Hi there, Kia owners. Today, on your 2018 Kia Optima, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Curt's class I 1 1/4 inch trailer hitch receiver. And this is what our hitch looks like when it's installed. You will be able to see the receiver here at the back, but the cross tube is fairly tucked underneath pretty far. It is visible down below but since this car sits so low to the ground, unless you're down on your hands and knees, you really won't notice that cross tube. It does have a 1 1/4 by 1 1/4 inch receiver here at the back. more

Adding a hitch like this onto your vehicle is going to allow you to put a cargo carrier, bike rack, or maybe even pull a small trailer. Putting a cargo carrier on, it's going to allow you to get items out of the vehicle, put them in or on the cargo carrier to give you more room inside.Maybe you're putting a bike rack on, it's going to allow you to put the bike racks on, instead of trying to load them inside the vehicle or maybe up on a roof rack. Trailer Hitch Installation - 2015 Kia Optima - Curt- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Kia Optima we'll be having a look at and installing the Curt class one trailer hitch receiver, part number C11025. Here's what the hitch looks like installed. As you can see, our hitch here is tucked up nicely underneath our fascia, sits nice and tight up against it giving us the maximum amount of ground clearance that we possibly can have, and yet, still giving us plenty of clearance around our receiver opening here making this an ideal hitch to use with bike racks and cargo carriers.Welded onto the bottom of the receiver and the frame of our hitch is our safety chain lube plate. This plate style design has two openings, one in each side of the receiver which are fairly large openings which shouldn't be an issue to hook on most safety chain hooks.On the side of our receiver here is our industry standard, half inch diameter hitch pin hole to secure inaudible 00:00:55 mount and accessories. The hitch pin and clip is included with the hitch.Welded onto the back of our receiver is this reinforcement collar which helps give us a more refined appearance and also reinforces the shank of the receiver a little bit. This hitch features a 200 pound max gross tongue weight rating, which is the amount of weight forcing down any 2,000 pound max gross trail weight rating, which is the amount I can pull. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2015 Kia Optima - Draw-Tite- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Kia Optima we'll be having a look at, and installing, the Draw-Tite Class I Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 24940. Here's what our hitch looks like installed. As you can see, our hitch has plenty of clearance around our fascia here, making this an idea hitch to use with bike racks and cargo carriers. The main frame of the hitch is tucked up nice and tight up against our underside the vehicle, to help optimize ground clearance.On the side of our receiver here, we have our industry standard 1/2" diameter hitch pin hole, to secure any of our hitch mounted accessories. Welded onto the bottom of our receiver are these tubular steel safety chain loops, which have a nice, large opening, which will allow us to hook on the safety chains from our trailer at any angle. This hitch features a 200 pound max tongue weight rating, which is the amount forcing down, and a 2,000 pound max gross trailer rating, which is what it can pull. more

Today, on this 2013 Kia Optima, we're going to install part number 24853, from Draw-Tite. This is what the hitch looks like when it's installed on our Optima. Next, we'll give you some measurements, and help you out with selecting some accessories such as a bicycle rack or a cargo carrier. From top of receiver opening down to the ground will be about 10 inches. And from the center of the hitchpin hole to the edge of the bumper will be about 3-5/8 inches. The first step in our hitch install is to get the vehicle ready. To do that, we're going to need to lower the exhaust. Now we're going to use a simple strap to help hold our exhaust while we lower it. With the strap holding our exhaust, we can go ahead and remove this hanger right here. more
