Today on our 2008 Toyota Tundra will be tested in the Covert-A-Ball Cushioned Ball Mount for 2-inch hitches with a 6-3/4 inch rise or an 8-inch drop rated at 10,000 lbs, Part #AMSC8. To begin our test fit we first need to get our hitch height; this is the measurement from the ground to the inside top edge of our receiver tube. We have a hitch height of 19-1/4 inches. We'll now take our ball mount and install it in the drop position. We'll slide the shank of our ball mount into the receiver tube of the hitch, line up our pin hole, and install our pin and clip. We'll now take a measurement from the ground to the top of our ball platform. We have a measurement of about 11 inches. When measuring your trailer height you want to measure it when your trailer is level. You'll measure from the ground to the bottom of your coupler. If your measurement matches ours, then this would be a good fit for you. We'll flip it over to the rise position, and we now have a measurement of 25-3/4 inches. Again, if your measurement matches ours, this would be a good fit for you. We'll get a measurement of about thirteen and one quarters inches. Keep in mind this measurement may vary due to tire size, hitch style, or other after-market accessories. We'll now begin our test fit in the drop position by sliding the shank of the ball mount into the opening of the hitch. We'll secure it with a pin and clip. We'll then measure from the ground to the top of the ball platform, getting a measurement of about eleven and three quarters inches. Now, if your vehicle's hitch height matches ours, and your trailer's ride height matches this measurement, this would be an appropriate ball mount for you. We can now flip the ball mount over into the rise position, and, again, measure from the ground to the top of the ball platform. more

Today on our 2005 Jeep Liberty, we'll be test fitting the Curt Tri-Ball Mount, part number C45001. We'll go ahead and install our ball mount first. The tri-ball mount has a 1-7/8 inch ball, a 2-inch ball, and a 2-5/16 inch ball mounted on a hollow enclosed shank, which is black powder coated. It'll fit a 2-inch by 2-inch trailer hitch, and the towing capacity depends on the weight capacity of the ball. The 1-7/8 inch ball has a 5,000-pound towing capacity. The 2-inch ball has a 7,500-pound towing capacity, and the 2-5/16 inch ball has a 10,000-pound towing capacity. Now, both the 1-7/8 inch and the 2-inch balls measure 8-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole. more

With the ball mount platform in it's lowest position with the ball mount in a drop position, we can measure from the ground to the top of the ball platform and we'll get a measurement of about ten inches. We can now put the ball mount platform in its highest position with the ball mount sill in the drop. more

Now since this ball mount has no drop or rise, if your vehicles hitch height matches your trailers ride height, this ball mount would be appropriate for you. Now with the ball mount on this position, you can access the 2-5/16 of an inch ball at the top. We can now rotate the ball mount to the left or to the right to access the either 1-7/8 inch ball or the 2 inch ball. Now if you flip it over toward the pin and at the top portion of the ball mount, you can see that once we remove this over clip, the pin cannot be removed from the ball mount. Therefore it can only be used at the bottom of the ball mount. more
