Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe- Video

Speaker 1: Today, on our 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe, we're going to be taking a look at showing you how to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 trailer brake controller, part number 90195. To help with inaudible 00:00:12 installation, we're going to be using the universal installation kit for trailer break controllers, part number ETBC7.So, here's what our P3's going to look like once it's installed. Now, this is going to be a proportional brake controller, which means it's going to apply the brakes to our trailer in the same intensity, and time that apply them in our towed vehicle. So, if we ease in to a stop, our trailer brakes are going to come on very light. But if we come to a panicked stop, our trailer brakes are going to apply just as quickly as we apply them in our car. Our P3s going to be able to handle trailers anywhere from one all the way up to four axles. more

This plug in wire and adapter allows for quick and simple installation of your electric trailer brake controller. With this type of harness, you don't have to worry about cutting or splicing any wires. The custom connector end simply plugs in to the built in port beneath the dash of your vehicle and the other end plugs into the back of your electric brake controller. This is compatible with time delay and proportional brake controllers from CURT. The brake controller must have the built in plug or built in port for the adapter to connect. more

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the best brake controllers available for the 2012 Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500. Now these brake controllers we're selected for several reasons one being ease of use, the second reason is kind of our feeling about them here in shop which ones we like and had success with, which ones we don't so much, and thirdly all of our customer feedback, all of the reviews that we get on it. We went through, kind of selected the best of the best, the ones that give us kind of all of those features wrapped into one.Now all of the brake controllers that we're gonna look at today are proportional controllers. It's a newer technology available and it really is just a lot better than what the time delayed systems used to be. Basically with a time delayed system it was pre programmed when your brakes would engage so you'd hit the brake in your vehicle there might be a pause before the brakes on your trailer actually engage.With the proportional controller we don't have to worry about that, if we hit our brakes on our truck our brakes are gonna start being applied and they're gonna be applied in proportion to how we're braking in our truck. When we hit the brakes hard they're gonna apply the brakes more heavily, if we hit the brakes lightly it's gonna sense that and it's gonna apply the brakes more lightly. more
