corner of the mast to swing out our dual arms. With the cradle arms out, we've added about thirty eight inches to the overall length of our Chrysler. more

Softride Dura Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2011 Chrysler Town and Country

Today, on our 2012 Chrysler Town and Country, we'll be test fitting the SoftRide Dura Parallelogram Tilting 4 Bike Rack part number SR26247. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank in the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. We'll line up the pin holes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt, and tighten it with a wrench. Withthe bikerack secured, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 10 1/2 inches of ground clearance. The closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about two and half inches away. We've added about 32 inches to the overall length of our Town and Country. more

Today on our 2014 Chrysler Town and Country, we'll be test grading the Thule Vertex Hitch-Mounted Four Bike Rack, part number TH9025. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. We'll line up our pinholes, thread our anti-rattle bolt through the pinholes and tighten it with a wrench. With the bike rack secure, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 14 inches of ground clearance at the rear of the bike rack. The closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 2 inches away, and we've added about 9-1/2 inches to the overall length of our vehicle with the cradle arms folded down. We can now pull the gray lever at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out. With the cradle arm out we've added about 33 inches to the overall length of our Town and Country. To access the cargo area we can lift up the gray lever at the base of the bike rack and tilt the mast down. more

We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. We'll line up our pin holes, enter the pin through the pin holes and secure over the lock in their side. We can then turn the black T-handle to engage the anti-rattle device. With the bike rack secured, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 15 and a half inches of ground clearance at the rear of the bike rack. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about a quarter of an inch away. more

We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the ball mount into the opening of the hitch and securing it with a pin and clip. Remember the ball mount and the pin and clip are sold separately. With the ball mount secured, we'll go ahead and show you how to load up a bike. We'll pull out the black pin at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out. more

Well allow the integrated hitch pin to fall into place and well then turn the black knob to engage the anti-rattle device. There is a small tab on the top of the shank that does barely come in contact with the underside of the rear bumper fascia. This may vary due to the style of your hitch. With the bike rack secured well go over a couple of clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. more

Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 2-1/2 inches away, and we've added about 9 inches to the overall length of our vehicle. We can now pull the gray lever at the base of the bike rack and tilt the platform down. more

Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about four inches away and we've added about 32 inches to the overall length of our Town and Country. To load up a bike, we'll simply undo the cradle straps, place our bike into the frame cradles and then secure it with the straps. Now, one great feature of this bike rack is that it has the ability to tilt down with the bike loaded to give you access to your rear hatch. more

Today on our 2014 Chrysler and Town and Country, we'll be test fitting the pro series, Q slot, platform style two and four bike carrier, part number PS63138. For today's test fit, we'll be using the two bike figuration for a 2" hitch. Well slide the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch, thread in our anti-rattle bolt, and tighten it down using a wrench. With the bike rack secured, we'll go over a couple clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 12" of ground clearance at the rear of the bike rack. The closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 2" away, and we've added about 23" to the overall length of our Town and Country. We can pull the three silver pins at the base of the bike rack to tilt down the wheel cradles as well as the mast. As you can see, we can easily access the rear hatch. To load a bick, we'll make sure that the mast is in its upright position. more

We now can loosen up the black knobs on both the upper left and right corner of the mast to swing the cradle arms out. more
