Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Chevrolet Silverado we're gonna be taking a look at and also showing you how to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller for one to four axles and that's gonna be part number 90885. To help us with our installation we're gonna be using the Tekonsha plug in wiring adapter, part number 3016.Here's what our brake controller's gonna look like once we have it installed. The blue light's gonna let us know that it's getting power, however if we apply the brakes it's gonna tell us NC letting us know that our trailer is not connected. Once I hook up my trailer we're gonna have a C letting us know that the trailer is connected. At a quick glance you can already tell if your trailer's hooked up or not.Our Prodigy P2 is gonna be a proportional brake controller and what that means is it's gonna have an internal sensor that's gonna realize how much we're slowing down so when we apply the brakes on our truck it's gonna apply the same amount and at the same time to our trailer. Opposed to time delay brake controllers which are just gonna apply the brakes as soon as you hit the brakes there's gonna be a small pause and then they're just gonna ramp up and apply the brakes to the maximum power. more

Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, we're gonna be having a look at and installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller, part number: 90885, in conjunction with our Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers, part number: 3016. Here's what our brake controller looks like installed. We already have a trailer plugged into our truck, so we have a "C" right here, which shows that we have a working electrical connection between the two. If we're trailer we're to ever become unhooked from the back of our truck, or we have an electrical fault, "NC" will be displayed here on the screen to let us know that we have a problem and our brakes on the trailer aren't working. Now, what I really like about this brake controller is that it gives us the functionality in order for us to tow a trailer that has up to four axles, so we can have up to eight electric brakes on our trailer. Also, we have the ability to tow a trailer that has electric over hydraulic brakes with no input required from us at all on the brake controller in order to make the setting change for that to work. It'll happen automatically. more

We have ours hooked up to a trailer right now, and when you're hooked up, you see you get an icon of a truck towing a trailer and it shows your current power output going towards your brakes. Since this is a proportional brake controller and we're in park right now, when I step on my brake pedal, we don't get any power being applied because we're not actually moving. There is no false application of the brakes. You have to be moving in a forward direction with your brakes applied. This brake controller will allow you to tow a trailer up to four axles controlling four sets of electric trailer brakes. Now what our trailer brake controller is going to do is it's going to take the signal from our brake pedal, so when we press on it, it's gonna take that signal, following the wires, and it's gonna send it out to 7-way at the back, and it's gonna send the proper signal from the back of our 7-way to our trailer to our brakes and have the proper signal, and the right adjustments of everything. Now the CR brake controller is going to let us know that the brake controller senses that the trailer is connected so just a quick glance down, we can know if we're connected properly or if there's any issues at the back. Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 5100

Today on our 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, we're going to be installing the Draw-Tite Activator Time Delayed Trailer Brake Controller. This works for one to two axles. It's part number is 5100. We're also going to be using the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter, part number 3016. Here is what the activator looks like once we get it installed. This time delayed system is going to deliver power to your brakes in a slow and steady fashion, depending on how you have your sync settings. This sync is going to allow those to apply more aggressively and quickly or a little bit slower and a little bit more comfortably. Our output here, that's going to determine how much power is sent to the rear. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 90885

Today on our 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, we're going to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller, part number 90885. We're also going to be using the Tekonsha Plug-in Wiring Adapter. That part number is 3016. Here's what the P2 is going to look like when you get it installed in your vehicle. This is a proportional breaking system, so this is going to take the inertia from your vehicle and translate that into breaking power using the accelerometer located inside. So on very quick and abrupt stops, where we're really trying to stop quickly, this is going to go right up to our maximum power rapidly and deliver that braking to us when we need it in an emergency. When we're in city streets and just slowly on and off the brakes just trying to maintain speed, this is going to do it much more gradually, reducing the heat build-up in our brakes and also only using what we need at that time. The "C" here is going to indicate that we've got a trailer connected, so if you see a "DC" come up, it means you've got a disconnect situation. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 39510

Today on our 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, we're going to install the Tekonsha Voyager. This a proportional trailer brake controller, that will work for 1 up to 4 axles. It's part number is 39510. We're also going to be using the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter, that part number is 3016. Now the Voyager from Tekonsha is a great brake controller that uses a proportional system to deliver whatever power that you're inputting here at the brake pedal, to the rear of the vehicle. So if we get an aggressive emergency stop, and you really stand on it, this is going to provide more power to the rear. If we're in the everyday traffic to where we're just placing our foot on there just to slow down a little bit, the Voyager realizes that, and it'll slow it down gradually. We've got an adjustment here on the left, that's going to be for our output, or the amount of braking force going to our trailer. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2012 Chevrolet Silverado C51140

Today on our 2012 Chevrolet Silverado we'll be installing the CURT TriFlex trailer brake controller, part number C51140. Here you can see we've got two lights once we've got our key on and the trailer connected. That indicates that our brake controller is getting power and also that we've got our trailer connected. Our sync modes that we have here for the level 1, 2, 3, and 4, that's going to actuate our brake and see how quickly it goes on. Now, since this is a TriFlex or a sensing system, if we apply our brakes it knows we're sitting still. It's only going to give us about 1.5% gain. more

On the driver's side of the brake controller is a thumb wheel for adjusting the gain control. This will allow us to adjust our gain down or up as needed. Then, here on the passenger side of our brake controller, is our boost function, allow us to go to Boost 1, 2 or 3 as needed for more aggressive braking, depending on our trailer's size and load. Here at the bottom of our brake controller is the manual sweep. This will allow you to apply the trailer brakes without pressing on the vehicle's brake pedal. This little slide bar right here on the side, we can slide this forward or we can slide it back. Sliding it back towards us is going to give us gradual braking force, so as we apply the brake you're going to see this slowly work its way over to give us maximum brake engagement. more

Dexter Axle Predator Electric Brake Controller Installation - 2012 Chevrolet Silverado- Video

Dexter Axle Predator Electric Brake Controller Installation - 2012 Chevrolet Silverado

Today on our 2012 Chevrolet Silverado we're going to be installing the Dexter Axle Predator. This is a proportional electric brake controller capable of handling two up to four brakes. Part number on it is 58-8. The Predator is going to offer us a lever activation right here. That's going to allow us to gently apply our brakes from inside of the vehicle without actually using the brake force here on the floor. As you can see, once we do press in the blank 00:30 on the floor, it gives us a reading of .17, but since this is an inertia-activated system, if we're not moving it's really not going to provide a lot of force to those brakes in the back. A great thing about the an inertia-driven system is that when we really have those emergency stops and we really have to stand on the brake, it's going to sense that and it's going to give us a lot more power back there to help us come to a stop. more

With this brake controller, we will be using the universal 7-pin wiring kit, part number ETBC7. We'll start at the rear of the vehicle. On this particular vehicle, there was already a 4-way trailer connector installed. We will begin by finding a location to mount he 7-way and 4-way trailer connector. On this particular, we we're able to mount the bracket just under the bumper edge. To mount the 7- and 4-way trailer connector bracket to the bumper, we used 2 self-tapping screws. To make things easier, we will go ahead and make some of our wire connections on the table before we install the 7- and 4-way trailer connector up on the vehicle. more
